The aim of this master thesis has been to investigate discussions about public access to Internet in public libraries. Areas of interest were the debate in Sweden as well as in the United States. The approach was qualitative and questionnaires were distributed by e-mail to a number of Swedish public libraries. The results from the survey were then supplemented with a theoretical background and a literature study. The usable questionnaires obtained from 20 libraries showed a rather uniform approach among the Swedish librarians of how the Internet is best provided by public libraries.

The purpose of this paper was to study the various organisations that work with drug abusing homeless people in Lund. We have tried to compare the possibilities they have to change the way the homeless people look at themselves. The organisations that we have studied are Aluma, Diakonicentralen, the shelter Piletorp and the social welfare office.The methods used to collect data were interviews with professionals and homeless people as well as reading literature. We have used Ted Goldberg's (docent in social work at the university in Stockholm) theory. He writes that you have to be a significant other to persons with deviant behaviour to be able to help them become a part of the society and to change the way they look at themselves.

Very often the interesting variables are explained by several underlying variables and in statistical analyses it is common to study the relationship between variables and groups of variables. Because of this multivariate analysis is commonly used in both Science and industry. There are two problem with both univariate and multivariate analyses. One is when the variables are correlated. The other is when the number variables of exceeds the number of observations which makes the matrices algebra used in the analysis impossible to execute.

Varje år drabbas mellan 200-300 barn av cancer. Föräldrarna till dessa barn ställs inför en ny verklighet där hela tillvaron vänds upp och ner. Syftet med studien var att belysa föräldrars upplevelser när ett barn drabbas av cancer. Studien baserades på tre självbiografiska böcker som analyserades enligt Dahlbergs (1997) innehållsanalys för kvalitativa studier. Analysen resulterade i sju kategorier som omfattar föräldrarnas upplevelser i samband med att deras barn drabbades av cancer.

The purpose of this thesis is to explore how the internal information processing and management is carried out within a unit of Viskafors municipality. Furthermore, to explore and make recommendations of how the organisation can improve its internal information management. To get a full picture I have interviewed people at different levels of the organisation. The main findings showed that there was a dysfunction in the internal information processing and management. For example the study showed that the internal information did not reach out to the different parts of the organisation due to insufficient information processing.

Uppsatsen syftar till att kartlägga, beskriva och diskutera ungdomars attityd kring mäns våld i hemmet. Akutvårdspersonal utsätts allt mera för svårare katastrofer och olyckor. Vilket leder till en ökad press på personalen. Syftet med denna studie var att belysa hur akutvårdspersonalen bearbetar traumatiska händelser för att inte utveckla post-traumatiskt stress syndrom. Metoden var en litteraturstudie. Artiklarna analyserades med Lundman och Graneheims (2008) kvalitativa innehållsanalys.18 artiklar analyserades.

Denna B-uppsats behandlar huruvida Polen som medlem av europeiska unionen har stort eller litet inflytande. Vi har genomfört en fallstudie på Polen som är uppdelad i två sektioner. Den första sektionen behandlar Polens potentiella inflytande i EU, där vi har mätt olika indikatorer för att få fram variabler som påvisar inflytande. Indikatorerna baserar vi på en teoretisk diskussion om makt, där vi utgår från olika tänkare inom samhällsvetenskapen. I den andra sektionen har vi studerat Polens reella inflytande genom att se vilka krav Polen ställt inom den gemensamma jordbrukspolicyn (CAP) samt i vilken utsträckning man fått igenom dessa krav.Nyckelord: Polen, EU, makt, inflytande, CAP.

The purpose of this two years master´s thesis in Archive, Library and Information Museum Science is to examine the ideas about children and childhood which have an influence on the storytime at public libraries. The material on which this thesis is based, is a methodbook which is aimed to develop the storytimes and those picture books that are recommend in the methodbook. The theoretical points of departure are discourse analysis and childhood sociology. The concepts of being and becoming are frequently used when analyzing the methodbook. Other theoretical points of departure are the combination of narratologi, semiotics and hermeneutics, which are also used when analyzing the picture books.The result indicates that the storytime, recommended in the methodbook, is based on the idea of a timeless culture of childhood - where the "modern child" including the media used today - is left out. Concepts as nostalgia and pedagogy are tightly connected.

This study aims to examine play as a phenomena from a phenomenological approach. This I do by discussing a dominant approach to play, an perspective which is reproduced in the context of pre-school and in where the play and learning is in single focus. Using alternative perspective on play, mainly by Gadamer and Bakthtins philosophical thoughts about the feast or the carnival, contents differ significantly from educational or developmental psychology perspectives. I open up for an understanding of what play as ontology can be understood as, and thereby enable second readings. I illustrate this thought by an empirical example from a pre-school context which where created alongside with the children in the study.

Integration is a phenomena that occurs in all societies that experience any form of immigration. This process is dependent on how we analyze, both the groups of immigrants, and how we analyze the society in which they becoming integrated.Intersectionality is one method of analyzing this framework. By applying the categories: gender, class and race on the integration process, we get a more complex picture of the subject. Therefore we also become more able to adjust the actions and arrangement around the different questions of inte-gration.In this essay I try to explain what the intersectionality is, how it is used and how it can apply in integration as a specific subject. I also apply the intersectionality model on different policy documents from Malmö, Vellinge and Landskrona to find out if they show any awareness of this model both explicitly and implicitly..

The aim of the study is to evaluate how a law decided 2002 regarding discrimination against students in the higher education system in Sweden, was implemented at the University of Kalmar and Växjö University.The study asks two questions: How did the both universities implement the law? How did the universities manage to implement the law? In order to answer these questions the ?top-down? perspective, often used in field social Science within discipline implementation, is used. First the study examines the goals with the legislation, and thereafter the actual implementation at the both examined universities.The conclusion is that the universities has high ambitions with implementation of the law and extensive formalized regulations but that it practically seems to be hard to get legitimacy with the implementation throughout the whole organizations. This makes the implementation work slowly though it?s working well with the people who have direct responsibility for the implementation..

Detta arbete rör sig inom det organisationsteoretiska området. Ämnet som behandlas är kontrollspann och vad som påverkar och påverkas av detta. Vi har funnit att det finns en stor mängd olika faktorer som kan sägas påverka hur en organisation väljer eller bör välja att strukturera sig. I uppsatsens första del har vi försökt identifiera vilka effekter olika breda kontrollspann kan tänkas ha för en verksamhet samt vilka rekommendationer som finns i den existerande forskningen kring kontrollspann.I andra delen av uppsatsen undersöker vi Lunds universitetssjukhus akutmottagning, där man nyligen (2006) genomfört en omorganisation som bla innebar avsmalnande av första linjens chefers kontrollspann. Vi har funnit att många av de effekter som man kunnat förvänta sig inte har inträffat i vårt exempelfall..

AbstractThis thesis explores how secondary schoolteachers in Swedish, prioritise from the Swedish language history materials. The study includes interviews with two Swedish teachers and inquiries with students in two classes at the social Science programme (third year). The student literature that is used has been analysed and the teaching is compared with the Swedish central teaching plan. The results show that the students are weak in placing language at different historical time periods and make conclusions of this. The results from both the inquiries and teaching contents disclose a general weakness as it comes to Swedish language history.

Bröstcancer är den vanligaste cancerformen bland kvinnor, cirka 6 300 kvinnor i Sverige drabbas varje år. Ett cancerbesked innebär ett förändrat livsperspektiv för patienten. Syftet med denna kvalitativa litteraturstudie var att beskriva hur bröstcancerdrabbade kvinnor upplevde sjuksköterskans stöd. Litteraturstudien planerades och genomfördes enligt Polit & Hunglers (1999) arbetsgång. Resultatet delas in i tre olika kategorier: Emotionellt stöd, informativt stöd och instrumentellt stöd.
