This paper describes how files and information can be shared in organisations and workplaces. We studied and compared the traditional file sharing in Microsoft Active Directory and the Social file sharing that comes with Microsoft SharePoint Sites. We used qualitative studies based on interviews with system administrators, management and by our own observations to acquire the necessary data. Using independent research, we were able to analyze the data and show the general difference between the traditional and the social file sharing systems. Social file sharing enables the user to easily store and share files in a flexible online environment.

This thesis has been carried out in cooperation with a company which develops mobile sensor platforms. The sensors measure different types of data such as temperature, pressure etc.. They will communicate through the internet with a server that stores data in a database. This system will be controlled and monitored through a web page. The project's aim has been to develop this system and to implement a server, a database, a website and a client application that simulates sensor signals.

Vida Skog is supplying the whole Vida Ltd?s mills with wood raw material. This study aims to evaluate Vida Skog?s contractors and the relatively new contractorportal and to identify measures that are important for the contractors? skills. The purpose with the portal is to facilitate co-operation between contractors and buyers by streamlining the logistics of the whole wood supply process.The study was conducted in the form of a questionnaire.Most of the respondents were positive to the portal.

Målet med detta projekt var att hjälpa IT-Mästaren att kunna fakturera sina kunder på ett smidigare sätt. Deras dåvarande lösning av kundernas dataanvändning var tidskrävande och ineffektivt, därför ville de automatisera systemet. Det nya systemet skulle användas för att administrera kundernas servrar med hjälp av ett grafiskt gränssnitt och sedan kontakta dem för att få fram olika värden för respektive kund som ska presenteras på IT-Mästarens hemsida. På så sätt skulle de kunna fakturera sina kunder på ett mer effektivt sätt och även få bättre överblick av kundernas användning. I och med utvecklingen utav detta system så fördjupande jag mig dels i egna kända områden men jag lärde mig också nya kunskaper. Det gällde inte enbart teknisk utveckling utan också undersökning av exempelvis hämtningen av alla data som skulle göras.

I processen att utveckla nya funktioner i ett SharePoint-baserat system måste utvecklarenvälja vilken datalagringsmetod som ska användas. Det finns två primära metoder attanvända sig av när data ska lagras i SharePoint. Den första är att använda SharePointsinbyggda listor. Den andra är att använda en egenutvecklad databas att arbeta mot.Vi har i studien undersökt de båda metoderna och studerat litteratur för att ta fram viktigaaspekter som bör beaktas vid val av datalagringsmetod. De aspekter vi tagit fram är;snabbhet, underhåll, flexibilitet, dataintegritet, redundans, tillgänglighet, säkerhet ochenkelt att utveckla i.

Detta examensarbete gjordes i två syften, att ge Scania teoretiskt underlag till en ny teknik för hantering av personalens från och närvaroplanering, samt implementera den nya tekniken. Scanias dåvarande lösning utnyttjades genom att använda olika Excel-ark, dessa har uppfattats som ineffektiva och krångliga att arbeta med. Detta har lett till en hel del extra administrativt arbete och behovet av en ny lösning definierades till ett examensarbete.Den initiala fasen av projektet handlade om att förstå relevanta processer rörande från och närvaroplanering. Allt eftersom processerna var förstådda definierades krav på den nya lösningen genom kvalitativa metoder och intervjuer med respondenter av olika befattningar från verksamheten. Kraven som erhölls från intervjuerna visade sig vara relativt konsistenta och fastställdes i en kravspecifikation.

The aim of this master's thesis is to present an introduction to semiological analysis of web based material, which is a hypothesis that combines the theoretical framework of classical Saussurean semiology, visual social semiotics as was developed by Günther Kress and Theo van Leeuwen, and Roland Barthes's notion of 'Myths'. Furthermore, a new tool called 'pseudo-signifier', constructed solely for the thesis, is also used in conjunction with the semiological analysis. The hypothesis is tested in a case study involving the web portal of a Swedish commune, Gothenburg (goteborg.se). A complete semiological analysis is performed on the case. The case study revealed numerous findings of interest, among others that images and texts on the web portal were sometimes used in a contradicting manner, and often in a way that symbollically excluded citizens from the portal, a fact which could be uncovered when studying underlying myths that permeated the web portal.

Speedledger is a company that is working to automate electronic accounting for businesses, organizations and associations.In the current situation bank data is sent from the users internet bank to Speedledger via a virtual printer driver. The driver transforms the web page into a PDF and sends it to a server for interpretation.The problem is that PDF is not created for this sort of data transfer and makes the interpretation of data is very problematic.The goal of the thesis is to study whether there is a possibility to develop a browser add-on that can retrieve information on the customer's banking page and send it on to Speedledgers server for interpretation. My task was to implement a add-on for one of the three major browsers Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then study the possibility of implementing it to the other two by reading the documentation.What I concluded was that it is possible to implement for all the three browsers. However, the techniques will differ slightly when developing these add-ons.  .

Denna rapport beskriver arbetet med att utveckla en iPhone app och ett serverprogram till Mac. Programmet är tänkt att användas av besökare på festivaleroch liknande evenemang. Så de kan dela med sig av vad de ser med andrabesökare. Appen använder den inbyggda kameran för att ta bilder som sedanautomatiskt laddas upp till en lokal server om en finns tillgänglig. Serverprogrammet sparar bilderna och visar dem sedan på en skärm eller med envideo projektor eller något liknande.

The company System Andersson is developing systems for controlling materials and production in industries. They want to add a new service, where parts of those systems are accessible through cell phones.In this paper we are investigating which technology are best suited for this kind of application. And then we describe how we are developing a prototype fort this application, based upon that technology. After investigating technologies such as Java ME, Microsoft Silverlight, and web applications we settled upon building the system as a web application, customized for a mobile environment.To build a web page which is readable by many different cell phones we use the markup-languages which are developed for cell phones. We put much effort in reading about the standards and recommendations for the mobile web, produced by the organizations W3C and OMA.

An increasing number of applications are becoming more or less network based today.The traditional architecture for network based applications is client-server, but as usageof download services are going up, so is the Peer-to-Peer architecture. This report is acomparison between the Peer-to-Peer and client-server model, and can serve as a basiswhen a decision between them needs to be taken. In the report, the performancebetween the different architectures is compared in different contexts. Our basis is ageneral implementation of both architectures in a test that is derived from a previousreport. On top of this, the performance of the different architectures are measured,implemented in a gaming-context.

Många Internetrelaterade företag har den senaste tiden på börser runt om i världen värderats till flera miljarder kronor. Internetföretag utan vinst eller historia är svåra att värdera med traditionella värderingsmetoder och därför krävs andra tillvägagångssätt för värdering. Syftet är att beskriva vilka faktorer som påverkar värderingen av Internetportaler samt att med hjälp av dessa faktorer försöka värdera en portal. Undersökningen är dels teoretisk och behandlar avsaknaden av fungerande modeller för portal-värdering, dels rör problemet vårt fallföretag, på vilket vi försöker applicera de tillvägagångssätt vi funnit. De faktorer som åsyftas är snarare antal besökare, portalens intäkter och kostnader än makroekonomiska faktorer som ränteläget.

Jag har undersökt vad människor i Folkmusiksverige vill läsa om på en kommande internetportal, folkmusikportalen.se. Detta har jag gjort genom en enkät, som låg på Internet och var öppen i två veckor. Jag fick in 81 svar. Frågorna jag ställde handlade om respondenternas bakgrund, hur de ställer sig till reklam, vad de vill läsa/diskutera om och vilka konferenser de eventuellt har besökt och vilka ämnen som isf togs upp där.Jag har kommit fram till att intresset för en kommande portal är stort. Jag har fått mycket förslag på vilka ämnen och funktioner som skulle kunna finnas med på portalen.

CML Data AB is a small IT-company that offers complete IT-solutions adjusted to the needs of the customers. It is hard for the employees to bring all necessary papers, files and software when visiting a customer. They also have difficulties planning their daily work and to keep track of each other, because of the lack of a shared calendar.The purpose of this report is to answer the following questions:- How do you develop a centralized information system for CML Data AB where it is possible for the employees to gain access to files, plan their days and where the customers can get access to relevant information?- How do you develop an information system that is easy to manage?- How do you make it easier for the employees at CML Data AB to update their homepage?We discussed the problems and the future information system with the employees and were able to establish a set of needs and requirements which we then used as a foundation during the software development. We used user centered system design during the whole process and focused a lot on usability and interaction design.The project resulted in a stylistically pure and user friendly portal.

This Master Thesis treats the non monetarian aspect about the Internet Portal from a consumer and company perspective. The purpose of this thesis i st o give or create a picture and a tool, a model for how the Internetportal could be evaluated an valued. By creating a so called Dynamic Scorecard the authors of this Thesis have created a model throug which the purpose of this thesis is served. Through this model the authors have come to the conclusion that the Internet Portal can be evaluated through both economic, social, service and technical factors as well as through what relationship the companies or consumers value concerning the Internet provider. The product of conclusions of this Thesis is that there are three main factors upon wich the Internet Portal is valued.
