AbstractSierra Leone is a very poor country in Africa. Botswana is another country, that has a similar history and the same deposit; diamonds. Botswana has reached economic growth and democracy and Sierra Leone has not.The purpose with this study is to explain why Botswana is more democratic and has reached a better result economic than Sierra Leone.The questions in this study are:What explains the democratic and the economic results in Sierra Leone and Botswana?* Dahl?s institutions that furthers a polyarchy?* Gunnarsson?s and Rojas? institutional explanations?* Diamond?s and Morlino?s ?rule of law??* Other explanations or a combination of the above-mentioned explanations?The method that has been used in this study is a comparative case study with a qualitative contents analysis. The result is that it?s hard to say that one explanation is the right one.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att ur ett adaptionsteoretiskt perspektiv undersöka gestaltningen av framförallt sexuellt våld i Anthony Burgess roman A Clockwork Orange (1962) och Stanley Kubricks adaption av romanen till film (1971). Genom en närstudie av hur våldet gestaltas och vad av våldet som kommuniceras mellan roman och film, är min ansats att identifiera A Clockwork Orange som estetiserad och metakritisk eller våldsförhärligande. Undersökningen visar att det vid tolkningen av A Clockwork Orange inte går att bortse från kontext och kulturell diskurs och att det sätt man talade om framförallt filmen när den hade premiär, präglade synen på den som våldsförhärligande. Undersökningen visar dock att den litterära textens tekniker och konstruerade språk skapar distans till våldsgestaltningen som gör det möjligt att omvandla den till en metaforik. Undersökningen visar vidare att det audiovisuella mediet genom ett konstnärligt formspråk förmår skapa en förståelse för våldet som en kritik mot det våld som en inte förmår distansera sig till..

Demokrati har i olika former under närmare 2500 år varit en del av de politiska system som existerat i världen. Under årens lopp har det som idag klassas som en demokrati utvecklats från det antika Grekland, som handlade främst om fria mäns rösträtt till mer komplexa former som inkluderar bland annat mänskliga rättigheter. Att demokratin dessutom högst troligt inte bara spridits mellan platser och samhällen utan troligen uppstått i olika former helt oberoende av tidigare demokratier gör demokratin till ett något komplext och svårdefinierat fenomen (Dahl, 1998:7-9).Fördelningen av demokrati geografiskt sett har även den varierat, från att främst existera i västvärlden har demokrati nu börjat spridas och även förekomma i övriga delar av världen, så som utvecklingsländer, dock under olika förutsättningar och former. Den demokratiska utvecklingen i Afrika, och då speciellt afrikanska stater söder om Sahara, har dock hamnat något efter men fick under nittiotalet ett större genomslag genom en rad händelser, till exempel frigivningen av Nelson Mandela i Sydafrika. Antalet demokratier i hela Afrika var därför i slutet av nittiotalet mellan 9 och 17, beroende på hur begreppet definieras (Diamond, 1999:1-2).

Youth culture and social problems associated with youth groups have existed for decades. We have chosen an explorative case study design to highlight young people's revolt against parents and society and how society has dealt with social problems of youth and how those were perceived. ?Raggare? were considered a major social problem in society. The material in the study comes from eight qualitative interviews and literature of previous research of the current youth culture.

The purpose of this study is to find out how some Swedish preschool teacher discussing how children's Swedish colloquial interaction can be enhanced in the free play. In this case where children are aged three to five.My research questions in the study are:-          What type of free play do preschool teachers talk about in relation to children's Swedish colloquial development?-          What do preschool teachers say about child's colloquial interaction?-           How do preschool teachers reason regarding in what environment children?s colloquial interaction occurs?In my study I have used an interview with elements of a visual method called The Diamond. The approach is that the participants in the interview will be enhanced to discussing about a wise certain number of images. These images are then to be ranked accordingly with a specific theme and terms.If a child has difficult to speak, you can take help of  the interest the child has, the child can tell you and the other children what he or she know about the interest.

Den här studiens syfte är att undersöka två olika läromedel i engelska för årskurs 9 utifrån ett genusperspektiv och hur väl läromedlen relaterar till läroplanens jämställdhetsfrågor. Våra frågeställningar är Hur framställs kvinnor och män utifrån ett genusperspektiv? och Hur relaterar läromedlen i engelskundervisningen till de jämställdhetsfrågor som tas upp i LGR11?Vi utgår ifrån socialkonstruktionism och genusteori och sammanlänkar dessa i begreppet doing gender. Genom att använda en kvalitativ innehållsanalys tillsammans med den så kallade genustrappan har vi analyserat alla texter i dessa två böcker. Resultatet visar att det finns brister, sett ur ett genusperspektiv, i synliggörandet av män och kvinnor och att böckerna förmedlar en könsstereotypisk bild av båda könen.

This is a hermeneutic study that analyzes and discusses whether it is possible to find Christian ethics in the TV-series Beverly Hills 90210 (1990) and the spin-off 90210 (2008) and how they differ in the preparation of these. I also aim to, based on my research, illustrate the discussion of Christian ethics in the curriculum and why we need a multicultural education.I have chosen three episode of both TV-series and I divided each episode into different themes, each theme is a phenomenon that I perceive to be a part of a Christian ethical position. Then I argue, using the theologian Stanley Hauerwas, these themes really can relate to what may be perceived as Christian ethics. In order to discuss how Christian ethics and secular ideals are connected I find the theory of secularization usefull. The results I came upwith is that I find a theme in each episode which I percieve to be a part of a Christian ethical position.

FYROM has a long tradition of producing wine. Wine production in FYROM is one of the greatest contributors of the agricultural share of their GDP. The aim of the thesis is to see if the wine production in FYROM has a comparative advantage compared to other countries that produce wine and if FYROM is able to sustain the advantage in the future. The countries chosen for comparison are Bulgaria, Croatia, France and Italy. The methods used in the thesis are the Balassa Index and Porter?s Diamond of National Advantage.

BAE Systems Hägglunds bandvagn BvS10 har differentialer av typen truetrac i både fram- och bakvagn för att öka framkomligheten i svår terräng. Differentialens uppgift är att föra över moment mellan de utgående axlarna vid minskat markfäste på något av banden. Detta sker genom friktion mellan differentialhuset och kuggspelets pinjonkugghjul.Syftet med arbetet är att analysera friktionens påverkan på differentialens momentöverföring, i form av olika smörjmedel och ytbehandlingsval. Beräkningar på kugghållfasthet samt momentöverföringen i differentialen i förhållande till friktionen utfördes i ett inledande skede av arbetet. Tre förslag på testuppställningar togs fram, där en valdes ut för tillverkning.

Syftet med detta arbete är att titta på avvikelser och skillnader kring en speciell händelse som skildras i svenska läromedel i historieämnet. Genom en kvalitativ bildanalytisk metod har vi analyserat illustrationer av det kända mötet mellan Doktor Livingstone och Henry Morton Stanley 1871. Det är en ofta förekommande illustration och i detta arbete har vi analyserat illustrationen av mötet från olika tidsepoker. Vi har tagit del av forskning kring läromedelsbilder för att få en överblick kring bilders och illustrationers syfte och roll i läromedel. Från historieforskningen har vi hämtat begreppen eurocentrism och global perspektiv också för att synliggöra eventuella avvikelser.

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to examine library directors'views on weeding in Swedish public libraries. The researchquestions posed are: What formal goals and criteria govern theweeding process?; How are these goals and criteria accountedfor?; How do the library directors view the weeding in relationto the roles of the collections?The theoretical framework consists of a division of weedingcriteria inspired by Stanley J. Slote, and a slight adaptation ofMichael K. Buckland's roles of collections.

This thesis examines young people's thoughts about their presence on social media. With asocial constructive approach the study focused on how young people think and act on socialmedia in relation to constructions of gender and normality. The analysis is based on fourgroup interviews with 13-year old boys and girls. The theoretical approach is based partly onsocial constructionism where discourses and ideas of normality are identified and analyzed.Erving Goffman's theory of social interaction was central to illustrate how young peoplepresents themselves based on the prevailing discourses. It is clear that they adjust theirrepresentations of themselves depending on the context.

The purpose of this study was to find out how special needs users ' autonomy and influence in their daily routines is described by their assistants. What interpretations of the concepts of self-determination and influence on special needs users' daily routines emerge from the assistants statements and what conditions can be seen? To reach a conclusion, focus group as a method was used. The focus group met twice to discuss this topic. The diamond method was used as stimulus material to support the discussion in the focus group.
