The number of hidden refugees in Sweden is estimated to be at least 15,000. The law, which only allows this group a very limited access to health care, can be considered to clash with the human rights and the ethical codes related to the health care professionals.The aim of the study was to examine how the personnel in public health care may experience treating hidden refugees and which ethical conflicts that may be connected to this. The study, which is of a qualitative descriptive design, is based on eight semi-structured interviews. The interviewees were trained nurses and mid-wives in an emergency room, a maternity ward and a health care centre for asylum seekers.The experience of treating hidden refugees amongst the informants was limited. The study proved that the knowledge of laws and guidelines regarding hidden refugees amongst the interviewed health care personnel was poor.

This Masters thesis aims at investigating how 15-year old girls use the Internet, particularly on their free time, taking a source critical perspective. It includes group interviews. The main question of this thesis was whether there is a need for specific user education. The following four questions were asked: What do they do on the Internet during their free time? In what way do the girls learn how to interact with each other on the Internet? How do they relate to different types of web pages and materials from a source critical aspect? What content do they consider to be relevant in a user education? The study is mainly focused on information use and information behaviour in different contexts.

It is a qualitative study that describes and analyzes how professionals deal with social issues of inclusiveness and ethics in the investigation of cases involving interventions for adolescents. The focus is on the strategies that staff in social services expressed in terms of obstacles and opportunities for working participatively and especially when it comes to dealing with ethical dilemmas that may arise.    The method used was qualitative research interviews. Five social workers from two different municipalities were interviewed and the material is analyzed on the basis of socio-cultural theory and organizational theory. Themes that emerged were participation, ethics, discretion and flexibility, collaboration, organization, skills and time. The main obstacles that have emerged in the study are that those who work in social services have had been difficulties to fully create participation due to various factors.

En utveckling i dagens systemutvecklingsprojekt går mot att använda flera olika perspektiv vid utformning av ett informationssystem, exempelvis social kontext och sociologiska- och psykologiska aspekter. Kritik som idag riktas mot informationssystem är att systemen inte motsvarar de krav som finns från de olika intressenterna. Denna rapporten innehåller en presentation av de mål och egenskaper som anses vara viktiga vid utformning av ett informationssystem, för såväl systemutvecklare som användare. Mitt arbete har omfattat en empirisk undersökning samt en litteraturstudie. Den empiriska undersökningen har innefattat tre stycken djupintervjuer med systemutvecklare och användare av informationssystem.

Denna studie handlar om relationen mellan narkotikamissbrukare och samhällets organisering av ansvar, tvång och omvårdnad i Sverige. Syftet är att bidra till en djupare förståelse av hur narkotikamissbrukare blir bemötta av samhället och vilka val de ställs inför.Med hjälp av kvalitativ data har uppsatsens syfte varit att belysa tvångsvårdens betydelse för narkotikamissbrukarnas självidentitet och frihet som enskilda individer. Undersökningen har genomförts med hjälp av ansvariga på myndigheter inom narkotikaområdet, sociologiska teorier samt lagtexter som pekar på en djupare förståelse av individer med narkotikaproblem samt hur den svenska tvångsvården motiveras. Resultatet i uppsatsen redovisas med intervjuer från respondenter som arbetar inom narkotikamissbruk på institutioner och vi presenterar även teorier som anknyter till vår undersökning. Avslutningsvis diskuterar vi undersökningen i sin helhet. .

I denna uppsats har jag lagt min fokus på hur begreppen frihet och ofrihet har påverkat hur vi individer upplever frihet och ofrihet i vår vardag och jämfört svaren jag fick från intervjupersonerna med några av de existerande teorierna kring detta. Jag tar även upp hur konsumtion, individualisering och identitet påverkar individen och hur dessa begrepp har påverkat individens syn på sin omkringliggande miljö. Mitt tillvägagångssätt blev kvalitativa intervjuer med individer som inte har studerat beteendevetenskapliga ämnen på högre nivå, detta för att få en diskussion med dem som aldrig berört ämnet tidigare och därför få svar som aldrig har påverkats av den sociologiska litteraturen. För att få tag på teorier valde jag att använda mig huvudsakligen av böcker. Mitt resultat blev att ofrihet och frihet hänger ihop, att man måste ha den ena för att kunna känna av det andra och att vi ständigt påverkas av vår ofrihet för att uppnå vår individuella version av vad frihet är..

This essay investigates the function of fictional space and thematics in Line Knutzon?s dramatic works.My main theoretical concept is thematic unity, factors that unite several plays by one author.I have found three major themes: the encounter, identity and childhood, which I study in five of Knutzon?s plays: The Splint In The Heart, The Latest Thing, First You?re Born, The Air Others Breathe and The Time Will Soon Come.I study three aspects of space: fictive space, where the play is set, the characters? inner space and exterior space, that which is outside fictive space: society. Fictive space is shown mainly via dialogue and context.It is evident that the themes, most clearly visible in the five chosen plays, are very important in Line Knutzon?s dramatic works. Most typical is the way she portrays childhood memories, in monologues showing that her characters exist in a ?hole?, in the void between childhood and adulthood.My investigation leads to the conclusion that Knutzon deals with existential matters: there is a kind of constant chaos, within her characters, expressed in actions and thoughts.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att belysa en utvecklingsprocess och ett möjligt förhållningssätt till upplevelsekunskap där samband mellan slumpmässiga händelser, kreativitet, improvisation och meningsskapande har varit särskilt betydelsefulla. Mitt c-arbete består av två separata delar: Dels en film och dels ett skriftligt arbete, där båda arbeten utgår ifrån ett och samma problemområde. Jag har använt mig av en interaktiv metod med inspiration från antropologiska metoder, självetnografi och sociologiska idéer om själva deltagandet och berättandet som verktyg. Jag har utvidgat min förståelsehorisont och utmanat mina värderingar. Jag har ifrågasatt mig själv som berättare och blivande regissör och många av de värderingar vårt samhälle bygger på.

Many political reforms are currently implemented in the Swedish schools. The trend indicate that education in Sweden follows neo-liberal restructuring policy, that highlights assessment, marketization and surveillance in different aspects. According to the new curriculum LGR 11 the school head is the school's educational leader with responsibility for the school's results and development. The reforms put new demands on the school heads tasks, their responsibility and leadership. The aim of my research study is to investigate how the school heads experience andhandle this situation.

De eventuella orsakssambanden bakom en ofta observerad säsongsvariation i en populations självmordsfrekvens är ett debatterat ämne inom många vetenskapliga discipliner. Sociologiska och psykologiska förklaringsmodeller omfattar variabler som tjänar till att mäta graden av social integrering medan variabler som konjunkturcykel och arbetslöshetsnivå är förhärskande när ett ekonomiskt perspektiv anläggs.Denna studie tillämpar en paneldataanalys för att utröna huruvida det föreligger ett samband mellan svenska självmordsfrekvenser och tre strikt exogena variabler: sol, nederbörd och temperatur. Data är insamlat mellan 1987 och 2004. En säsongsbundenhet i självmordfrekvensen påträffas med olika utseende för norra, södra respektive mellansverige. Vidare visar sig lokala skillnader i vädrets effekt på självmordfrekvensen.

The purpose of this essay was to study how school welfare officers cooperate with other school staff, regarding children in vulnerable positions, and how the school staff apply their obligation to report to the social services if they have concerns regarding children at risk, according to the law of social service, SoL.We have especially focused on questions concerning cooperation, both between the school staff, and between the school and the social services. We also wanted to identify some of the restraining factors and dilemmas that could come up during the process of reporting children at risk to the social services. The study was based on qualitative interviews with ten school welfare officers from the same municipality.Our conclusions of our study are that there exists a well-developed cooperation between several organizational levels, including the school welfare officers, other professions in the schools and the social services. There were though opinions among the school welfare officers that they wanted to increase their professional claims in relation to the school nurse, due to their larger competence in talking to children. Regarding the formal responsibility to report to the social services, a majority of the school welfare officers felt they had access to the support they needed from both their principal and the students healthcare-team, and that they were not left alone in the process..

Denna uppsats handlar om människor som levt med missbruk och beroende och tillfrisknat. Likt titeln att göra en svängom (direkt översatt från engelskans ?make the turn?) som är ett slangutryck för att sluta med droger, har avsikten varit att försöka förstå varför människor hamnar i beroende. Med hjälp av kvalitativa data i form av intervjuer och teoretiskt lärande har uppsatsens syfte varit att belysa alkohol- och narkotikaberoende. Resultat har framkommit med hjälp av informanternas svar och sociologiska teorier som pekar på att ökad förståelse för människor med beroende kan tänkas ge en inblick i varför individer utför ett visst handlande som inte anses vara socialt accepterat.

Our aim of this study is to analyze how the concept of reasonable standard of living is by assistance officers in geriatric care, as well as the impact of their discretion on the assessment. We conducted a qualitative study with the help of interviews. During the collection of the empirical material, we have experienced greater confusion among assistance officers opinion about the concept of reasonable standard of living. We lacked a clear answer to the concept content. The interview subjects' responses did not differ so much, they said, among other things, that the concept is difficult to interpret, fuzzy, or that they do not have a good understanding of it.

The purpose of this study was to examine social workers apprehensions about institutional placement of youths and what determines when these proceedings are used. When research not always shows that institutional placements lead to positive changes for youngsters, we wondered how social workers act on their assessment to institutional placement. We wanted to find out if the social workers meet any dilemmas along the way. To find out about that we used qualitative interviews with ten social workers, who worked in social service and came from different places in the southern parts of Sweden. To analyze our material we used the theory of human service organization and street-level bureaucrats work situation.
