The traditional view of maintenance is machine-based, where acute maintenance tasks are highly valued. Preventive maintenance is viewed as secondary and less desirable to work with. The more modern view is to regard maintenance as a process. The machine-driven tasks are still necessary but are viewed as a part of the big picture.The purpose of this study is to examine how to high light general difficulties concerning maintenance management to aid organizations to reflecting upon their own situation. The study is based upon a pilot study initiated by ProcessIT concerning relevant key figures in maintenance.

The aim of this Masters thesis is to examine the user service discourses in the field of public libraries that can be identified in four Swedish library journals. Also which underlying causes that control the discourses and the consequences of them are examined. Questions in this study are: which discourses can be found, what characterises them, what kind of different discourses concerning technology in society control the user service discourses and what are the consequences of them. The theoretical starting-point is Ernesto Laclaus and Chantal Mouffes discourse theory. The method is text analytic.

Texo Application has created robots that they call for satellites; with these you can feed in storage pallets into a satellite storage. Satellite storages consist of channels in height (e.g.3 to 8 pieces) and width (e.g.3 to 100 pieces). Channels can be different long (e.g. 5 to 200 pallets). At deposit of a storage pallet the truck insert the satellite in a channel and then the pallet, the pallet is driven into the channel until it reaches another pallet or the other end.

Strategies for the board game Hive was implemented and evaluated in this project. The report covers the rules as well as the system that was implemented in order to build strategies. The strategies are evaluated based on how they perform against each other. Two search algorithms were implemented: Minmax and Alpha-Beta Pruning. The ambition with this study is to look into and create an understanding for how an intranet can work as a support system in work processes in capacity as a source of knowledge. We want to enhance the understanding for which kind of knowledge that can be coded in and transmitted by an intranet, and which that is lost in this process. We also want to clarify what it takes to get this knowledge, in collaboration with the intranet, to support the work in an organization. It is a qualitative case study at a Swedish bank. It consisted of semi standardized, half structured interviews with five people in one of the bank?s local offices.

Syftet med detta arbete är att finna svar på hur vi, inför framtidens stadsbyggande, kan åstadkomma optimalt hållbara, trivsamma och välfungerande miljöer och bostadsområden för alla oberoende av kön, ålder, bakgrund och samhällsklass. Med lanskapsarkitekturstudier, projektarbeten samt litteraturstudier som grund utkristalliserades tolv frågeställningar varav den om "Blandstaden" blev den viktigaste, då blandstaden sägs vara vår tids nya stadsbyggnadsvision (Bellander 2005, s.6). För närmare undersökning av begreppet valdes två olika stadsdelar i Stockholm som båda är planerade med blandstaden som ideal. En stadsdel är driven av kommersiella överväganden och en styrs av kommunen. Två yrkespersoner med stor kunskap om respektive plats intervjuades. Platserna besöktes och fotograferades och efter analys av materialet besvarades tolv frågeställningar. De huvudsakliga slutsatserna av arbetet är att blandstaden blivit det nya stadsbyggnadsidealet som en reaktion mot de zonerade städer som det tidigare planeringsidealet har gett upphov till och som vi idag ser stora nackdelar med. Skillnaden mellan förändringsprojekt drivna av kommunen och kommersiella överväganden var inte så stora som jag förväntat mig, då även kommunen i praktiken är driven av vinstintressen och verkar uppmuntra gentrifieringsprocessen. Strävan efter socialt blandade städer bottnar i en strävan efter en mångfasetterad, attraktiv och stimulerande miljö (Bellander 2005, s.25). På lång sikt är arbetet för en socialt blandad stad en metod att förebygga motsättningar mellan olika grupper i samhället. Fördelarna med en social blandning är dock mer komplexa än vad man kan tro, då konsekvenserna av att göra nedgångna områden mer attraktiva kanske inte nödvändigtvis gynnar de boende utan i värsta fall tvingar dem att flytta ifrån sina hem. Planeringsverktyget blandstaden verkar fungerar bra i den bemärkelsen att man kan främja funktionsblandning som i sig är en viktig faktor för en stimulerande och trygg stadsmiljö. Det är dock inte lika säkert att blandstaden är det mest effektiva verktyget för att åstadkomma en social blandning. Därför är mitt förslag på fortsatt kunskapsutveckling inom området att undersöka resultat av alternativa planeringsverktyg för att främja social mångfald som ?Social Housing?..

This thesis is about making a support for barcode readers and RFID readers on a computermounted in heavy vehicles. The computer has several applications designed for heavyvehicles such as an order handling application. The goal was to suggest an architecture toimplement a support for the readers. The architecture should be independent of whichmanufacturer who has made the reader hardware that was connected to the computer.At first a theoretically study was made around RFID technology and standards for thetransport and supply sector. Then the architecture was developed and a demo implementationwas made.The conclusion of this thesis is to implement support for barcode readers with a wedgeapplication.

When planning new wind farms, the cost for the internal electrical grid is estimated to account for 8-9 % of the total investment cost. On top of that, the cost for accumulated reduced income over several years (due to electrical losses), has to be added. The economic lifespan is relatively long (about 20 years) which means that an error in the loss calculation could lead to a bad decision basis. The accumulated reduced incomes due to electrical losses can be higher than the initial investment cost for the internal electrical grid.Today, Statkraft Sweden is using a template number when estimating the electrical losses in a wind farm. Ett företag behöver exempelvis anpassa både sina affärsprocesser och det nya affärssystem för allt som sker inom företaget. På grund av komplexiteten som detta för med sig är implementeringen ofta ett stort steg för företaget och dess anställda.

This thesis investigates the effect of profit growth and profitability on market capitalization amongst Nordic companies during the turbulent period 1997-2005. Our results suggest that profitability have a significant impact on market capitalization for six of the nine years studied, whereas profit growth does not seem to affect market capitalization. Consequently, our results imply that the effect of other factors on share price performance may be greater than previously suggested. These findings are only partly in line with theories on corporate valuation which suggest that market capitalizations are to a great extent driven by both profit growth and capital returns, regardless of whether the stock market is particularly unstable..

Since about 15% of the citizens of Sweden are born abroad or have a foreign background, the subject of investigation becomes relevant because it touches a wide user group of the public library.Interviews were conducted with four librarians responsible for purchasing of foreign literature. The purpose of these interviews was to investigate which underlying strategies and thoughts are used as a basis for purchasing.Since the library act does not include guidelines regarding the content of the foreign literature collection, how is the literature chosen and to what purpose?As a theoretical framework a self-developed model was used to categorize the foreign literature into its different functions.
