Since prehistoric time man has used wood to build their environment. The material?s availabilitycombined with its good mechanical properties has often made it the material of choice. Like allmaterials exposed to natures degradative processes the properties of wood decreases over time.Rot, UV radiation and attacks by insects and pests damage wood if not protected. Since we wantwhat we build to consist, optimizing our building materials durability is of great interest.Techniques and methods for increasing the endurance of wood have been developed in severaldifferent places and for a long time.

As a result of increased energy prices more and more energy-efficient homes are coveted. An energy-efficient alternative is passive houses, which is characterized by an extremely well insulated building envelope that recovers the heat without the use of radiators or under floor heating. But a passive house requires a higher investment cost than a conventional building project, since it will require more construction materials, training of construction workers, greater land area, and long construction period. But the lower operating cost expects to pay back the higher cost of investment. We therefore question how profitable a passive house is in relation to houses built according to modern conventional building techniques.The aim of our study is to investigate the viability of passive houses compared to convent­ional houses.

The building industry consumes approximately 40 % of the total energy consumption in Sweden, where the using stage is dominating with 80 %. There is a lot of work in progress to reduce energy use in the building industry, and the demands from authorities regarding energy use increases. As a part of this work Building and planning department of Sweden has established a requirement that has been applied since 2006, and restricts a maximum energy use for buildings.The requirement includes that an energy simulation must be done in advance to demonstrate that it is possible to meet the demands.Reality is however more complex than an energy simulation program, that frequently underestimates the energy use of buildings. The purpose of this thesisis to study and analyse deviations between estimated and actual energy use in modern apartment buildings. The study includes four apartment buildings in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Jönköping that were built in 2007-2009.

The purpose of this essay is to examine if the municipality has a real freedom of action to control the use of the land and the shaping of the buildings in a large and prestigious building project.In Karlstad there is now (2006) a large building project in form of a shopping mall. This project is in its final stage of completion and offers me a suitable case to examine. To undertake the purpose of the essay, the following research question is formulated:Do the municipality have a real freedom of action to control the use of the land and the shaping of the buildings in a large and prestigious building project as the Mitt I City project?In an attempt to examine the project and the planning process, three themes are applied. Forskningsfrågorna som ligger till grund för undersökningen är följande: Hur resonerar lärare kring en korrekt pennfattnings betydelse för barns skrivförmåga? Hur resonerar lärare om att använda datorer och andra skrivhjälpmedel i barns skrivande? Vår undersökning kommer att belysas utifrån ett sociohistoriskt perspektiv.Uppsatsen tar upp ämne som skrivundervisning i Sverige, definition av en korrekt pennfattning, styrdokument, barnet som skrivande person samt datorn i undervisningen. Vi finner det rimligt att fråga hur korrekt pennfattning har betydelse för barns skrivförmåga.

This essay is written about how the physical environment affects teachers? own learning. The purpose is to see how the teachers? work is affected by various factors, such as the uses and placement of the teachers? offices, common room, or any other places where a meeting may occur. The survey was conducted using both interviews and observations of the teacher?s office.

Everyone has to take a greater responsibility in energy issues, both individuals and companies. There have been some major developments in the construction industry but there is still a lot to be done. This diploma work thesis presents different methods of making existing construction shed establishments to use less energy. What is possible to do and how much energy is there to be saved? A shed establishment consisting of 8 shed units were studied in this project and the building simulation tool VIP-Energy was used to simulate different types of material in the sheds. An infrared camera was used to locate thermal bridges. There are several factors that can be improved to make a construction shed establishment to use less energy.

The municipality of Enköping is presently working out a new layout plan for the town of Enköping and new residences are planned in the harbour area. Because of these plans, the municipal energy company ENA Energi may have to move its location from the harbour to another part of the city.The aim of this degree project is to investigate the possibility of building a new CHP plant in another area of Enköping. The future demand on district heating and infrastructure at the new location have been projected. Undersökningen har syftat till att ta reda på om materialet trä har samma funktion som det textila materialet i att förena människor i motsvarigheter till vad vi kallar syjunta. Undersökningen har därutöver behandlat frågor kring varför människor väljer att träffas på ett sådant sätt, hur relationer till materialet ser ut och vad tradition spelar för roll för denna form av verksamhet. Genom en kort historisk tillbakablick har undersökningen försökt hitta sy- och träjuntornas historiska ursprung. Etnografisk metod har använts för datainsamling, vilket i praktiken har inneburit deltagande observationer, samtal och intervjuer med deltagare i sex olika slöjdgrupper i Mellansverige.

The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to investigate how teachers view the way they build their relationships towards students, both in general and, more specifically, towards those students with some type of attention deficits. The focus of this thesis has been on how great an importance teachers place on this relationship. Especially when it comes to working with students with attention deficits. We also want to know to which extent this relational perspective is rooted in teachers' practice. The theoretical basis of this study is the relational perspective formulated by Aspelin and Persson (2011).

With rising energy prices and the threat of climate change, energy costs and energy savings havebecome a central and important part in building. Therefore it is interesting to explore different andnon-conventional methods of energy conservation. Building Earth sheltered houses is such a method.Earth provides good insulation and provides the ability to both reduce the total heating needs and toreduce the maximum power demand. The aim of this study was to construct a house in Malmö and seeif Earth sheltered houses can be a cost effective alternative for the construction of sustainable andenergy-efficient houses.Previous studies have shown that Earth sheltered houses have reduced their power requirement with upto 25% and their use of energy with 10%. Numerical calculations in Comsol Multiphysic 4.2, wasperformed on a house with different degrees of earth covering.

Denna studie undersöker ett antagande om att konst är bra för hälsan. I Sverige finns en tradition av att använda och producera bilder i vårdsammanhang men ingen traditionsbunden forskning eller utbildning för att utvärdera detta. Vem säger att bildskapandet är hälsosamt, och vilka argument används för att styrka detta?Vad sägs egentligen om bildskapande verksamhet och hälsa, av i första hand pedagogerna själva, men även av verksamheterna i deras informationstexter? Genom att använda diskursanalys som verktyg har jag samlat in och bearbetat material som består av institutionernas publicerade material samt transkriberade intervjuer med tre pedagoger. Mitt syfte är att undersöka talet om hälsoeffekter av konst bland i första hand pedagogerna själva från utvalda institutioner som på olika sätt arbetar hälsofrämjande.Studien är etnografisk kvalitativ.Resultaten visade att pedagogerna beskrev sinsemellan liknande observationer gällande konstens påverkan och klientens reaktioner, kommunicerande och producerande av bilder.

This work deals with the ability to control the flow through the heating system to achieve the desired comfort with as little energy as possibleA heating system contains of different parts, roughly speaking, you can divide it to three main components: Heat source, Distribution and Heat emitters. All components are working together to bring heat to the building. What is examined in this report are different ways of adjusting the flow and supply temperature and how it affects comfort and energy use in a building.At today ?s date the conventional method is to use a high flow through the heating system, which affects pressure drop and cooling of the fluid.
