The purpose of the thesis Masculinities ? Gender and its Impact on the Social conditions of individuals is to perform a critical study of how gendered norms influence the social conditions of individuals. This has been done by a problematization and the attempt to answer the question of how the hegemonical masculinity can be analyzed as a discourse, and how the structural aspects of this discourse inflict on the social conditions of masculinities.The question was divided into the analytical themes: the boarders of the discourse, the institutionalization of the discourse, the actuation of the discourse and the agents of the discourse. The theoretical frame is constituted by the theory of discourse by Michel Foucault, the theory of the hegemonical masculinity by R.W. Connell and a subversive identity theory by Judith Butler.

SammanfattningDenna uppsats handlar om den sociala bakgrundens betydelse för högskolestudier. Uppsatsen bygger på olika teorier som finns inom klassteorin bland annat av Marx, Weber, Bourdieu. Samt har även annan litteratur och teorier används inför fallstudien. Den socioekonomiska indelningen är viktig att studera för att komma ifrån klassindelningen. Jag har både använt mig av svenska socioekonomisk indelning från SCB och Goldthorpes klasschema.Syftet med uppsatsen är att förstå hur studenter värderar högskolestudier i förhållande till samhällsklass, detta med tyngdpunkten på den sociala bakgrundens betydelse.

The aim of this study was to understand how the professional in social work handles the media scrutiny. When the media writes about social services there is seldom anything positive written about it, many social services organizations are instead heavily criticized and scrutinized by the media. When social services organizations are scrutinized by the media there is a crisis at work, and therefore should be handled as a crisis. Therefore, we describe how a crisis management might look like in an organization. The study is qualitative therefore we have interviewed four municipalities in Sweden that have been exposed by the media at a national level.

During the study's first stage we noticed that the Swedish term ? utanförskap? was constructed for political purposes, the term?s ambiguity what was first raised our interest. Therefore the aims of this study was to examine how social workers at the social welfare office and the labor market related project Framtid Kronoberg  as well as politicians within the administration of Arbete & Välfärd (Work & Welfare) relates to utanförskap as a social phenomenon. The study?s second aim was to examine how the aforementioned persons consider utanförskap to be counteracted among young adults.

This investigation aimed to shed light on the terms of the dispensing and the retaining of municipal social benefits granted by Swedish social services, this in regard of a less visible societal subgroup; citizens who cannot attain or retain housing of their own.Through qualitative interviews with six municipal social workers in Skåne, the plight of these citizens is revealed from a policy-making perspective in respect of views on discretion and individual appreciation. The purpose of this study has been to analyze how managers within the elderly care who operate according to the Social Services Act work to support the assistant nurses with the social documentation. In order to achieve my purpose and to be able to answer the research questions, a qualitative approach was selected. My empirical material consists of seven interviews, four with assistant nurses and three with managers. Anthony Giddens? structuration theory in Månsson, (2003 s. 422) has been my theoretical starting-point and the concepts of practical and discursive consciousness have been used in the analysis.

An increased use of social media has enabled a new arena for HR functions and the work with HR issues. Proponents are critical of this, as it can lead to ethical and legal dilemmas. So far the research on this area is limited. On this basis I found it interesting to study how social media is used in connection with the recruitment process. Those who will benefit from this study are primarily those dealing with recruitment, but also others working with HR issues.

This report tries to discuss the concept of social sustainability; what it means and how residential development can be made more socially sustainable. This is done by interviewing several and various representatives in JM AB, the municipality of Uppsala and residents of Åriket to explore how JM AB as a housing developer and the municipality are working with issues regarding social sustainability and what the residents in one of the new housing projects themselves think of these issues. The result of these interviews will be compared and analyzed with the prospect of finding common variables and hopefully ways of improvement.This will result in our own recommendations of areas of improvement either by broad initiatives or specific actions to increase the social sustainability. Areas such as meeting places, sustainable functions and joint efforts between different parties. During the work on the report we come in contact with several other areas of interest that we are not able to process ourselves and therefore recommend them for future studies..

Denna uppsats är en intervjustudie med religiöst praktiserande kristna och muslimska kvinnor där jag har ämnat undersöka relationen mellan en feministisk ansats och religiös övertygelse. Syftet med uppsatsen är att utreda om en feministisk strävan kan vara förenligt med en religiös praktik och i vilken utsträckning dessa olika förhållningssätt också har gemensamma nämnare. Jag diskuterar vidare om och hur en hegemonisk, feministisk vetenskapssyn har kommit att exkludera andra typer av kamp för kvinnors rättigheter och emancipation.Jag menar att denna uppsats framförallt är intressant i samhällen där olika grupper påverkar och samspelar med varandra i vardagen så väl som i politiska diskussioner. För en ökad förståelse av varandras utgångspunkter och övertygelser måste vi också kunna diskutera och respektera varandra övertygelser, trots att vi inte alltid delar dessa uppfattningar. För en feministisk teori ser jag det som högst relevant att förmedla andra bilder av kvinnor än de stereotypa representationer som annars kan vara resultatet av alltför stort fokus på en ensidig målgrupp..

The purpose of this essay was to study how school welfare officers cooperate with other school staff, regarding children in vulnerable positions, and how the school staff apply their obligation to report to the social services if they have concerns regarding children at risk, according to the law of social service, SoL.We have especially focused on questions concerning cooperation, both between the school staff, and between the school and the social services. We also wanted to identify some of the restraining factors and dilemmas that could come up during the process of reporting children at risk to the social services. The study was based on qualitative interviews with ten school welfare officers from the same municipality.Our conclusions of our study are that there exists a well-developed cooperation between several organizational levels, including the school welfare officers, other professions in the schools and the social services. There were though opinions among the school welfare officers that they wanted to increase their professional claims in relation to the school nurse, due to their larger competence in talking to children. Regarding the formal responsibility to report to the social services, a majority of the school welfare officers felt they had access to the support they needed from both their principal and the students healthcare-team, and that they were not left alone in the process..

Uppsatsens frågeställning är: På vilket sätt kan demokratisering fungera som konfliktlösningsmekanism efter folkmordet i Rwanda?Folkmordet i Rwanda kan ses i ljuset av att det var ett inbördeskrig med etniska grunder. För att lösa konflikter av denna typ driver vi tesen att demokratisering är den konfliktlösningsmekanism som är mest lämpad på sikt. Vi applicerar teorier från konfliktlösning och demokratisering, och kombinerar dessa för att nå svar på vår frågeställning. Consociationalteorin är vår huvudsakliga teori, då den är utvecklad för etniskt splittrade samhällen.

The purpose of this study was to examine the resources and barriers that social workers have incorporating the Social Service Act states during meetings with clients, using and developing the client's skills and knowledge, develop their own resources and to promote the use of self-determination. A qualitative study was done by interviewing six social workers working within the in social service?s department for family and individual welfare. Social workers were encouraged to describe and discuss the key aspects of cases that developed positively respectively negatively. Motivation theory, evidence-based practice, empowerment, and expert-expert relationship are the theories and concepts that we used to analyze the material.The study's main conclusion is that the most important prerequisite for positive development of cases is that the social worker emphasizes and stimulates the client's own resources during meetings.

Det är av vikt att professioner har en teoretisk grund att luta sig mot och att teorin införlivas i praktiken. Inom arbetsterapin försvåras detta av att professionen har brottats med paradigmskiften, vilket i sin tur har bidragit till en stor mängd av tyst kunskap inom yrket. Syftet med denna studie var att beskriva hur arbetsterapeuter i den kliniska verksamheten resonerar kring användandet av arbetsterapeutisk teori, främst vid användandet av processer och modeller. Sju arbetsterapeuter intervjuades i denna kvalitativa studie. De delgav sina tankar och resonemang angående användandet av arbetsterapeutisk teori i arbetet.

Syftet med denna studie var att belysa vilka samtal chefer upplever som svåra att hålla med sina medarbetare och vad i dessa samtal som uppfattas som svårt. I studien undersöktes även på vilket sätt erfarenheter kan ha en påverkan på det svåra samtalet.Studien har undersökt forskningsområdet utifrån en kvalitativ approach och utifrån en fenomenologisk ansats har tio chefer intervjuats utifrån en semistrukturerad intervjuguide om hur de upplever svåra samtal i sin yrkesroll. Resultatet har analyserats utifrån socialpsykologins teori social kognition och Carl Hovlands kommunikationsmodell. Utifrån de fyra huvudteman som framkom i analysen visade resultatet på att chefer upplever att samtal som rör medarbetarnas hälsa och välmående är de samtal som upplevs som svåra då cheferna har en nära relation med sina medarbetare. Vidare visade resultatet att informanterna upplever att deras tidigare erfarenheter har stor påverkan för hur de upplever och genomför svåra samtal med medarbetare..
