Close to the city center of Reykjavik lies the combined national- and university library of Iceland. Usually, these two types of institutions are separated. The purpose of this essay is to investigate how the library in fact selects the new digital material to offer the users in Iceland, and if the combined mission creates any problems or conflicts.The investigation examines the planning and the content of the digital library, what user groups are addressed and how the organisation is held together despite the different missions. If cultural context in Iceland makes a difference for what is selected and offered to the users is also discussed.Six informants in strategic library positions dealing with the digital national- or university library, were interviewed. The answers have been analysed in light of the library&information literature on building and maintaining digital library collections and organizational and marketing theory.The main result of the study is that the informants do not see a conflict between the missions of the organisation, although traces of a struggle were found in some areas.

During the last couple of years the focus for many businesses have moved from just being price oriented to include such factors as quality, flexibility, service, delivery precision and environmentally friendliness. The shift in viewpoint arises from the increasingly competition on the market and the hard economic atmosphere. It has become more important to differentiate the company and its products to be able to increase market share. The purpose with this master?s thesis was to get a better understanding on how companies (customer to DHL) are reasoning and prioritizing when choosing Swedish carriers.

Today, equine breeding is based on performance and conformation, resulting in a vast variation in fertility among different horses, with noticeable economic losses as a consequence. The horse breeding industry is therefore in need of methods that diagnose the spermatozoa concerning their quality and provide the best sperm for AI. The commonly used selection methods for sperm today are: centrifugation, where extender is added, the sample is centrifuged and then resuspended; swim-up self-migration; adherence separation; and density gradient centrifugation. However, none of these methods are in used routinely in practice before inseminating mares with fresh or cooled semen. The aim of this study was to evaluate a new selection method, Single Layer Centrifugation (SLC), and its effect on sperm viability. The viability was analyzed with regard to membrane integrity and membrane stability of ejaculated spermatozoa.

Syftet med litteraturstudien var att beskriva sjuksköterskans upplevelser av att arbeta inom palliativ vård utifrån de fyra hörnstenarna samt beskriva vilka copingstrategier sjuksköterskan använder i den palliativa vården.Vidare var syftet att granska litteraturstudiens ingående artiklars kvalité med avseende på den metodologiska aspekten urval. Litteraturstudien var av en deskriptiv design som sammanställts av 13 kvalitativa artiklar sökta i databaserna PubMed och Cinahl samt genom manuell sökning. Huvudresultatet visade att sjuksköterskorna upplevde att en god kommunikation var betydelsefull i arbetet utifrån de fyra hörnstenarna; symtomkontroll, teamarbete, kommunikation och relation samt stöd till närstående i den palliativa vården. Arbetet utifrån hörnstenarna upplevdes fungera bra i flera avseenden, dock uppstod svårigheter i vården vilket sjuksköterskorna hanterade genom användning av en emotionsfokuserad, meningskapande och/eller problemfokuserad coping. Av samtliga artiklar tillämpade tre ett strategiskt urval, en ett bekvämlighetsurval och en ett teoretiskt urval.

Huvudsyftet med vårt examensarbete är att undersöka vilken August Strindbergsbild gymnasielärare har idag, år 2005. Utifrån ett litteraturdidaktiskt, -historiskt och -sociologiskt perspektiv undersöker vi även varifrån de har fått sin bild, vad och hur (varför, vem, när) de förmedlar den. Samma frågeställningar ställer vi även till ett antal svenska läromedelsförfattare som författat litteraturhistoria och antologier. Förutom det granskar vi ett urval av deras utgivna läroböcker som används av de gymnasielärare som ingår i vår undersökning. Vi använder oss av kvalitativa intervjuer till lärare, kvalitativa enkätfrågor till läromedelsförfattare samt analyserar ett begränsat urval av text och illustrationer i deras utgivna läroböcker.

We believed that knowledge organisation of manga and manhwa with homosexual (including lesbian) themes might be a challenge for Swedish public libraries. One of the reasons for this is that these themes in manga and manhwa usually occur in genres not directed towards an LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) audience. To see how Swedish public libraries treat such titles and why they treat them as they do, we examined a selection of public libraries, their collections, acquisitions, cataloguing and shelving of relevant titles. The theory used is mainly Grant Campbell?s binarisms, subject access to LGBTQ literature and critical analysis of knowledge organisation.

The taste of the dairy product is probably the main factor determining consumer?s dairy products choice. Consequently it is of great importance that the product tastes good and as expected every time. Off-flavors in milk can be caused by for example oxidation of the milk fat. Since copper is a prooxidant, a high copper content in the milk can cause oxidation.

Difficult calvings and stillbirths are problems in Swedish dairy production that result in large expenses for the farmers and welfare issues concerning the animals. A common opinion is that the live weight of SRB and SLB is increasing, and whether increased weights have caused the increase in calving problems has been discussed. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the relative birth weight (calf/cow) and calving difficulty and stillbirth, respectively. The importance of breed and parity for the relative weight has been investigated, and comparisons with previous studies have been made to evaluate whether the relative weight has changed over the last decades or not. The study was based on 807 calvings, registered during the period 1993-2003 in the experimental dairy herd of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Jälla).

At SLU, Divison of Reproduction, Dept of Clinical Science, there is an ongoing project on the development and evaluation of new methods for the assessment of stallion semen quality. This EEF-study, which is a part of that larger project, has focused on the effects on motility and fertility of stallion semen of two different extenders and selection. Both an objective method and a subjective method for analysis have been used and compared in the study. The increase in the use of artificial insemination with cooled semen in Swedish horse breeding over the last decade is thought to play a part in declining foaling rates (Kareskoski et al, 2006, Kuisma et al, 2006). This calls for better evaluation methods of semen quality since cooling and transportation put higher demands on semen quality in order to maintain fertility (Aurich, 2005).

Personlighetstest avser att mäta olika personlighetsdrag, olika egenskaper som formar individens personlighet. Personlighetstestet Predicting Job Performance, PJP, bygger på den så kallade ?femfaktormodellen? inom personlighetspsykologin och på studier av hur generell problemlösnings-förmåga påverkar arbetsprestation. PJP är ett arbetspsykologiskt instrument för användning i urval av arbetssökande. I föreliggande studie har personlighets-delen i PJP översatts till turkiska med syftet att utforska en turkisk version av instrumentets reliabilitet samt begrepps-validitet.

Sex equality law within the European Union is well developed and has since the Rome Treaty, given rise to several directives and other judicial acts on this matter of community law. The concepts of direct and indirect discrimination emerge from the general principles of Equal pay and Equal treatment and have been codified and amended several times until present.The lasts years, authors within the field of Equality Law has been pointing out that there is a common desire for simplification of discrimination law in Europe. The question has arisen whether this simplification could be implemented trough the introduction of a general justification defence for direct sex discrimination.The concept of direct sex discrimination - when a person of one gender is treated less favourably, on the grounds of gender, than a person of the other gender would be treated in similar circumstances - leaves no possibilities for such justification today. Indirect sex discrimination ? which arises from the equal application of neutral rules that shows an adverse impact on one group ? can be justified if the rule answers to true requirements of the job.Does the proposition that direct discrimination should be justified find support in the inconsistency of the present legislation? This paper will examine this and other questions concerning the wish for a general justification defence through studies of case law from the European Court of Justice as well as differing opinions from authors within the field of equality law..

Uppsatsens syfte var att beskriva och analysera kring varför män begår övergrepp, våldtäkt, mot kvinnor ur ett förövarpsykologiskt och psykodynamiskt perspektiv så som det beskrivs i ett urval av forskningslitteraturen. Den frågeställning som har varit i fokus för uppsatsen är; hur litteraturen beskriver och diskuterar ur ett förövarperspektiv med fokus på det psykodynamiska perspektivet övergrepp, våldtäkt, mot kvinnor. Studien utfördes i form av en selektiv kunskapsöversikt och bygger på ett urval av litteratur av svenska forskare och forskare med internationell koppling. Huvudinriktningen var att fokusera på utvalda teman där självbild/identitet, uppväxt, manlighet och alkohol användes för att belysa och strukturera upp problembilden. De viktigaste resultaten visade att förövarna var män som tidigt i livet blivit traumatiserade av olika slag.

Syftet med den här uppsatsen är att försöka förstå vad ungdomar och i synnerhet dagens elever har för tankar kring kristendomen och vad som anses vara relevant i religionsundervisning för eleven. Uppsatsen är uppdelad i två delar. För det första har jag med elevernas bilder och bilder från läromedel och jag ska göra en jämförelse för att se om det finns någon skillnad. För det andra finns en del angående urval av material som både elever och lärare kan använda sig av. I första delen ska jag se vilka urval som läraren har när de väljer undervisningsmaterial och jämföra med vad eleverna, den andra delen, vill ha för sorts material i kristendomsundervisningen.  Mina frågeställningar i del ett är: Vad har elever, på min partnerskola, för syn på religionen kristendomen? Hur skiljer sig elevernas bilder i jämförelse med läroböckernas bilder? Mina frågeställningar i del två är: Vilken sorts material kan man använda sig av i kristendomsundervisningen för att göra ämnet mer intressant? Vad vill eleverna använda för undervisningsmaterial och hur kan de vara med och påverka? .

Mitt syfte är att analysera hur ett urval läroböcker behandlar genus i avsnitten om judendomen jämfört med avsnitten om kristendomen, i både text och bild. De värderingar och normer som framkommer ska dessutom sättas i förhållande till Lpf 94. Metoden jag använder mig av för att analysera texterna och bilderna är Norman Faircloughs kritiska diskursanalys. Till Faircloughs modell har jag även tillfogat två av Raewyn Connells fyra dimensioner av genus för att på ett enkelt sätt kunna se om genus exkluderas i text och bild. Jeanette Sky bok Genus och religion spelar en central roll i uppsatsen.
