Ultrasound is a diagnostic aid often overlooked by the veterinary practicioner who works with farm-animals. However, it?s use increases, particulary for breeders where ultrasound has long been used to evaluate ovaries and to diagnose pregnancy or disturbances in reproduction. There is much knowledge in how to examine ovaries and uterus by transrectal ultrasound, but when it comes to doing ultrasound of other organs in the abdomen the knowledge is more limited. Cows are very large animals, so it is not possible to examine everything inside the abdomen with ultrasound, simply because the ultrasound beam has a limited penetration. There is also lots of gas inside the gastro-intestinal tract of a cow, mainly in the large intestine and the rumen, and that makes it impossible to examine the organs behind the gas since the ultrasound waves are reflected when reaching the soft tissue-gas interface.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka hur en population av potentiellt blivande föräldrar i åldrarna 20-40 år önskar att handläggning av informationen kring ultraljudsmarkörer bör se ut. Studien utformades som en pilotstudie med bekvämlighetsurval, och en enkät med parametrar fördelade på 11 scenarion utarbetades. Enkäten delades ut på föreläsningar i och omkring Stockholm i april 2012. 49 kvinnor och 36 män deltog i undersökningen. Potentiellt blivande föräldrar vill ofta få information om upptäckta softmarkers.

Människor som är sjuka/skadade söker sig dagligen till akutmottagningar i hopp om att få hjälp. Där arbetar det flera olika personalkategorier som ansvarar för att dessa människor skall få bästa möjliga vård. Det har kommit in rapporter om att patienter inte alltid har upplevt att de blivit mottagna på ett värdigt sätt. Denna litteraturstudies syfte är att beskriva patienters upplevelse av mötet med vårdpersonal på akutmottagningar. Metoden är en litteraturstudie där sju kvalitativa artiklar analyserats enligt Evans (2003) kvalitativa analysmodell.

It is now increasingly common for organisations to work actively with HR issues. Furthermore, it is a constant top priority for organisations to remain profitable. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether so called soft HR values, as manager?s communication skills, has an actual impact on hard values in terms of costs for the organisation. Leadership is largely characterised by emotional communication, which together with personnel costs were the main focus of the research.

Pastern dermatitis is a common condition among horses. It is a symptom, a reaction in the skin of the pastern rather than a diagnose. There are a lot of homemade treatments when you ask horse owners how they handle pastern dermatitis, but what does the science say about how it should be treated? Today there is a growing problem with antibiotic resistance, but how good are the veterinarians on testing for resistance before they describe antibiotics? Bacteria and fungus is seldom the primary cause for pastern dermatitis, the reaction is often secondary to environmental factors. It?s difficult to diagnose the primary factor and it´s even more difficult when the horse has been treated in different ways before the veterinarian gets involved.

An investigation of the heat impact of laser cutting on the material properties when producing tensile and impact test specimens of different steel types of varying thickness has been performed. The purpose of the thesis project was to provide recommendations regarding how much material that needs to be milled from the laser cut edge before tensile and impact tests. The study has been performed partly by investigating the test specimens by heat camera when the specimens were cut in the laser cutting line and partly by performing hardness tests, investigation by microscopy, and tolerance and roughness measurements and tensile tests of the laser cut material and material produced in the traditional multi operation machine. The results show that the heat affected zone in the thicker materials is greater than previously thought of, and that the currently used recommendation has to be adjusted. The study clearly shows that the thicker the material, the greater the heat affected zone, independently of the steel type, since the thicker material takes longer time to cut.

The purpose of the study was to describe hemodialysis patients self-reporting salt habits associated with cooking and food intake. Furthermore, the purpose was to investigate possible differences in inter Dialyze significant weight gain at low and high self-reported salt consumption. The study was an empirical descriptive study of comparative features and consisted of a convenience sample from two hemodialysis units in southern Norrland. Study group consisted of 37 persons who had been ongoing hemodialysis treatment and their age ranged from 42-86 years. A questionnaire was used in two parts and both parts contained 15 foods.

Purpose: The main purpose of the thesis is to examine the consequences of applying IAS40 on the Swedish real estate companies? annual reports. How does its application affect the companies? stockholders? capital and how do the companies solve the problems that occur due to the application of this standard.Method: The authors use both the qualitative and quantitative approaches to process the thesis. The primary data comprises of hard data in form of annual reports and the secondary data consists of the soft data as direct interviews and email interviews.Theory: There aren?t any theories on the subject.

When a municipality is about to realize an IT investment, e.g. an economy system, theywill need to do procurement according to the laws of procurements. To perform suchprocurement takes time and energy from the everyday work at the municipalities, andtherefore they want to make a quick and efficient procurement. Unfortunately it showsthat municipalities do not always make an assessment that is sufficient enough for theirneeds, which can result in an inefficient system in a longer perspective. Municipalitiesthink more often about the hard values such as costs of the investments, and not alwaysas much when it comes to the soft values, like the user-friendliness.

For several years Uppsala University together with several companies has been involved in a WISENET project aimed at improving railway transport security. By placing a sensor system near the wheels of each wagon, the temperature of the bearings can be measured and transmitted to a collector placed centrally on the wagon. This in turn transmits the collected data to RFID receivers placed intermittently along the railway.As the signals are transmitted wirelessly, problems may occur as the antennas get dirty or coated with ice and snow. To determine the effects of these coatings, several tests were performed examining the reflection coefficient S11, the impedance Z11 and the efficiency eta of an antenna, and how they varied when various coatings were placed over the antenna. Examined coatings were ice, snow and water to determine the effects of weather, and various metal-based coatings: powdered iron both pure and partially oxidized, and iron ore granules.

Med anledning av gremmeniellasvampens (gremmeniella abietina) utbredning i våra skogar i dag och konsekvenserna det för med sig, vill skogsvårdsorganisationen så snart som möjligt få fram en metod för att lokalisera angreppen och bedöma omfattningen av skadorna. I denna uppsats har jag därför undersökt vilka våglängdsband som är mest lämpade för att lokalisera gremmeniellan och vilka som är mest lämpade för att skilja skadorna från gallringar och utifrån det ge rekommendationer till skogsvårdsstyrelsen för deras fortsatta arbete. Resultaten blev att våglängdsband 3, 5 eller 7 från Landsat satellitens TM sensor är de band som ger bäst resultat för att skilja ut bestånd där förändring har skett från bestånd som visar sig vara oförändrade. Enforma använder skillnadsbilder från enstaka våglängdsband. En kombination av två eller flera våglängdsband, samt inkludering av data från ursprungsbilden skulle höja noggrannheten i den statistiska analysen något.

Purpose: We will understand and explain Dell?s value gap through an extended intellectual capital theory. This will be done by deriving the value to the different parts of the intellectual capital value scheme. We will also use value scheme to describe the ongoing strategy shift. Methodology: The qualitative method and an abductive reasoning have been employed during the progress.

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka prevalensen av obstruktiva problem från de övre luftvägarna hos svenska travhästar vid maximal ansträngning. Undersökningen genomförs med hjälp av en ny typ av utrustning där man kan endoskopera hästar under maximalt arbete på en travbana.Tidigare har undersökning med endoskopi på rullmatta varit enda sättet att undersöka hästar under ansträngning, men tack vare ny teknik är det nu möjligt att göra det vid maximalt arbete, under för hästen normala tävlingsförhållanden. I studien ingår 110 varmblodiga travhästar som sökt för missljud från de övre luftvägarna, nedsatt prestation eller båda delarna. Hästarna undersöktes med endoskopi, både i vila och under maximalt arbete. Resultaten i vila och vid arbete har sedan jämförts.Diagnostiska bilder har erhållits från samtliga hästar och därmed kan prevalensen beräknas i den undersökta populationen.

Idag ses ett ökat intresse för användandet av rörelseanalys inom olika sammanhang t.ex. övervakning, dataspel och diagnostisk undersökning av personers rörelsemönster med mera. Optisk rörelseanalys är den teknik som finns mest idag, men de systemen är dyra och saknar lämplig mjukvara för klinisk användning.En forskargrupp vid centrum för medicinsk teknik och strålningsfysik (CMTS) forskning och utvecklings avdelning (MT-FoU) vid Norrlands universitetssjukhus har sedan 2007 jobbat med en produktidé som bygger på att skapa ett nytt mobilt system för rörelseanalys som kan användas i medicinska undersökningar. Ett Arduino pro mini kort samt ett 9-axligt prototypkort som består av MPU-6000 och en magnetometer HMC5883L är anskaffat för att tillverka ett system i detta syfte.Syftet med projektet har varit att skapa ett verktyg som kan samla in rörelsemönster för att sedan presentera resultatet i ett diagram. Systemet skulle kunna samla in data från en sensor som inkluderar en 3D-accelerometer ett 3D-gyroskop och en 3D magnetometer för att därefter skicka det vidare till en dator där mätdata presenteras visuellt och sparas undan i en textfil.En viktig detalj att ta hänsyn till vid konstruktionen av det nya systemet var att konstruktionen gjordes med hjälp av billiga standardkomponenter och kretskort.

Today`s society requires that municipalities focus must be more on effectivity and quality. Because of this it is important for municipalities to look after the controlling systems. Many municipalities choose to adopt models that reflect the efficacy. The municipality of Vellinge has chosen to implement balanced scorecard in all their efficacies. We found it interesting when it was exposed that 70 % of all implementations of balanced scorecard fails.
