Denna uppsats handlar om ridportens framväxt i Norrbotten. Syftet med denna uppsats är att utifrån ridsportens framväxt i Norrbotten utreda varför ridsporten gick från en mansdominerad sport till en kvinnodominerad sport. Frågeställningarna jag har använt mig av är, när blev ridsporten i Norrbotten en mer utpräglad kvinnosport? Varför, på vilket sätt skedde denna förändring? Vilka drivkrafter fanns det i samhället och i ridsporten för att göra denna förändring? För att få svar på mina frågeställningar har jag använt mig av en kvalitativ samt kvantitativ metod. Resultatet jag kom fram till var att, när försvaret avhästades och blev motoriserat tappade hästen sin status som maktsymbol för männen och samhället började arbeta för att få ridsporten till en civilsport.

This thesis examines the interaction between European football and the European Union and if it can generate Europeanization. By using theories of Johan P Olsen and Claudo M Radaelli a theoretical framework was constructed in which Europeanization is seen as an interaction between the European level and the domestic level. The Europeanization is regarded as a two way process with elements of top-down and bottom-up pressures. The study focus on the changes and the actors in the Europeanization process and how the European Union as a top-level and European football as a bottom-level influence each other to European changes. The theoretical framework is used to analyze the Bosman case and the Cotonou agreement's implementation in a Swedish football context.

Universeum är ett upplevelsecentrum för naturvetenskap och teknik, ett så kallat Science Centre.I vårt arbete undersöker vi hur vetenskap bäst kommuniceras till barn och ungdomar via textskyltar på ett Science Centre. Vi analyserar vilket språk som bör användas och hur skyltarnas layout ska utformas för att väcka intresse, ge information och lust att lära mer inomnaturvetenskap och teknik. Medier speglar inte verkligheten utan förmedlar endast gestaltningar av verkligheten som människor kommer i kontakt med mer eller mindre dagligen. Journalister väljer och väljer bort vad som ska få utrymme och vad som inte ska få det. Bläddrar man igenom dagstidningar får man lätt intrycket att kvinnor får mindre utrymme än män trots att Sverige anses som mer jämställt än de flesta länder.Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att se hur fördelningen mellan män och kvinnor ser ut i tidningen VK när det gäller artiklar och bilder inom områdena sport och kultur & nöje. Uppsatsen ämnar även att se till vilka genusdiskurser som förekommer.För att besvara frågeställningen tillämpas två olika metoder, en kvantitativ innehållsanalys och en kvalitativ kritisk diskursanalys.Studien utgår från dagordningsteorin och gestaltningsteorin som menar att media innehar en makt genom att de bestämmer vad och hur något framställs.Resultaten visar att när det gäller antal artiklar och bilder i de berörda områdena, är kvinnor underrepresenterade, vilket bekräftar det somtidigare forskningvisar. Diskursen präglas av att män framställs som självständiga subjekt som innehar makt medan kvinnor framställs somsjälvkritiska, ej självständiga och passiva..

The aim of this essay is to create an understanding, of how teachers comprehend knowledge, grades and tests in a school context. It is important to get a grip of the different parts of the teacher?s reality. The test, the grades and knowledge are deeply connected as a part of a whole. The teachers view on knowledge can not be understood without asking about the practical parts of their work and understand how the different parts are dependent on each other.The main material consists of interviews with four teachers that work in a public mandatory school in the south suburbs of Stockholm.

Den här uppsatsen belyser hur Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Expressen och Svenska Dagbladet omskriver fotbollsrelaterat våld i Sverige. I uppsatsen koncentrerar jag mig på kravallerna i matchen mellan Hammarby och Djurgården, som spelades på Söderstadion, den 28 augusti 2006. Syftet med den valda avgränsningen är att utföra en mer fördjupad studie om pressens bemötande av fotbollsrelaterat våld. Den här matchen symboliserar på ett effektfullt sätt de våldsamheter som med jämna mellanrum förekommer i samband med möten mellan rivaliserade lag. Efterspelet till den här matchen har dessutom varit mer omskrivet än någon annan match på svensk mark.

This report documents the process of designing a laboratory exercise in Fourier analysis at Vetenskapens Hus (House of Science) in Stockholm. The lab is designed for high school students studying science or technical education. It focuses on the physicalunderstanding and mathematical description of sound, in particular music. A model of such a lab is presented in this work; containing a review of the mathematical theory, summary of educational research in the field, descriptions of the design process and of the investigativework that led to the final result. The designed material for the lab includes developed computer programs, visit leader tutorial and description for teachers. .

The following essay or thesis is a study over scientific endeavors in the fringe. It is a study of Riksorganisationen UFO-Sverige, whose proponents aim to make the UFO phenomenon (or phenomena) a subject of scientific scrutiny. To achieve this, the ufologists first have to redefine common concepts of ufology as pseudo science or religion, mainly by challenging definitions given by scientific sceptics on the one hand, and proponents of conspiracy theories or the new age environment on the other. Thus UFO-Sverige seeks to construct an alternative scientific identity in contrast to adversaries on both sides, each unwilling to give the UFO phenomenon any further examination. Following the work of Tomas Gieryn's sociological grip on questions of epistemology, especially concerning the social boundaries of science from other cultural categories through what has been labelled as epistemic boundary work, during which proponents of a particular field aim to achieve epistemic authority and thus the legitimate right to define what is and what is not science, I seek to analyze how questions of science and legitimacy are actualized in an intellectual environment or culture not broadly accepted as scientific.

What role should science play in democracy? Political scientists often assume that it is possible to demarcate between ?instrumental? and ?moral? knowledge, and argue that citizens and/or politicians should use their moral knowledge to agree upon political goals and then apply the instrumental knowledge of scientists to achieve them. This straightforward view is challenged by writers in science studies, who identify three major problems in the use of science in democracy: uncertainty, risk and hidden values. They suggest that these problems could be solved through citizen participation.In this essay I perform an analysis of the internal logic of their suggestion. Is it likely that citizen participation enhances the democratic decision making process so as to reduce the problems? The internal analysis shows that it is rational to advocate citizen participation by reasons of legitimacy.

The purpose with this study is to map the research front and the research base in information science, by using the bibliometric methods bibliographic coupling and author-co citation analysis. The research questions are: 1. What is the nature of the research front in information science, regarding which areas that are being studied? 2. What is the nature of the research base in information science, regarding which authors who are most cited, and how they can be grouped? The data used in the study were gathered from articles published in the journal Journal of the American society for information science and technology, published between 2004-2006, respectively 1986-2006.

This essay examines how three big Swedish newspapers depicts e-sports and computer gaming and how the depiction change during 2000-2013. The study will also examine whether e-sports is being portrayed as competitive sport. The purpose is to investigate which attitudes that can be identified towards computer gaming and its culture in major newspapers such as Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter and Svenska Dagbladet and how these attitudes eventually changed over time. The sources that will be used in both the quantitative and qualitative analysis are based on web articles, mainly because the paper editions does not provide much, if any, information about computer gaming and e-sports and also because of the convenience of being able to quickly find articles to study. Results indicate that computer gaming is being depicted in a clear negative fashion during 2000-2006, and that the depiction of e-sports is somewhat positive but not as glorifying as for the years 2007-2013. During this period, there is a apparent tendency of e-sports being introduced to readers who are unfamiliar with the gaming culture. As for the attitudes towards computer gaming, the depiction is still somewhat negative, mainly because the debate about computer games and violence was revived because of several acts of violence in shape of school massacres and mass murder.
