Rapid urbanisation is putting strains on both the landscape and the city dwellers and the pressure on planning for sustainable and equitable cities is crucial. As many cities in Sub-Saharan Africa are expanding, city planning has trouble keeping up to meet the needs of the growing amount of urban dwellers. Many cities have also been planned with the cars in focus and the needs and comfort of the pedestrians have been overlooked. The capacity of institutions is limited due to centralized government and bureaucracy, as well as corruption. Planning is erratically implemented and it is difficult to know what will happen.

This Master´s thesis aims to aquire knowledge about volunteers attitude toward work. It emphasis is on the differences between volunteers and non volunteers. There are four research questions used in order to fulfill the aim in a scientific manner. The essay aims to get in depth knowledge regarding whether or not the respondents feel that they have gained advantages in work life due to the fact that they are involved in volunteer work. One of the pivotal questions is if there is a possibility to see a pattern that binds together the reasons for volunteer work and the attitude toward work.

The Art Library uses the newspaper cuttings archive to provide her customers with newspaperarticles about art. This archive has the following problems; there is little space left inthe paternoster lifts, the articles can only be found on keyword and to maintain the archive,much labour is required.This research aims to find out how the Art Library can provide her customers with newspaperarticles which will cost as little as possible.Six possible solutions are given. Out of these the solution with "Artikel-sok" was recommended.According to this solution the Art Library should no longer maintain the archive, butuse "Artikel-sok", a database from Bibliotekstjänst which contains descriptions of articlesfrom many Swedish newspapers and magazines. These articles can be ordered from Bibliotekstjänst.The old newspaper cuttings archive will be used for articles from before 1979,because these are not being taken up in the "Artikel-sok"..

Social media has today reached a level of maturity similar to the Internet in the beginning of the millennium. More and more people get involved both on a private and professional level and companies are starting to realize the need to keep up with the new online behavior of its target groups. The Investor Relations(IR) function has for a very long time been carried out by writing reports and press releases, but maybe as times change so will the tools needed to communicate the IR-issues for the companies? The purpose of this paper was to examine the views on and involvement in social media for IR-purposes at the four main banks in Sweden: Nordea, SEB, Handelsbanken and Swedbank. The study was carried out in the form of a qualitative case study in which the banks were analyzed separately with the help of Davids and Venkateshs TAM2-model(2000) and also analyzed against one another.

The purpose of this study is to investigate? how a professional librarian can support the work with pupils, age six to twelve years, in their reading and linguistic development? how the conditions at the school have to be for this to become possible? what kind of attitudes the teachers have, and how they relate to the impact of a librarian for the pupils reading and linguistic development.The methods used are analyses of steering documents concerning school libraries and analyses of the means of the local school culture. The latter has been carried out by literature studies and through interviews of eight teachers and two school librarians. The result of the interviews showed a limited insight into how a professional librarian can support and assist teachers and pupils in the work with reading and linguistic development. They also showed the influence of existing traditions and local school culture for the use of a librarian?s services, and also how all the teachers, once they have become used to the services a librarian can provide, now find their support invaluable.

Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att ta fram badrumsinteriör för företaget Space Interiör innehållande kommod, spegelskåp och högskåp eller motsvarande. Bakgrunden till projektet har varit att uppdragsgivaren önskat att utveckla sitt sortiment för badrumsinredning. Målgruppen för projektet var enligt angivelse personer under 35 år boendes på en yta mindre än 50 m2. Nyckelorden från företaget var smart förvaring samt innovation.Den teori som behandlats i projektet rör sådan som varit relevant för utvecklingsarbetet så som ergonomi, material och dess underhåll, standarder samt det som påverkar det estetiska uttrycket. Arbetet har varit målstyrt och har därför utförts enligt en stage-gate-modell som lämpar sig för denna typ av projekt.

This project practise methods used in the interaction design discipline to develop a concept related to the Swedish Guinness World Records Magazine. This project is a challenge to accommodate both the users? and client?s needs. We focus on interaction and the experience, which is acquired through the use itself, and how to connect it to a theme from a client. The aim of this project is to create a meeting place for children where they can interact with technology.

Until recently the Danish government was hesitant about whether investments in climate and energy policies were the right strategy for Denmark. Today the Danish government argues that during the forthcoming climate conference in Copenhagen in 2009 (COP15), the world's countries must agree upon ambitious climate objectives. Denmark is together with EU-27 aiming at an ambitious climate agreement. This thesis intends to contribute with an understanding of why Denmark, both politically and economically, invests profound resources into committing the world's countries to a climate agreement. The study uses both a neoliberal institutionalism and a constructivist theory in analyzing the Danish engagement.

The purpose of this study is to examine secondary teachers' perceptions of conflict, conflict management, conflict prevention and conflict communication. In addition to theory, I conducted individual interviews and focus group discussions. Most teachers have a common view and argues that a conflict occurs when two or more individuals do not agree on something. Typical conflicts are about grades, teachers' changing professional roles and cellphones in the classroom. In my view, it seems as if the mobile phone has taken over the core conflict that caps created for some 10 years ago, functioning now as the dominant symbol in an ongoing development process providing space for meeting and dealing with conflicts in a constructive way..

The purpose of this study is to examine the physical space of children?s libraries in Sweden, and also to see which influences there are in the literature about the same subject. What ideas exist in the literature about the physical room of children?s libraries? We have studied how and if these influences can be seen in a selected number of children?s libraries. Our theoretical perspective is based on Anthony Gidden?s theory of construction.

To start a company on the Internet is something that has appealed a lot of people during the last couple of years. Some of the companies have succeeded in their struggle but a lot of companies have failed to live out their ambition. This paper deals with the concept of e-commerce and aims to study whether or not the companies that has succeeded has made use of business models and what other factors that is important that you wont find in any written theory.The paper also aims to study the concept of business models and what a business model consists of. To be able to do this research we have interviewed three different companies that are all active in e-commerce and have survived for at least three years. Two of the companies are classical web shops that sell products to their customers and the last one is a site with articles about hardware and IT business in general.

The purpose of this paper is to bring a British mural painting that originated in England in the 1920?s into the limelight and introduce it to the Swedish public. The mural was commissioned by Tate Gallery, currently known as Tate Britain. The work of art was designed for a semi-public space as a decoration in the Refreshment Room of the gallery, located in the basement where there was little natural light. The artist, a young British man named Rex Whistler, was transformed from being a student at an art school into a celebrated professional artist by this piece of art.

Denna uppsats är uppdelad i två delstudier där syftet med delstudie ett var att utarbeta ett tinnitusspecifikt självskattningsformulär för acceptans, samt undersöka dess psykometriska egenskaper, normer och faktorstruktur. Syftet med delstudie två var att bland tinnituspatienter undersöka det prediktiva värdet av acceptans avseende senare tinnitusbesvär och livskvalitet, när man kontrollerar för depression och ångest. Detta då acceptans i en rad studier visat sig vara relaterat till ett antal mått på livskvalitet, psykopatologi, stress, smärta, jobbprestation och negativ affektivitet (Hayes, Luoma et al., 2006).Delstudie två var en longitudinell korrelationsstudie med ett tidsintervall på 7 månader. Deltagarna i studierna var tinnituspatienter från Öronmottagningen på Universitetssjukhuset i Linköping och uppgick i delstudie ett till 77 personer och i delstudie två till 47.Resultaten i delstudie ett visar att ett tinnitusspecifikt acceptansmått kunde utarbetas med adekvat frekvensdistribution samt god intern konsistens och test-retest reliabilitet. Detta acceptansmått har två faktorer där den första är activity engagement och den andra är tinnitus willingness.Resultaten i delstudie två visar att såväl specifik som generell acceptans har ett starkt signifikant samband med senare tinnitusbesvär och ett måttligt signifikant samband med senare livskvalitet.

The EU?s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) aims to standardise corporate sustainability reporting, making practices more transparent and comparable. This directive seeks to enhance sustainability practices and guide market forces towards sustainability, supporting the EU?s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

I den här uppsatsen undersöks bokträdets (Fagus sylvatica) förmåga att skapa olika sorters platser och rum. Detta sker dels genom en litteraturstudie och dels genom analyser av fyra platser i Alnarp Västerskogs bokbestånd. Två olika sorters analyser har gjorts; en känslostyrd med skiss och prosa som verktyg; samt en begreppsstyrd med utgångspunkt i litteraturstudien och med fotografi som verktyg. Förhoppningen har varit att på så sätt få en bredare bild av platserna och upplevelsen av dem. Vidare har litteraturstudien berört fenomenen plats och rum samt hur vi med hjälp av växter som en slags byggstenar kan skapa dessa rumsliga miljöer..
