The aim of the study was to examine how social workers investigate and assess addiction cases whether gender matters or not. The following questions were asked in the study; ? Does the gender of the client influence whether a case is opened after the first meeting at the Addiction Unit? ? Do social workers consider there is a difference in handling an addiction treatment investigation when the client is a man or a woman? ? Do divergences exist in the assessment and the final decision process when the case concerns a man or a woman? The study is based on the qualitative method. The material is gathered from semi-structured interviews with social workers. Their job tasks include assessment and evaluation of addiction cases.

This study is about conception in the evaluation of financial assistance within the social services. The aim of this study is to describe and understand how social workers reason about variation, conception and local norms and its significance in the evaluation process. To reach this purpose we have conducted semi-structured interviews with eight social workers in which different themes were discussed and reasoned about. In order to understand and analyze our results we have studied/used the knowledge about tacit knowledge and street-level bureaucracy. Our results showed, as previous research states, that social workers do have conceptions about clients.

The purpose of this study was to examine interpersonal problems and its relationship to the working alliance in psychotherapy. To examine this, data was used from Umeå and Lund University psychology practice client database, which clients responded to by using the self-assessment scales Inventory of Interpersonal Problems Circumplex Scales and the Working Alliance Inventory. The sample consisted of 201 participants that answered the questionnaires both before and after psychotherapy. A second sample consisted of 93 clients who specifically sought help for interpersonal problems. Results showed that the level of interpersonal problems before and after psychotherapy changes.

The purpose of this study was to understand school counselors´ and teachers´ perspectives on the prevention of bullying in relation to social capital. The study was based on a qualitative process with semi-structured interviews from three teachers and three school counselors from three different schools. The main question was to find out teachers and school counselors perspectives of bullying in relation to social capital. The analysis was based on a theory that focuses on social capital, where trust and confidence as well as universal and selective interventions are important. Today, bullying is considered a serious and significant problem in school.

In August 2007 we went to New Zealand for a placement at Child Youth and Family Services. There our interest in Family Group Conferences (FGC) took off. FGC is not near as common in Sweden as in New Zealand. Therefore the purpose of this study was to examine how the Social Services in Helsingborg and Höör in Sweden and Belfast in Northern Ireland work with FGC. We had the privilege to go to Belfast in Northern Ireland as part of the project Insight Europe.

Denna kvalitativa är utförd utifrån en hermeneutisk ansats med syftet att skapa en förståelse för hur individer som är diagnostiserade med ADHD erfar, definierar samt förhåller sig till sin problematik.Empirin består av fem semistrukturerade intervjuer med vuxna människor som alla erhållit diagnosen ADHD. Intervjumaterialet har analyserats med utgångspunkt i anpassningsteorin enligt Merton, kunskapssociologin enligt Berger och Luckmann samt KASAM genom Aron Antonovsky. Intervjuerna visar att respondenterna upplever sig leva i ett strukturellt utanförskap med begränsade möjligheter att förändra sin situation. Att leva i ett stress-samhälle anses heller inte vara gynnsamt för de individer med ADHD-relaterade svårigheter, svårigheter som tangerar gränsen till att kunna betraktas i termer av stressrespons. Vad som dominerar utsagorna är dess tydliga referens till den psykiatriska förklaringsmodellens dominans vilken inverkar menligt på de diagnostiserades realisering av målbilder till förmån för en tämligen tydlig fokusering på begränsningar.Sammantaget utgör ADHD med stor sannolikhet exempel på en multifaktoriell problematik med tät koppling till externa, strukturella faktorer.

The aim with this study was to analyze and understand how begging is constructed as a social problem in Sweden between September of 2010 and the end of February in 2014 in debate articles in Dagens Nyheter. To do this I have chosen to use a social problems theory and critical discourse analysis to highlight some aspects in the process of defining the social problem. The study's main finding is that the construction of beggars and begging appears to be in a relatively extensive redefinition in the current situation. It is shown by, for example, a shift in focus in the discourse. For this reason, it is relevant for social work to examine how the construction progresses..

The purpose of the essay is to examine Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual person?s experiences of the Social Services treatment. Our question is: How do Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual person?s experience the treatment in a relief seeking situation at Social Services? We have a social constructive point of view. Our theoretical foundation is heteronormativity, heterosexism, homophobia, coming out/disclosure, intersectionality, master suppression techniques and we discuss Social Services as a system.

The purpose of this essay was to examine municipal guidelines regarding the administration of the social assistance, collected from 18 municipalities in the Stockholm-area to achieve a greater understanding on how they were constructed in respect to the legislation and how the language mediated their contents. The legal aspects of the social assistance was studied through a jurisprudential method in which the legislative history, texts of laws and case laws were examined. The empirical aspect of this essay was studied through a hermeneutical method and analyzed through theories of social constructionism and legal pluralism. The results from the jurisprudential study were also used to understand how the municipal guidelines were constructed in relation to the law. The results of this essay corresponded well with previous studies in this field where considerable divergences in the approval of social assistance have been established.

Denna uppsats sträcker sig utanför akademin och frågar sig hur en publik kan uppfatta föreställningen La dolce vita. Jag menar att dragshowgruppen After Dark har potential att destabilisera synen på kön, genus och sexualitet som fasta binära kategorier, och undersöker detta i en receptionsstudie. I relation till Judith Butlers performativitetsteori görs med hjälp av deltagande observation och intervjuer med personer som sett showen en jämförelse av hur tolkningarna kan skilja sig åt beroende på tillgång till dessa teoretiska verktyg. Skillnaden visar sig vara stor, informanterna ser främst en problematisering av sexualitet medan det sett utifrån Butler är kön och genus som fokuseras. En annan faktor som är betydande för tolkningen är feministiska utgångspunkter.

SammanfattningI denna studie presenteras tidigare forskning som beskriver datorspelande som fenomen. Bland annat beskriver tidigare forskning hur utspritt datorspelande är, vem som spelar samt vilka konsekvenser det kan få. Dessutom framkommer olika riskfaktorer för datorspelsberoende. Detta kan vara bland annat kön, social utsatthet och psykisk hälsa. Det är också utifrån den tidigare forskningen som en kunskapslucka identifierades.

Vi startade vårt examensarbete efter en föreläsning på Malmö Högskola, Hälsa & Samhälle (2010-01-22), rörande genusfrågor kopplat till socialt arbete. Här väcktes vårt intresse för användningen av manliga förebilder som en insats till pojkar med olika problematik. Vi ville undersöka vilka föreställningar socialarbetare har om begreppet manliga förebilder, kopplat till socialt arbete med ungdomar, och detta blev således även vår frågeställning. Vår avsikt har alltså varit att söka en förståelse för begreppet, vilka egenskaper är eftersträvande hos den ?goda manliga förebilden?.
