This is an explorative study about subject indexing of a special collection of books, administered by the John Andrén Foundation at the library of Ystad. The study summarises a number of theoretical perspectives as well as some practical instructions on how to carry out the task. Theories have been placed into five different groups according to their various approaches to subject indexing. These have been analysed in regard to their usefulness to the Andrén collection. The authors have tested and evaluated six practical models on a selection of books from the Andrén collection.

This essay analyses the existence of a literary tendency in Sweden the last decade, which shares many similarities with magical realism. The study includes the work of three writers: Majgull Axelsson with Aprilhäxan; John Ajvide Lindquist with Hanteringen av odöda and Låt den rätte komma in; and finally a short story of Alejandro Leiva Wegner, ?Elixir?.Focus for this work is to expose how these writers use supernatural events/people as a strategy to create a new identity and to effect social criticism, strategies that are common to magical realism.The aim of this work is therefore to clarify generalities about magical realism as a genre and give it a place in Swedish literature and in a changing Swedish society. Furthermore this essay defines a unique term for the genre as adapted to the Swedish reader and with some characteristics of its own: ?övernaturlig realism? (supernatural realism)..

Flexibel skolstart är ett förslag från Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting och innebär att ett barn kan börja skolan när det anses vara som mest lämpligt. Lämpligheten skall avgöras av föräldrar i samtal och samverkan med förskolepersonal och skolpersonal. Förslaget går ut på att barn börjar skolan när det är som mest lämpat, vilket kan ske när som helst under året. I förslaget finns en spann mellan barnets femte levnads år till och med dess åttonde där det finns möjlighet att välja sin skolstart utifrån individens förutsättningar och vilja. Syftet med vårt arbete var att ge en helhetsbild av det pågående förändringsarbetet för ett livslångt lärande, en flexibel skolstart - flexibel skolgång.

This paper is a case study on Bradley E. My opinion is that this sort of dilemma is a question of values, how you view the world and, most important of all, human rights and the philosophy of rights. Therefore I decided to sort out the arguments regarding the issue of freedom of speech versus the state?s need for protection.

Bakgrunden till studien var att verksamheten SÄBO (särskilt äldreboende) på ?Distansgatan 7? önskade erhålla ett vetenskapligt perspektiv på förändringen som har skett sedan enheten var med i tv programmet ?Uppdrag granskning? utifrån Kotters åttastegsprocess vid förändring (Kotter, 1996).Syftet med studien är att kartlägga hur anhöriga, medarbetarna, enhetschefer och politiker upplevt organisationsförändringen på äldreboendet Distansgatan 7 som har använt sig av John P. Kotter (1996) och budskapet i boken ?Leda förändring?. Kotters budskap bygger på en åttastegsmodell som styr förändringen.

Portable is a project with its starting point in plastic bags, how they negatively affect our planet and how people´s patterns of behavior and qualities of life are affected when people try to live more envi¬ronmentally friendly. Now we have reached the point when peoples way of living and consuming in the western world has to change. This is nothing new and we can now see that sustainability is start¬ing to get attention in every area.Today plastic bags are used on average for 12 minutes. Only one out of 200 is reused, and then only once . This is not sustainable at all.

Syftet med detta arbete är att studera elevers upplevda inflytande kopplat till rådsverksamheten på en skola där alla elever deltar i något råd. Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ metod och genomfört semistrukturerade intervjuer med fyra elever på skolan. Resultatet från intervjuerna har vi analyserat och tolkat utifrån styrdokument, tidigare forskning och John Deweys teori om demokrati i skolan. Resultatet visar att respondenterna upplever att de har stort inflytande via rådsverksamheten men lyfter även att alla elever på skolan inte har inflytande. Eleverna ger en bild av att rådsverksamheten möjliggör för eleverna att ta stor plats och att det snarare är elevstyrt än lärarstyrt.

Byggnader i Sverige står för cirka 40 procent av landets totala energianvändning och det är därför viktigt att man försöker hitta energieffektiviseringar kring detta område.Målet med energieffektiviseringen är att skapa möjligheter för en hållbar samhällsutveckling, trygga vår energiförsörjning och samtidigt kunna minska EU:s beroende av importerad energi.Syftet med detta examensarbete är att hjälpa John Mattson Fastighets AB att uträtta en energideklaration för fastighetsbeståndet ute på Lidingö. Målet är att komma fram till energibesparingsåtgärder som är kostnadseffektiva och värna om kundkvalitén. När man sedan genomför åtgärderna kommer det att medföra att driftkostnaderna minskas och att hyresgästerna får en bättre boendemiljö samt bidrar till ett hållbart samhälle.Det visar sig att två kostnadseffektiva energibesparingsförslag skulle kunna minska energiförbrukningen i fastighetsbeståndet med ungefär 15 % som inte kräver några större ingrepp i byggnaderna. Investeringskostnaden är låg och Pay-Off-tiden relativt kort om man jämför med andra besparingsförslag.

This essay is a normative analysis concerning the question of whether the government should be allowed to use taxes to finance the state. What kind of ethical problems arise when the government use taxation? If it is possible to justify taxation, despite potential moral issues, then what should the government do with the funds they have collected? What kinds of government functions are morally justified? Is it merely the kinds of functions that are supposed to uphold negative human rights; or should the government provide health care, education and even culture for the citizens? This analysis aims to answer those questions and also formulate a principle about what the government should be occupied with, if anything at all. In order to achieve this I mainly use the terms freedom and justice to analyse ethical problems. The ideas of John Rawls and Robert Nozick are essential in this project.My answer is that taxation is justified as long as the purpose is to maintain the most fundamental human rights and also under other special circumstances such as if an individual cannot find a way to finance basic education or necessary health care.

The aim of this essay is, firstly, to ? through a text analysis ? compare the curriculum of Waldorf education in Sweden (in the essay referred to as ?WL?) to the Swedish national curriculum ?Lpo 94?, to uncover possible differences and similarities between these documents, and, secondly, to present the roots and educational philosophies that these two curricula, respectively, are based upon. The purpose hereby is to be able to trace, describe and explain the differences between the pedagogical practices of Waldorf education and that of conventional Swedish schools.In the essay, a historical investigation of the main traditions of ideas behind the Swedish national curriculum is briefly carried out, where I swiftly present the educational philosophies of John Dewey (1859-1952) and Lev S. Vygotsky (1896-1934). Next, an investigation of the worldview and philosophy of Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) is effectuated, where I attempt to bring to light Steiner?s anthroposophical and holistic worldview ? a worldview that throughout the 20th century has developed into an international and wide-ranging anthroposophical movement ? as well as his concepts of knowledge, science and educational philosophy.

Uppsatsens övergripande syfte är att utröna huruvida ett specifikt samtida populärkulturellt verk ? den amerikanska filmen John Q (2002) ? i representationen av sina karaktärer befäster en kolonialistisk diskurs eller om dessa gestaltas på ett sätt som skiljer sig från denna diskurs representationsmönster. Med kolonialistisk diskurs avser jag här en diskurs som fundamentalt gror ur de idémönster som var verksamma under den egentliga kolonialismen. Utifrån ett poststrukturalistiskt perspektiv med teoretiska analysinstrument från diskursteori och postkolonialism analyseras kvalitativt filmens karaktärer som indelas i fyra subjektspositioner; icke-vit man/kvinna och vit man/kvinna. Dessas identiteter undersöks i analysen utifrån fem huvudsakliga aspekter; 1/ funktion/roll i narrativet, 2/ personlighet och icke-fysiska egenskaper, 3/ agerande och förehavanden, 4/ utseende och slutligen 5/ eventuellt tydligt intertextuellt förhållande till den skådespelare som representerar honom/henne.Analysen visar att filmen John Q i upprättandet av en gynnad dikotomi mellan människa och system konstruerar karaktärernas identiteter på ett sätt som nästintill fullständigt följer den kolonialistiska diskursens representationsmönster.

Gunnebo House and Gardens was designed during the late 18th century by architect Carl Wilhelm Carlberg as a summer residence for the wealthy merchant John Hall Sr. and his family. The garden consists of formal garden, kitchen garden and English park. For the first two parts several original drawings have been preserved and here a lot of restoration work has been carried out. This paper aims to examine how the English park might have been implemented during John Hall Sr.?s time and to create a plant scheme for the area called ?Engelska kullen? (The English hill).

Previous research shows that Swedish teenagers? reading of fiction have decreased during the last decade (Skolverket 2006). As future librarians we found ourselves asking why, and an interest to look into this was triggered. The purpose of this Bachelor thesis is therefore to examine why teenagers? reading of fiction is decreasing. Focus lies on students? perception of their own reading, both inside and outside the school environment.
