The power of news media to shape public opinion has been widely researched and acknowledged. In the globalized world of today, media representations of different ethnic groups therefore contribute to social segregation or desegregation. This thesis investigates how Spanish news media frame Spain?s most numerous minority of non-European ethnicity: the Moroccans. Using a quantitative content analysis, we have analysed about 200 news articles in the two most read Spanish online newspapers, El País and El Mundo, published during a two-year period, 2010-2012.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how public libraries in Norrbotten provide multilingual media and how the commitment is legitimized. In January 2014 there was a change to the guidelines for the International Library?s service for providing multilingual media. The responsibility for the provision of this service was also changed. The result shows there has been different ways of implementing the guidelines in practice; this has led to inequalities in the local library service.We have assembled data through qualitative interviews with five different public libraries in the north of Sweden.

Kandidatarbetet undersöker och diskuterar frågeställningen "Vilket socialt ansvar har jag som grafisk formgivare i skapandet av skönhetsidealen?". Kandidatarbetet fokuserar på att skapa en diskussion kring ämnet skönhetsideal, hur dessa påverkar unga kvinnor samt vilka möjligheter det finns för att bryta samhällsnormer och göra en förändring, en större skillnad. Utifrån mitt forskringsresultatet kring skönhetshistorian och dess utveckling under åren, har jag skapat en produktion i form av modeillustrationer. Jag tycker inte att samhället inser hur kraftfullt påverkade vi har blivit av media och modebranschen under de senaste åren.

The present research examined both automatic and controlled processes in newpapers ability of priming racial stereotypes via the portrayals of people of foreign extraction. The automatic process were examined through articles which; a) involved an illegal act or b) the act was not illegal but morally questionable. Swedish-born subject?s explicit opinions against foreign people were also measured through ?The Modern Racial Prejudice Scale?. In the experiment participants read four different articles which included; Swedish person/noncrime, foreign person/noncrime, Swedish person/crime and foreign person/crime.

Den ökade förekomsten av etisk rapportering kan ses som en följd av samhällets ökade fokus på en hållbar utveckling. Det finns olika teorier om motiven bakom redovisning av etisk information, däribland 4N-typologin samt legitimitets- och intressentteorin. Dessa angreppssätt bygger på förekomsten av kommunikation mellan företaget och dess omvärld. Hur detta i realiteten sker behandlas av ytterligare en teori på området, Media Agenda Setting Theory. Våra företags sociala rapportering förefaller kunna förklaras med olika motiv ur 4N-typologin.

This paper contains a study where we apply cross media and storytelling into the design process of a practical commercial campaign. The purpose is to learn more and deeper by using cross media and the ideal of storytelling practical. We applied a qualitative method for research of the project to provide a high-quality empirical work. The result shows that by using well-structured story early in the design process you will easily succeed with your cross media design..

This bachelor thesis examines and discusses the question: "How can graphics for newscasts be adapted to follow technological developments in various media and increase its informative quality?" The work was performed on Swedish Television's own graphic department, SVT design in order to examine how news graphics need to be developed to follow the technological changes in media. The production resulted in a news graphics concept divided into three parts. Two of the sections show examples of how graphics can be adapted according to platform and the third section shows examples of news graphics that are produced at SVT Design by me. This essay focuses on the construction of so called "computer game addiction" or "computer game abuse" in the Swedish press during 2000-2006. During this period computer game addiction went from an obscure phenomenon to a legit reason for the involuntary commitment of a fourteen-year-old.The study's theory is based on several social constructionist ideas. Kitsuse and Spector's theories about constructing social problems as claims-making activities are used for understanding the actions of the individual and groups involved. Hewitt and Hall's article about quasi-theory is used to explain the construction of explainations for the new social phenomenon. Blumer's five-stage model is used for categorizing the construction of the new social problem.

The gas turbines in the Swedish secondary reserve are reaching the end of their technical lifetime, hence alternative solutions need to be considered. One of the solutions thought to have the greatest potential is the use of so called consumptionreduction. By entering contracts with large consumers, agreements are made to reduce consumption in the event of major disturbances in the power system and thus being used as a secondary reserve. This thesis investigates the feasibility of consumption reduction as part of the secondary reserve. This has been achieved by developing a requirement specification for the disturbance reserve and by studying the technical and economic potential for consumption reduction among a range of consumers.The technical potential for consumption reduction that fulfils the requirements for participating in the secondary reserve are on average 750 MW in SE 3 and 98 MW in SE 4.

The purpose of this essay was to investigate affecting factors concerning social workers in social services assessments with cases of abuse. We wanted to see if social workers in social services tend to make different assessments of the need of substance abusers care. Our survey was carried out as a vignettesurvey with complementary interviews as means to deepen the outcome results.Our survey showed that the included social workers in social services in some senses make different assessments when it comes to choice of effort put in for the client. We shed light on different factors and circumstances, which could bear meaning for the social workers in social services assessments. Examples of factors were the social workers in social services age, gender, working experience and attitude towards substance abusers..

Efter mycket rapportering i media och omnämning i polisens rapport gällande områden där kriminella nätverk styr, fanns ett intresse att analysera och förklara problembilden i Koppargården. Studien har genom statistik och semi-strukturerade intervjuer undersökt nyckelaktörers beskrivningar av problembilder i dagens Koppargården. Resultaten har analyserats utifrån teorin om social desorganisation. Studiens resultat visar att flertalet av de beskrivna problembilderna i dagens Koppargården kan kopplas till teorin om social desorganisations. Låg socioekonomisk status, heterogen befolkningssammansättning, hög befolkningsomflyttning är faktorer som stämmer in på Koppargården.

Journalists and communication managers are becoming more professional and to reach out to its stakeholders in society today, organizations must work strategically with communication, to enter the news. Many make use of press releases to provide journalists with information, hoping to influence what is published on the news. With a background in the medial change that occurs is the purpose of this study to elucidate and problematize which role press releases has for newsrooms and for organizations today and in the future. A qualitative interview study has been used, and communication managers from three organizations and journalists from three newsrooms has been interviewed. The study has been combined with a quantitative pilot study of selected press releases and articles from the selected organizations.

Marknadsaktiviteter vid produktlansering är ett samarbete med Haglöfs Scandinavia AB. Våren 2010 utfördes ett samarbetade med Haglöfs då ett underlag för utökat produktsortiment inom konfektion togs fram. På uppdrag av Haglöfs ska ett förslag framställas på hur en lansering ska kunna se ut om juniorkollektionen introduceras på den svenska marknaden. Hur fungerar det med produktlanseringens strategiska och taktiska lanseringsbeslut och vilka marknadsföringskanaler är lämpliga vid en produktlansering inom outdoorbranschen.Rapporten behandlar hur dagens företag inom outdoorbranschen i Sverige fullgör sina marknadsaktiviteter vid en produktlansering. Strategiska och taktiska lanseringsbeslut illustreras samt utvalda marknadsföringskanaler skildras.En lanseringsstrategi beskriver de marknadsföringsbeslut som är nödvändiga för att presentera en ny produkt till respektive målgrupp och börja generera en inkomst i form av försäljning av den nya produkten.

Föreliggande studie syftar till att öka förståelsen för sociala mediers (Facebook, Twitter, bloggar, forum) roll bland ungdomar i vård och behandling genom intervjuer med yrkesverksamma personer som arbetar på HVB-hem (hem för vård eller boende). Vidare är syftet att undersöka om de sociala mediernas användning inverkar på arbetssituationen och arbetsmetoder bland de yrkesverksamma. Undersökningen byggde på en kvalitativ forskningsansats med en tematisk analysmetod. Resultatet bygger på semistrukturerade intervjuer med fem informanter vars yrkesprofession är behandlingsassistent. I resultaten framkom att informanterna upplevde sociala medier som en frizon som skapar både problem men också en känsla av gemenskap.

Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka medias påverkan på tio gymnasisters uppfattning om svininfluensan. De frågor som jag har valt att använda mig för att uppnå syftet är hur media kan påverka elevernas synsätt på svininfluensan och på vilka sätt kan eleverna uppfatta svininfluensan. För att kunna förstå hur media påverkar sin publik och hur publiken uppfattar en händelse har jag använt mig av teorin om sociala representationer. Media är en betydande faktor för skapandet av sociala representationer hos individen när det gäller hur en individ ska ta ställning till en händelse. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer har jag undersökt hur tio gymnasieelever uppfattar svininfluensan.
