The purpose of doing this research except for educational reasons is to show significant effects that make motivational work successful. The choice of subject we decided out of experience from the term of practise. The description of the subject is from the social workers angle of approach. The method we used is a qualitative study with semi structured interviews. We have looked at three different fields of social work from the view of six social workers, two from each field.

Research about social support and social networks has mostly concerned the impact on a person?s wellbeing and health. However an aspect largely neglected is how social support within the social networks can affect the process of giving up a drug abuse. The purpose of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of what role the social support within different relationships can have on the process of giving up drug abuse. Furthermore the aim is to examine how a self-help group can provide social support in the transitional period after leaving a drug abuse.

I samband med skolans decentralisering på 1980-talet uppstod det krav på att lärare skulle bli mer professionella i sin yrkesutövning. Då regeringen ställer högre krav på lärarna är det därför nu naturligt att de går lärarna till mötes då det gäller en utredning om lärarauktorisation.Vi valde att ställa oss frågan hur lärarfacklig press argumenterar för eller emot en lärarauktorisation för att uppnå det specifika syftet som är: att belysa vad en lärarauktorisation kan betyda för lärarkårens professionaliseringssträvanden.I vår empiriska undersökning valde vi att förhålla oss till metoden argumentationsanalys då metoden lämpar sig bra när argument skall lyftas ut och förstås ur tidsskrifter. Mer specifikt valde vi att förhålla oss till modellen orsak-problem-lösning för att få en överblick av och en insikt i argumentationen för eller emot en auktorisering.Med hjälp av metoden kom vi fram till att argumenten i hög grad kunde härledas till lärares professionaliseringssträvan mot "social stängning". Detta innebär att en eventuell lärarauktorisation skulle betyda en hel del för lärarkåren, exempelvis att lärarkåren lyckas avgränsa sig gentemot andra yrken och därmed kanske på sikt uppnå högre status..

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine the portrayals of class in four Swedish contemporary novels that have been mentioned as working class literature in the literary public sphere. During the 20th century, society has undergone vast changes due to globalization and technology development. The rise in standards of living for most people in the Western societies has led to changed consumption patterns. In consequence, there has been increased emphasis given to cultural rather than materialist explanations of social stratification.

This is a qualitative study of how some journalists on the Swedish national media are using social media in news work. The study, carried out by using interviews, also covers how these journalists' work is influenced by social media. For the journalists in the study social media has become a tool to do research, get news ideas and find interviewees. At the same time social media affects the work of the journalists, as the social media increases the speed of news and flow of information. The purpose of this study is to examine what factors that motivate people to work in professions with an explicit and inherent risk of threats and violence. By using a qualitative study and conducting in-depth interviews with eight security guards and doormen with experience from working at restaurants and nightclubs, the study could conclude that the interviewed security guards and doormen were motivated mainly by economic incentives and the social interaction that the profession entails. Status and riskiness of the profession did also, to a certain extent, contribute to the motivation. The professions' lack of advancement opportunities were frequently mentioned as the main reason to why one chose to leave the position, or consider the time in the profession as limited..

The purpose of this study was to examine social workers apprehensions about institutional placement of youths and what determines when these proceedings are used. When research not always shows that institutional placements lead to positive changes for youngsters, we wondered how social workers act on their assessment to institutional placement. We wanted to find out if the social workers meet any dilemmas along the way. To find out about that we used qualitative interviews with ten social workers, who worked in social service and came from different places in the southern parts of Sweden. To analyze our material we used the theory of human service organization and street-level bureaucrats work situation.

India is home to every sixth person in the world, some 30 million dogs and a quarter of the total world cattle population. A vast majority of Indians are Hindus, and even though the Hindu religion proclaims love, nurturing and worshipping of animals, sometimes the same religion constitutes an obstacle for animal welfare in practice. This paper investigates the significance of historic and religious symbols to the way animals are perceived in modern Indian society, as well as the different social factors which underlie attitudes to animals. The concept of karma, as well as that of good versus bad deaths, is probably the foundation of the general Hindu reluctance to euthanasia in any form. Although in theory all species are generally regarded as equal in Hinduism, in practice there seems to be a differentiation; for cultural, religious, medical and financial reasons.

I denna uppsats undersöks hur användarna på det virtuella nätverket facebook väljer att framställa sig själva samt vad som ger Social status därpå, och detta ur ett genusperspektiv. Facebook är ett socialt virtuellt nätverk som baserar dig på relationer förankrade utanför internet, och har på en mycket kort tid nått en stor spridning. Facebook är därför en social arena som möjliggör nya möjligheter men även begräsningar i presentationen av jaget. Uppsatsens resultat baseras på en innehållsanalys av statusuppdateringar och bilder från facebook, som analyserats utifrån relevant sociologisk teoribildning. De resultat som framkommit ur analysen tyder på att den framställning som görs av användarna på facebook är en idealiserad och ytlig sådan, där båda könen strävar efter att framstå som populära, framgångsrika och lyckade.

The aim of this study is to understand the collaboration at a child investigation and the actions that may be encountered as a result of the investigation, based on the Social Secretaries experiences of collaboration with other agencies such as schools, police, health visitor and child psychiatry. In the study, eight social workers from different municipalities was interviewed at a total of six occasions. One of the occasions was a group interview with three social workers at the same time. Through the interviews, it appears that the collaboration has an important role in social work and the necessity is something that manifests itself in the social secretaries stories but also in the earlier research done in this area. The results show that social workers extensively want to interact but that the purpose of interaction varies depending on the nature of the matter.

Our purpose with this study was to look at the connection between social capital and integration. Particularly if meetings between people from different cultures can increase social capital and in that way affect integration. We start by identifying the social integration perspective we are going to use through out the study and then we introduce social capital theory as a way of narrowing down the field even more. The study was done through six semi structured interviews. We interviewed three women that was established in the Swedish society and three women that had immigration background.
