The focus of this thesis is on social workers? knowledge in assessing and making decisions in child welfare cases. The primary aim is to identify what skills or knowledge social workers find most useful within child welfare agencies in Swedish municipalities. Six different types of knowledge, social policy and the approach of child welfare cases are perspectives considered in the analysis. The interviews with social workers were held in three agencies in southern Sweden, in 2014.

Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to describe the social media usage of five European official national tourism organizations (NTO). The essay proceeds to discuss and evaluate the findings, whilst reflecting on the advantages of social media usage from the point of view of an official national tourism organization.Method: The authors used three different methods of research: one structured observation to study the national tourism organizations? everyday work in social media, one field stimulation to study if and how different NTO respond if a prospective visitor makes them a direct question via social media and finally an email interview to gain insight into NTO?s underlying strategies and policies about social media usage.Theoretical framework: The theories that have been used in this paper include the Uses and gratifications model, theories of one-way and multi-way communication, theories of social media and relationship marketing.Conclusion: By making use of social media the company releases some of its control to the customers as the latter can express their opinions freely in this type of media. One of the advantages of social media is that the platform favors dialogue and feedback. Social media can be used for traditional one-way communication, but works best as a supplement to the regular marketing activities, allowing the activities on social media platforms to focus on branding and building long-term customer relationships.

Bakgrund och problem: Detaljhandeln är en konkurrensutsatt marknad. Det blir allt vanligare med belöningssystem inom organisationer för att motivera sin personal för att undvika yttre påtryckningar. En problematik ligger i vad som motiverar personal till bättre prestationer i förhållande till kulturella olikheter, och hur belöningssystem på bästa sätt skall anpassas efter den kulturella kontext den avser att användas i. Därför kommer kulturell- och arbetsrelaterad motivation studeras både inom Sverige och USA.Syfte: Syftet med aktuell studie är att få ökad kunskap om belöningssystem, att undersöka om det finns skillnader mellan amerikansk och svensk personal inom motivationsfaktorer, samt att undersöka om det finns skillnader mellan amerikansk och svensk personal i upplevelsen av arbetsplats i relation till belöningssystem.Metod: Studien är av kvantitativ utformning och datainsamlingen genomfördes med en redan framtagen enkät (QPS nordic). Urvalet bestod av totalt 103 personer, varav 53 av dessa var svensk personal och 50 var amerikansk personal.

Vårt syfte med denna studie var att ta reda på några iranska flyktingars tankar kring hur deras identitet har påverkats av migrationsprocessen. De frågeställningar vi haft som fått genomsyra hela arbetet är: Hur har migrationsprocessen påverkat flyktingens identitet? Hur identifierar sig flyktingen idag? Vilka personer, grupper och sammanhang är viktiga för flyktingen? Vilken betydelse har dessa för formandet av identiteten?Metoden vi har använt oss av är kvalitativ, och vi har genomfört tre intervjuer med män och en med en kvinna. Alla fyra informanter flydde till Sverige för drygt 20 år sen, då de var strax under, eller strax över tonåren. Vi har arbetat utifrån abduktiv metod, det vill säga att vi har varvat teori med empiri.

This thesis studies public service social workers' opinions regarding their ability to act with moral courage as loyalty conflicts occur. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the social workers' experiences of their possibilities to stand up for what they believe in. We made qualitative interviews with five social workers in Stockholm. In an effort to pinpoint their experiences we asked them questions about what they want but cannot do and what is stop-ping them, what they do not want to do and why, aswell as what the possible solutions would be as loyalty conflicts occur. We were able to identify five different opinions on the organisa-tional cultures and how the employees' experience the extent of their actions.

This is a study with a qualitative approach and a social psychological perspective. Our purpose is to describe and analyze authority officials descriptions of individuals with a social disability and their perception of how the interaction in the encounter with its implementation. We are interested in how they experience their power as authority representatives. The following issues are highlighted.? How do people in authority describe individuals with a social disability?? What is the authority officials view on the interaction in meetings with individuals with a social disability?? How do authority officials experiencing his or her position of power in relation to the meeting?Our results are based on semi-structured interviews with five persons in authority, which is active in Insurance and Employment Service in Örebro County.

There is a known link between relative deprivation and street crime among market liberal countries. Although some research has been done with cross-national data, there is none to suggest that the observed link is as valid in a country well known for its extended welfare and generous social expenditure like Sweden. The following study uses longitudinal data to see if this recognized link between relative deprivation and street crime also stands in a country with almost a century long tradition of striving for social-, economic- and cultural equality. Even though Sweden, over the last decade, has been subjected to a series of deregulations due to policy changes at national level, and with a following rise in inequality, it is still considered to be one of the most equal countries in the west. It is therefore not unlikely that the high degree of social security will reduce the negative impact of relative deprivation on social relations among its citizens, perhaps enough so that the correlation will be significantly weakened.

Trenden att hjälpa andra ökar i takt med att samhället blir mer individualiserat. Brottsofferjouren är en förening som bygger på frivilliga krafter och engagemang och huvudsyftet med verksamheten är att fungera som medmänniskor samt informatörer när det gäller rättsprocessen och försäkringsfrågor. Syftet med studien var att lyfta fram centrala motiv till det ideella arbetet och även ge en inblick i dessa människors uppdrag inom brottsofferjouren. Detta skapar en förståelse och fördjupning i vad som motiverar dessa människor att ge av sin tid och sitt engagemang. Metoden för studien var induktiv tematisk analys och åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer med 6 pensionärer och 2 högskolestuderande låg till grund för analysen.

This is a qualitative study based on five semi-structured interviews in Sweden. The aim of the study is to explore what experiences non-monogamous people have of dating and the social support surrounding them. The study investigates what effects norms and normative structures have on non-monogamous dating. This is done through a thematic analysis with queer theory, and the underlying theoretical concepts performativity, heteronormativity, mononormativity, relationship escalator and queer temporalities. To help analyze the social support, we have used Bourdieu's (1986) theory about social capital.

Detta är en kvalitativ studie vars syfte är att genom intervjuer med tidigare kriminella vuxna undersöka deras upplevelser av vilken påverkan anstaltsvistelser och ett tidigare kriminellt leverne har gällande socialt umgänge och identitet.Vi utförde intervjuer med fyra individer med nu ordnad tillvaro. Frågorna ställdes utifrån en semistrukturerad intervjuguide som baserades på uppsatsens syfte, tidigare forskning, och teori.Även om anstaltsvistelserna upplevts påtvingade och konstlade har respondenterna i varierande grad kunnat påverka sin tillvaro och det sociala umgänget. Det har funnits ett stort avståndstagande mellan intagna och anstaltspersonal. Vid frigivning har respondenterna upplevt ångest och vissa har fått anpassningssvårigheter till ett liv i frihet. Självbilden har utvecklats genom Social interaktion med nära anhöriga.

The purpose of the thesis Masculinities ? Gender and its Impact on the Social conditions of individuals is to perform a critical study of how gendered norms influence the social conditions of individuals. This has been done by a problematization and the attempt to answer the question of how the hegemonical masculinity can be analyzed as a discourse, and how the structural aspects of this discourse inflict on the social conditions of masculinities.The question was divided into the analytical themes: the boarders of the discourse, the institutionalization of the discourse, the actuation of the discourse and the agents of the discourse. The theoretical frame is constituted by the theory of discourse by Michel Foucault, the theory of the hegemonical masculinity by R.W. Connell and a subversive identity theory by Judith Butler.

The aim of this study was to understand how the professional in social work handles the media scrutiny. When the media writes about social services there is seldom anything positive written about it, many social services organizations are instead heavily criticized and scrutinized by the media. When social services organizations are scrutinized by the media there is a crisis at work, and therefore should be handled as a crisis. Therefore, we describe how a crisis management might look like in an organization. The study is qualitative therefore we have interviewed four municipalities in Sweden that have been exposed by the media at a national level.

During the study's first stage we noticed that the Swedish term ? utanförskap? was constructed for political purposes, the term?s ambiguity what was first raised our interest. Therefore the aims of this study was to examine how social workers at the social welfare office and the labor market related project Framtid Kronoberg  as well as politicians within the administration of Arbete & Välfärd (Work & Welfare) relates to utanförskap as a social phenomenon. The study?s second aim was to examine how the aforementioned persons consider utanförskap to be counteracted among young adults.

Stadsmissionen i Stockholm initierade denna studie då personalen uppmärksammat en växande grupp unga bostadslösa föräldrar. Sex unga bostadslösa mammors upplevelse av sitt föräldraskap, relation till sitt barn samt egen psykisk hälsa och stress undersöktes genom halvstrukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer samt med enkätinstrumenten CES-D och SPSQ. Intervjumaterialet bearbetades med hjälp av tematisk analys. Åtta teman framkom: Social situation, Egen individuation, De egna föräldrarna, Nätverk, Syn på barnet, Konfliktfyllda eller emotionellt påfrestande situationer mellan mamma och barn, Interaktion med barnet och Coping. Mammorna upplevde att bostadssituationen påverkade föräldraskapet negativt.

This investigation aimed to shed light on the terms of the dispensing and the retaining of municipal social benefits granted by Swedish social services, this in regard of a less visible societal subgroup; citizens who cannot attain or retain housing of their own.Through qualitative interviews with six municipal social workers in Skåne, the plight of these citizens is revealed from a policy-making perspective in respect of views on discretion and individual appreciation. How may the applicant impact the application process and how does social subletting operate as a service effort?Further analysis of the accounts of informants? views on change and the reasons for change, sketched an image of a society where public acceptance and tolerance are crucial factors for citizens hoping to achieve a homestead through means of municipal intervention.In conclusion, flexible attitudes towards job description are of major import to the possibility of offering client support in under-staffed municipal environs. Furthermore, reflexive social workers allying with the applicant throughout the process, from application to intervention are decisive for efficacious, long-term social work..
