Popular culture is a phenomenon of growing importance in the society today. Children and teenagers are increasingly using popular culture in their everyday life to reflect and answer questions about their identities and the meaning of life. Swedish primary and upper secondary schools are expected to prepare their students for adulthood and to provide them with tools to explain understand and problematize contemporary society. From this perspective it is relevant to question whether the schools achieve this and whether the instruction given there represents the contemporary society. For the purpose of knowing more about how popular culture is perceived and dealt with in the Swedish education system, this study examines how eight textbooks in Religious Education (RE) and the national curriculum for upper secondary school discuss and treat popular culture.  The study focuses on when and in what ways the textbooks mention popular culture and if the curriculum provides any supportive base for including popular culture in religious education.

Analysen syftar till att studera hur Ikeakatalogens modelläsare konstrueras i förhållande till familjen som social praktik idag genom att studera hur diskursen har förändrats över tid. Nedan följer en diakron multimodal textanalys av fem svenska Ikeakataloger mellan 1973 och 2013. Analysen tar i första hand avstamp i ett sociolingvistiskt perspektiv med Hallidays systemisk-funktionella lingvistik, SFL, som grundverktyg men då analysunderlaget innehåller en stor del bilder finns även ett sociosemiotiskt perspektiv. Dessa inslag vilar på Kress och van Leeuwens applikation av SFL vad gäller tolkning av andra semiotiska artefakter än verbalt språk.Analysen visar att säljdiskursen har genomgått en betydande förändring under de senaste 40 åren. Sedan millennieskiftet marknadsförs inte längre inredning med argumenten kvalitet eller design.

The outset of this study is to contribute to the literature concerning China?s increasing economic interest to engage in the African context, its economies and resource abundandce. The overarching research problem is that the approaches held by the respective African state entities may facilitate increasing development gains for the recipient state of this economic interest in principle. To adress this research problem the study is undertaken by conducting a comparative case study where three cases/states, with presumably diverging economic and political status, are likely to effect their overall state approaches differently.Research questions, which are addressed by the creation of an idealtype analytic matrix, concern whether the states of South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe take on a more ?permissive? or ?restrictive? approach towards China?s economic interst and whether the approaches can be looked upon on both aggratege and case/area-specific levels.The main findings are that a clear tendency of the ?permissive approach? may be noted on a aggregate level for all cases.

In the early nineties leisure-time pedagogic establishments moved in to school. The aim of the study is to try to find out how leisure-time pedagogues, who have been working for a long time, experience the moving of their establishment in to school and how this affect their practical work and their profession.The study is based on interviewes with four leisure-time pedagogues, who all have been working before?and therefore have experienced the time before?during and after their establishment moved in to school.These interviewes were recorded and later fully transcribed in preparation of analysis. Data was analysed with the help of the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu as a basis. Findings of the study suggest that the leisure-time pedagogues find it positive to be able to cooperate with teachers and other professional groups working in school, they explain how it enabels themselves to see pupils from a different angle and for others working in school to see pupils from a leisure-time pedagogue angle.Some of the pedagogues explain that they find it hard to work with big groups of pupils, or in small surfaces, which they did not have to do before their establishment moved into school.

I have decided to look at the small group of males that actually started the education to become teachers and why they did it when the profession as teacher today is low-paid, low status and is a profession with a large dominance of female teachers. I have chosen to write about this because of the importance for the children to meet both men and women as teachers in the early schoolyears.

Den här uppsatsen handlar om individer som är uppväxta i två närliggande statsdelar i Uppsala under 1990- 2000-talet.  Den ena stadsdelen är ett högstatusområde och det andra området är ett lågstatusområde. Mellan områdena finns betydande skillnader gällande etnisk sammansättning, arbetslöshet, boendeform och inkomst. I högstadiet blandas ungdomarna från respektive bostadsområde. Syftet med uppsatsen är att genom intervjuer undersöka och analysera relationen mellan individerna från de olika stadsdelarna, om det fanns en känsla av ?vi och dom? och hur den tog sig i uttryck samt hur det påverkade ungdomars identitetsskapande.

Socioekonomiska villkor under livsloppet påverkar ålderdomen på många olika sätt. Individer som haft en lägre socioekonomisk position löper bland annat en större risk att dö i förtid och drabbas av ohälsa. Syftet med studien är att studera människors livslopp med fokus på olika socioekonomiska villkor under uppväxt och livet fram till pensionen ur ett retrospektivt perspektiv. Kärnan i uppsatsen är att undersöka deltagarnas livslopp utifrån en historisk och individuell kontext och analysera hur den subjektiva upplevelsen av livskvalitet ser ut i ålderdomen.Studiens undersökningsdesign bygger på livsloppsintervjuer och kompletterande enkät. Deltagarna är födda under trettio och fyrtiotalet och samtliga är pensionärer.

The aim of this study is to investigate where and why the fitness clubs, Sats and Friskis & Svettis in Stockholms county, choose to locate their facilities in certain places and which their primarily targetgroups are. Furthermore, the aim is to gain knowledge of people?s health status in areas where the facilities are located, in order to see if they are located where exercise is most needed. Interviews were conducted with members of the fitness clubs but also with non members, i.e. people who lived in areas with an absence of fitness facilities.

Läraryrkets ställning är ett återkommande tema i dagens debatter om skolan. Denna studie försöker kartlägga hur läraryrkets ställning såg ut på 1800-talet, genom att jämföra enskilda lärares minnesanteckningar med den utbildningshistoriska forskning som finns om ämnet idag, samt genom en internationell jämförelse. Lärarminnena som utgör källmaterialet till denna studie är skrivna av fyra manliga folkskollärare och en kvinnlig småskolelärarinna. Den forskningen som fungerar som den teoretiska ramen för denna studie har avgränsat tre strukturer som formar läraryrket: den sociala strukturen, den kulturella strukturen samt lärares agentskap. Uppsatsens syfte är att öka kunskapen om läraryrkets status under 1800-talet genom att undersöka huruvida dessa strukturer har påverkat lärarens ställning.

Öring (Salmo trutta) och stensimpa (Cottus gobio) är två vanligt förekommande arter i Sverige. En fråga som lyfts allt mer frekvent i olika artiklar och publikationer är hur dessa två arter påverkar varandra och vilka faktorer som påverkar denna interaktion. (Gabler & Amundsen 1999, Holmen et al. 2003, Elliot 2006, Hesthagen et al. 2010).

Climate change is expected to lead to increased rainfall and higher temperatures, among other things. This will have a major impact on our cities. Floods can lead to property damage as well as damages to human and animal health. Higher temperatures will increase the frequency of heat-related health risks and premature deaths. The consequences of climate change will be particularly large in our cities because of the city's morphology with a high amount of paved surfaces and buildings that affect the natural processes in areas such as drainage and absorption of solar radiation.

The purpose of this paper is to study and describe the occurrence and conditions of aesthetic subjects and choral singing in Swedish upper secondary schools 2014. The paper is based on seven recorded individual interviews with three music teachers, four principals and one director of education in three upper secondary schools in Sweden. The study uses discursive psychology and the interviews were analysed with focus on music teachers and school leaders interpretative repertoires and rhetorical strategies and how they use the language to legitimate aesthetic subjects in an upper secondary school context. In the most recent upper secondary school reform of 2011 the aesthetic subjects are no longer mandatory. Today there are different ways to provide opportunities for the students to participate in music activities but since the government no longer decides how it shall be implemented it is up to the management of each school to determine the activities.The statement made by the informants are interesting in relation to the status of music subjects, but due to the limited scope of the paper, no general conclusions can be drawn.

Både människor och djur har i alla tider och alla kulturer sett vissa individer i sin omgivning som ledare. De har känt sig manade att lyssna på dem, följa dem och tro på dem. Jag har intresserat mig för vad det är som föranleder detta beteende, eftersom det är min fasta övertygelse att det styr vårt samspel med andra individer än idag, överallt och ständigt. I sökandet efter en biologisk förklaring, där vissa egenskaper och kroppsliga attribut sannolikt spelar betydligt större roll än andra, har jag utgått ifrån begreppet hög social status (äv. högstatus).

The distribution of work related tasks depending on gender leads to different appraisal depending on which gender is performing a task. This aim of this research is to study how gender differences influence task allocation within the restaurant industry. The study is inspired by a discourse analysis perspective complemented by constructivist and critical pragmatic theory. Interviews were conducted in two focus groups with seven participants in total. The analysis is divided into four sections which answer six discourse analytical questions using the interview material.
