Organisations tend to focus more and more on product and process development to increase their competitiveness. Several major organisations, among them ABB, have developed models aimed to more effectively control and manage product development processes. ABB is using its standardised model ABB Gate Model for this. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze how the introduction of ABB Gate Model has affected the outcome of decisions and also the decision-making in the product development process. The study is limited to elucidate the version of ABB Gate Model handling product development projects.

The discharge from Lake Mälaren is regulated to keep the lake water level within limits set by a water decree. Despite this, in the year 2000 the lake water level rose above the upper limit. Studies conducted at the climate modeling unit Rossby Centre at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) indicate that the inflow to the lake may increase in the future. A flood in the area will, among other things, strike infrastructure and residential districts.The aim of this study was to investigate the water levels of Lake Mälaren in future climates. In addition to this possible future expansion of the lake discharge though the sluice gates in order to keep water levels below limits set by the water decree and to prevent flooding of the shoreline were discussed.

In the dairy production it is necessary to be able to sort cows. Dairy cows are sorted for many different reasons i.e. regrouping into production strings or for treatments i.e. inseminations, pregnancy and health checks, vaccinations or hoof trimmings. One labour saving way of conducting sorting is by using an automatic sort gate.

The reconstruction of a central area in Stockholm named Slussen (The sluice) has frequently been portrayed and debated in media over the last few years, escalating around December 2011 when the major decision regarding Slussen was to be made by the city council. The area serves as a traffic node connecting the areas of Södermalm and Gamla Stan (Old town) together. The last major change of Slussen was completed in 1935, best described as a modernistic traffic and architectural piece of work. It is indisputably an area of importance for the city of Stockholm, its citizens and visitors. How has media reported the development of the New Slussen project?The analysis, and the conclusions drawn from it, will be based upon and performed with a quantitative content analysis and critical discourse analysis.

Today?s climate changes will probably give rise to precipitation in Sweden, which will cause more floods in Swedish rivers. Many of the Swedish rivers are regulated and have lots of hydro-electro power plants. Higher floods in the rivers will give greater water loads on the dams, which mean that a higher discharge through the sluice gates and in the spillway channels is needed. High discharge of water in a spillway channel can create scour of the material in the channel.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att finna samhälleliga och historiska kontexter som sammanbinder Peoples Temple, Heavens Gate och Soltempelorden. Definitioner och beskrivningar av sekter, manipulativa sekter och karismatiska ledare presenteras. Fokus ligger på vilka likheter och skillnader som finns i deras uppbyggnad och tro, hur samhället såg ut när dessa sekter uppstod och om man kan finna några gemensamma nämnare när det gäller självmorden, alternativt morden.Peoples Temple, Heavens Gate och Soltempelorden har alla något gemensamt. De iscensatte tre av historiens största religiösa tragedier genom tiderna. Alla tre sekterna lämnade jordens yta genom att medlemmarna tillsammans med ledarna begick självmord för att komma till en bättre värld.Alla tre sekternas självmord kantades av samhällets motstånd och det finns historiska incidenter som kan ha att göra med grundandet av dessa grupper.

Det här arbetet är en utvärdering om huruvida det finns problem som kan få en prestandavinst då man använder en Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) som hjälpprocessor till en mikroprocessor i jämförelse men att enbart använda en mikro-processor. För att avgöra detta implementerades algoritmen gaussfiltrering dels på en mikroprocessor med språket C och dels för en FPGA med hårdvarubeskrivningsspråket Very-High-Speed Integrated Circuits Hardware Description Language (VHDL). Simuleringar gjordes för dessa två implementationer och resultatet visade att det var möjligt att få en prestandaökning på 25 gånger för denna speciella algoritm..

This thesis was performed at Zetterbergs Industri AB. Zetterbergs is designing, building and mounts body systems for trucks, including dumpers and tippers. The assignment for the thesis was to design a door hinge for a spreader gate. The spreader gate is the top of the two tailgates on a dumper or tipper and opens back and outwards when tipping the cargo. The spreader gate controls the mass flow of the material being tipped.

This Master's Thesis describes the design of a new system where a digital signal processor has been added to an existing imaging system consisting of field programmable gate arrays. The new system will offer a higher degree of flexibility by considerably shortening the design time and make it possible to implement more complex algorithms than the existing ones. The choice of system architecture and a test implementation are discussed. The test implementation consists of a program for the digital signal processor and VHDL code for one of the field programmable gate arrays. The code for the digital signal processor was designed for testing on an evaluation board from Texas Instruments.

A key part in the development and verification of digital systems is simulation. But hardware simulators are expensive, and software simulation is not fast enough for designs with a large number of gates. As today?s digital zesigns constantly grow in size (number of gates), and that trend shows no signs to end, faster simulators handling millions of gates are needed. We investigate how to create a software gate-level simulator able to simulate a high number of gates fast.

Integrerad produktutveckling, IPU, beskriver en produktutvecklingsprocess med parallella och integrerade aktiviteter. Den bygger på produktlivscykelns principer efter vilka den tvärfunktionella projektgruppen sätts ihop. Syftet med detta arbete är att jämföra teorin med den praktiska tillämpningen av IPU, med fokus på projektstruktur, mål och beslut samt kommunikation. Detta genom att intervjua fyra företag, verksamma inom olika branscher och ställa dessa mot de mest förkommande teorierna i litteraturen. Undersökningen visade att företagen använder sig av en projektstruktur som kallas Stage-Gate, vilken var anpassad efter respektive företag.

Syftet med studien var att förstå hur flickor 15-21 år födda med analatresi upplever sin kropp och sexualitet. Studien har en kvalitativ ansats och empirin bygger på åtta semistrukturerade intervjuer. De centrala frågorna i studien är att undersöka om flickors sexualitet och kroppsuppfattning påverkas av att de är födda med analatresi. Studien undersöker också om flickorna uppfattar att föräldrarnas omvårdnad och omhändertagande påverkar deras upplevelse av sin sexualitet och kroppsuppfattning. Slutligen undersöker studien om psykologiskt stöd bör erbjudas under barndomen eller tonåren och i så fall vilken typ av stöd som efterfrågas.

Webbloggens aktualisering i medielandskapet har inspirerat oss till denna uppsats vilken behandlar detta nya fenomen. Främst riktas uppsatsens fokus mot att studera hur webbloggens potential kan användas som komplement till andra kanaler som används för nyhetsförmedling och debatt i det offentliga rummet. Vidare önskar vi finna svaret på om någon demokratisk funktion för webbloggen existerar? Kan webbloggen som kommunikationskanal bidra till att skapa en deliberativ demokrati genom att inbjuda till dialog i offentligheten. Kan den information som publiceras komplettera den traditionella nyhetsförmedlingen?Till grund ligger en kvalitativ studie som bygger på fältstudier på sex bloggande journalister och deras webbloggar.

The aim of this study was to investigate the social behaviour and time budget of breedingbulls kept at VikingGenetics, Falkenberg in Sweden when the staff was off duty. It was ofinterest to see if there was any difference between bulls housed in group pens and bullshoused in individual pens. It was also of interest to investigate if there was any differencein the behaviour between the dairy breeds Swedish Red (SR) and Swedish Holstein (SH).Sixteen bulls were used in this study. Eight bulls kept in individual pens and eight bullskept in group pens were used. The individually housed bulls had a social gate with widerbars where the bulls could but their head and neck through to have social contact with thebulls in its neighbouring pens.
