AbstractIn the heart of Paris, you will find Sweden?s only cultural center abroad. Since the early 70?s a wealth of cultural activities has been offered, and every year the center receives more than 100,000 visitors. The center is a branch of the Swedish Institute (Si), a public authority which promotes mutual relationships between Sweden and other countries through culture, education, science and business.

National libraries hold large, valuable repositories of often unique materials. How can we ensure that the knowledge is accessible without endangering the materials that hold the knowledge? Digital preservation is meant to solve this problem. With more and more material being accessible digitally, users are expected to do more and more of the finding on their own, instead of being guided by librarians. What kind of knowledge do the librarians have, that cannot be mediated through a system? How is the knowledge of experienced librarians passed on to new librarians? What is the difference between physical and digital materials? I have interviewed senior and junior librarians of Det Kongelige Bibliotek in Copenhagen, Nasjonalbiblioteket in Oslo, the National Library in Helsinki, and Kungliga Biblioteket in Stockholm to learn about their journey to knowledge of their collections.

Detta arbete syftar till att identifiera förbättringsmöjligheter gällande Uppsala Kommuns verksamhet runt Hem för Vård eller Boende (HVB) utifrån ett företagsekonomiskt perspektiv. Marknadsstrukturen och Uppsala Kommuns möjligheter att påverka aktörerna på marknaden har analyserats utifrån Caves Structure, Conduct, Performance paradigm och Håkansson et.al Aktörer ? Resurser ? Aktiviteter modell. Information samlades in genom intervjuer med både köp och säljsidan, Kommun och HVB. Resultatet av undersökningen visade på att ökad kommunikation och samordning mellan aktörerna skulle kunna leda till högre effektivitet på marknaden.

Vårt syfte med detta examensarbete är att utveckla bättre förståelse för vilken bild av svenskhet NSU förmedlar samt problematisera användandet av varumärkesteorier på kulturella och politiska fenomen som länder och nationer. Vid val av tillvägagångssätt har vi utgått ifrån en abduktiv ansats, där vår primära källa har varit en kvalitativ dokumentstudie över offentligt material publicerat av NSU samt material relaterat till detta. Det empiriska materialet har sedan analyserats utifrån kritisk teori genom negationer. Inledningsvis förklaras teorin om Nation branding vilken ger en förståelse för hur varumärkesteorier kan appliceras på nationer. Därefter förklarar vi de två varumärkesidentitetsteorierna Identitetsprisma och Identitetsstruktur, vilka senare i arbetet integreras med varandra.

In this thesis, rare book collections in university libraries are studied. University libraries function primarily as service institutions for students and researchers. Rare book collections may to some extent be seen as a part of this service. Stockholm and Uppsala University Libraries are the focus in this thesis. They participate because of their difference regarding their rare book collections.

I denna uppsats kommer vi att behandla frågan om huruvida Gustav Vasa och Saddam Hussein kan anses vara landsfäder eller tyranner. Det finns mer eller mindre identiska strukturer vad gäller likheter mellan Vasa och Hussein som ledare och person. Likheterna yttrar sig i formen av ledarskap och strävan efter att bilda en stark nation, samt deras ambition att framstå som en stark symbol för makten. Men skillnaden mellan Vasa och Hussein är att det gjordes under olika historiska, sociala och politiska premisser. I Sverige fanns det en stark tro på att förändra Sverige från flera löst sammanhängande landskap till en stark enad nation.

Tycho Hedéns Väg in Uppsala has evolved from being a through fare passage and highwayto the oversized road frame running through the city it is today. At the present time, dueto the relocation of the E4 highway east of Uppsala, Tycho Hedéns road creates a barrierbetween the north eastern area of Uppsala and the remaining parts of the city centre. Theroad is designed to endure heavy traffic and high speed limits, generating a surrounding urbanarea were inhabitants are complied to follow the standards set for a high traffic-accessibleenvironment. Furthermore, the heavy traffic has led to the turning of both urban roadsidesaway from the actual road. The aim of this project and proposal is to show the possibilities ofhow the innate features of Tycho Hedéns road can be used more advantageously to mend thecity area of Uppsala.

The municipality in Uppsala has set up goals for the future work concerning climate-and energy issues. As one way to achieve these goals the municipality started aproject called Uppsala climate protocol. During one of the project meetings anabatement map was presented. The map showed what savings in carbon dioxide andmarginal costs for different actions can be made. Statistics show that 40 % of thepopulation in Uppsala lives in a condominium.

Access for disabled people in the outdoor environment is an important and accurate issue for landscape architects. The demands on public places are increasing and the aim is that everyone should be able to use the environment and be a part of the society. To enable this, landscape architects must put and extra effort to their design. This report shows examples from Uppsala Travel Centre where different ways of travelling meets in one place and many people pass on a daily basis. The area is newly built and should thereby represent modern solutions that enable access for disabled people.

I denna uppsats har författarna studerat hur Landstinget i Uppsala Län styr och kontrollerar Uppsala Närakut. Syftet är att beskriva på vilket sätt detta sker och på vilka grundförutsättningar styrningssättet baseras.Den vetenskapliga teorin, som denna uppsats vilar på, består av de generella teorierna kring definiering av styrning och kontroll som härstammar från Forsell & Ivarsson Westerberg (2007) samt (Kotterman 2006). De mer specifika teorierna berör dels agent- och stewardshipteorierna, presenterade av Eisenhardt (1989), Davis et al. (1997) samt Van Slyke (2007) och dels styrning via incitament och informationsövervakning av Merchant & Van der Stede (2007) respektive (Lambright 2008). Dessa teorier behandlar kontraktsstyrning och hjälper oss att förankra förutsättningen för styrningen med relevant teori.

In these days of globalization, with a higher level of openness and interaction over geographical, cultural and economical borders, the importance of the company?s intangible asset, its brand, is gaining importance as a differentiating factor. Building a strong brand and the emphasis on strategic brand management is something that before was given less attention in firms but today we can see a general increase in awareness and relative emphasis in the strategic work of companies.Countries as brands: Is it possible to consider a nation or a country as a brand the same way you consider a product? Well, looking in to the subject it seems to be a rather complex matter and there are many questions to be asked and answer. Nations around the globe are indeed marketing and positioning themselves for several purposes.

The urban heat island is an area restricted to a city center where the temperatureis higher than its surrounding environment. The greatest temperature difference isfound at night when the weather is calm and the sky is clear of clouds. There are twomajor causes behind this phenomena and the first one is the use of energy forheating of houses. The heat leaks through the walls of the buildings and warms upthe surrounding mass of air. The second one is the use of building material whichstore the suns radiation on daytime and releases the heat during night.

This thesis presents the residential development in the city of Uppsala, targeting theliving conditions of young adults and students. In cooperation with Sweco Architect inUppsala. The purpose of this survey is to reveal difficulties and possibilities for theearly development of the construction process for studio apartments. Theinformation has been obtained through both a literature review and interviews. Theliterature review is based on Swedish regulations and previous studies in the field, andthe interviews were conducted with organisations and people in leading positionswithin Uppsala.

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka det kliniska användandet av melatonin vid sömnsvårigheter hos barn och ungdomar på barnpsykiatriska kliniker i Uppsala län.Metod: En tvärsnittsstudie genomfördes med en webbaserad enkät utformad i Google Forms. Enkäten sändes sedan till urvalsgruppen som var läkare (n=29) på barnpsykiatriska kliniker i Uppsala län.Resultat: Resultatet visar att 13 av 14 läkare förskriver melatonin och även circadin till barn som lider av sömnproblem. De diagnoser som läkemedel vanligen förskrivs för är främst ADHD, autism och depression. Förskrivning av läkemedlen sker till alla åldersgruppen, vanligast var dock från sju år och uppåt.Slutsats: Trots läkemedelsverket tveksamma inställningar till melatonin för behandling av sömnproblem bland barn förskriver 13 av 14 läkare i denna undersökning ut preparatet och anser att det fungerar..

Alliansbildningsbeteende är ett viktigt och intressant ämne inom internationell politik och i internationella relationer.  Enligt den traditionella maktbalansteorin allierar sig stater med andra stater för att balansera mot externa hot. I Steven R. Davids ?omnibalancing-teori? hävdas däremot att statsledare i tredjevärlden allierar sig med stater för att bekämpa interna hot. I föreliggande examensarbete, som är en fallstudie, är ambitionen att visa att turkiska republikens relation med Kurdistanregionen i Irak är ett fall av ?omnibalancering? såtillvida att Turkiet därigenom söker hålla den kurdiska rörelsen på hemmaplan i schack.
