The intention of this study was to examine how social workers, leaders within the social work administration and politicians in the social work committee in Helsingborg related to residential treatment of youth and the research showing signs of undesirable results.The main questions were:1. How do social workers, leaders within the social work administration and politicians in the social work committee relate to residential treatment of youth and the research existing about it?2. Which factors do the different categories mean justify the placements?3.

The purpose of this study was to examine social workers working process in social assistance with focus on the child´s perspective. We were interested in learning about the existence of variations in approach and attitude between two municipalities. Question to be answered about what methods and approaches used by social workers to include the child´s perspective in the process of social assistance. Another question to be answered about what the manner in which social workers took into account the child´s perspective when the families apply for social assistance in relation to the operations and requirement. To fulfill the purpose, qualitative methods were used.

This study aims to examine how social workers, in the Swedish social services, perceive and interpret LVU § 3 from a gender perspective. In total eight social workers participated in the study, attending interviews based on a vignette. From a gender perspective we wanted to found out how the social workers define "other socially destructive behaviour" and understand their thoughts about this subject. Moreover, we aimed to see if social workers perceive any differences between boys and girls behaviour. Based on several theories, two gender theories and concepts we have analysed our result from the interviews.

Syftet med denna masteruppsats är att undersöka bostadsområdet Holma, dess förutsättningar och hur det upplevs av befolkning och verksamma i området, samt att analysera och diskutera området utifrån teoretiska resonemang kring plats, urbanitet och grannskap. Vidare är förhoppningen att kunna identifiera resurser för främjandet av gemenskap och hållbar förbättring. Arbetet skrivs utifrån ett socialkonstruktionistiskt perspektiv där en premiss är att människor genom sitt agerande formar mening och att detta agerande i sig påverkas av sociala strukturer. Det empiriska arbetet utgörs av etnografiska studier som analyseras utifrån nämnd teoretisk bas. Studien mynnar ut i resonemang kring vikten av medborgarengagemang och långsiktighet i grundandet av intiativ i grannskapet.

Storbritannien har traditionellt sett bejakat kulturell mångfald som en del av det brittiska samhället, ?en gemenskap av gemenskaper?. De våldsamheter som uppstod mellan asiatiska och vita ungdomar, polis och medlemmar ur högerextrema organisationer i flera nordengelska städer sommaren 2001 markerade emellertid en brytpunkt i den brittiska diskursen om integration och kulturell mångfald, vilken förstärktes ytterligare i de politiska svaren på självmordsbombningarna i Londons tunnelbana 2005. En rad utredningar och rapporter publicerades som signalerade ett tydligt politiskt skifte från fokus på antirasism och skillnadstänkande till en betoning av en gemensam nationell identitet över de kulturella skillnaderna och vikten av att skapa sammanhållning kring en uppsättning ?brittiska värden?.Med hjälp av Laclau och Mouffes teorier identifikation, gruppbildning och makt och Foucauls fokus på problemformulering, analyserar jag hur makt på olika sätt aktiveras i den nya sammanhållningsagendan och problematiserar de processer genom vilka den brittiska regeringen försöker skapa en förstärkt nationell gemenskap.

A social intranet is an information and communication channel that is relatively new. There is still a small amount of research done around social intranet and what it is, and also on what organizations and their members may benefit from using such an intranet. Therefore, this paper was written with the purpose to em-phasize the reasons, possibilities and difficulties of implementing and using a so-cial intranet. With interview as method we took part of the experiences and views on social intranet from a number of organizations that are using or is about to establish a social intranet, and also from companies who deliver the service. Through the use of previous research in organizational communication, we then analysed the responses we received from our respondents.

The objective of this thesis was to study how parents of adult drug addicts experience their contact with the social welfare office, what elements affected the parents degree of satisfaction with the contact with the social welfare office, and whether the contact meant any help for them. Six parents of adult drug addicts were interviewed..

The aim of this study is to better understand the Swedish concept of ?förebyggande socialt arbete?, preventive social work. I have conducted eleven qualitative interviews with different key persons and skaters, together with participant observation. During the process of analyzing the material I have used Randall Collins´ concepts of interaction ritual chains together with Jean Laves and Etienne Wengers concept of situated learning. The answers could be split up in three areas, first those who regard prevention work as building good things for the future.

Undersökningen är riktat mot vårdanställda och reseledare då tidigare undersökning påvisat samband mellan social trötthet och reseledare. Undersökningen är av en kvantitativ metod i form av en enkät. Denna enkät skickades ut till sammanlagt 110 personer i service branschen (vårdanställda och reseledare).

Today, we can see that social navigation is embedded in different kinds of websites, but there is still little support for social navigation in the web browser. Our main concern has been how we construct a tool that fills this hole in the web browser. By letting the theory, the prototype and the focus group serve as input/output to each other we could create a better overview of how the different pieces were intertwined. This has been a crucial mental model for us to obtain since it has helped us to understand how we could realize the theory through our prototype and thereby come to the conclusion of what aspects of the theory that we should put forward to further development. After constructing the prototype we thought that it would support social navigation, but realized after analyzing the discussion of the focus group that we are not there yet.

What Places Adolescents and Adults, Respectively, in Need of Social Assistance? A Qualitative Study of How Social Workers Whom Administrate Financial Assistance for Adolescents and Adults, Respectively, Describe Reasons Behind the Need of Social Assistance Amongst Their ClientsThe purpose of this essay was to study and compare how social workers whom administrate social assistance for adolescents and adults, respectively, describe reasons behind the need of social assistance amongst their clients. This was done due to the use of qualitative interviews with a total of six social workers. Of these six, three administrated social assistance for adolescents while the other three did the same for adults. Prior research of poverty attribution greatly inspired this essay.

I en ständigt föränderlig värld måste företag anpassa sin organisation efter omvärlden. I samma takt förändras ledarskap och kommunikation, vilka är förutsättningar för ett företags framgång och utveckling. Framförallt är dessa ämnen viktiga för företag som är geografiskt spridda. Trots spridda avdelningar måste företaget uppfattas som en helhet, med gemenskap och samma mål. En ledare måste således finna alternativa tillvägagångssätt, för att upplevas som närvarande och få medarbetarna på ?samma bana?.

Denna uppsats syftar till att beskriva motivationen hos några produktionsarbetare inom två ålderskategorier för att kunna spegla eventuella skillnader mellan dessa. Den kvalitativa beskrivningen utgår från frågan om vad som motiverar fem äldre respektive fem yngre produktionsanställda med monotona arbeten vid löpande band. Den teoretiska utgångspunkten baseras på behovsteorier och studier kring industriarbetares inställning till sitt arbete. Resultatet visar att ingen av informanterna uppfyller samtliga kriterier gällande instrumentell inställning, d.v.s. arbetar enbart för ekonomiska intressen.

The purpose of this essay was to examine and compare what attitudes Swedish and Belgian social workers may have towards residential care and foster care for children and young people. To answer the purpose eight qualitative interviews with four Swedish and four Belgian social workers were made. The results were analyzed by theory of organization and professional acting space. The results of the study show that the social workers in both countries preferred foster care, especially for small children, and that the Swedish social workers had a more negative attitude towards residential care than the Belgian social workers. Even though the Belgian social workers preferred foster care, they found themselves forced to choose residential care due to lack of available foster care facilities, something that did not seem to affect the Swedish social workers.

Inom området för medie- och kommunikationsvetenskap studeras Stockholms technoscen utifrån ett medieetnografiskt perspektiv. I studien används kvalitativa intervjuer då målet är att få en förståelse för hur identitetsprocesser skapas hos sex enskilda technoutövare. Personliga erfarenheter ligger till grund för val av ämne då jag själv är en del av technoscenen.          De frågeställningar som besvaras är:Hur formas kollektiv identitet genom stilelement och stilmarkörer inom Stockholms technoscen?Hur kan identitetsprocesserna förstås i relation till den enskilda utövaren?Vilka kommunikativa praktiker existerar inom technoscenen?Sammanfattningsvis har studien lett fram till ett resultat som tyder på att identitet skapas på skilda sätt och framträder olika starkt beroende på den enskilda utövaren inom technoscenen. Studien har också visat varför en individ väljer att bli en del av technoscenen och hur den kan urskiljas från andra subkulturella företeelser.
