The usage of parks : a study of three parks in Uppsala

In today?s world urbanisation is an on-going process, cities are growing and becoming denser, and places for recreation gain value. Therefore, urban parks are much appreciated by people living in cities. When the first public parks where planned, their main function was to increase health, hygiene, education and social life. In the middle of 19th century the meaning of public parks to people?s wellbeing gained attention and parks were planned to provide space for lively activities. This paper focuses on parks? activities.

Cycling is one of the most sustainable transport modes available and it is widely promoted inmany urban areas. The health benefits from cycling has shown to be substantial, includingdecreased risks of diseases related to overweight and enhancing brain capacity. However, inurban areas cyclists can temporaly be exposed to high levels of air pollution, resulting inhealth risks as opposed to health benefits.The objective of this thesis is to develop a rasterbased test model in GIS that estimates theinhaled dose of air pollution for cyclists based on relative particle concentration in differenttransportation micro-environments. The method used is a least-cost path approach,calculating three different routes; shortest, fastest and least dose for four different trips withinSödermalm, Stockholm.The results show that the inhaled particle dose can be greatly reduced, 39% - 58% for three ofthe routes, by choosing the least dose route. One of the most interesting findings is thesubstantial increase of dose when high levels of particles are combined with uphill cycling.The conclusion for the thesis is that a raster-GIS model can be very useful for estimating doseof different air pollution particles and chemicals along cycling routes.

In Sweden the social assistance from a historical perspective, has been a part of the social legislation, since the 18th century. In that time called poor relief. Through the centuries this has established the social assistance we have today. With focus on the child, we have attempted to illustrate how the social workers consider the child perspective when they are dealing with the social assistance. We wanted to get a view of how the social worker reasons about needs the children have and how they can see that the benefit has been provided for.

Hedström Tom, Care planning teams. Advantages and disadvantages. Examination work C-level, 15 hp, Malmö Högskola, Health and society, Social works program, autumn semester 2009. The purpose of my work was to find out what the advantages and disadvantages might be with a care planning team from a support administrators point of view. The data collection for this work was done by semi-structured qualitative interviews with five people, all working as support administrators within the social services in the same region and town in Sweden. In my choice of interviewees i have tried to get such a diverse mix as possible when it comes to the interviewees experience in the profession and experience with care plannings.

Barns olika världar    : En studie om Reggio Emilia, Waldorf & Montessori

Syftet med vårt examensarbete var att bidra med fördjupad kunskap kring vad det innebär för ett barn att gå i en förskola med Reggio Emiliafilosofi, Waldorf- eller Montessoripedagogik.Den metod som vi har använt oss av är en kvalitativ undersökning då genom semi-strukturerade intervjuer. Innan dessa intervjuer har vi skrivit ihop vårt teoretiska ramverk för att få kunskap om ämnet vi valt. Sammanlagt så har vi intervjuat nio pedagoger på sex olika förskolor.I resultatet så fann vi både likheter och olikheter inom de olika inriktningarna. Vi anser att det är viktigt att vara medveten om detta då det hör till det förhållningssätt mot de barn man arbetar med. Vår förhoppning är att ge läsaren någon form av tankeställare och på så vis fundera på sitt förhållningssätt samt kanske hitta något användbart att använda i sin egen verksamhet..

Uterum som klassrum : En studie av gymnasieungdomars upplevelser och tankar om att lära ute

Syftet med studien var att ta reda på hur gymnasieungdomar upplever utomhuspedagogiska moment i undervisningen. Det är en kvalitativ undersökning gjord vid Bernadottegymnasiet i Stockholm. Studien baseras på deltagande observationer under drygt två fältdygn och på semi-strukturerade intervjufrågor med tolv elever, i tre fokusgrupper. Resultatet visar att elever upplever utomhuspedagogiska undervisningsmoment positivt.

Högskolan - en klass för sig? : En intervjustudie om gymnasieungdomars tankar kring högre utbildning

Statistik visar att elever med akademiskt utbildade föräldrar oftare tar sig vidare till högre utbildningar än de som har föräldrar med lägre utbildningsnivå. Bourdieu har länge belyst fenomenet med sina teorier om kulturell reproduktion och selektion vid högre utbildningar. Det finns även ett samband mellan utbildningsnivå och hälsoläge ur ett folkhälsoperspektiv. Syftet med undersökningen är att problematisera och belysa hur gymnasieelever resonerar kring universitet- och högskolestudier ur ett Bourdieuperspektiv. Kvalitativa semi-strukturerade interjuver har genomförts och teoretiskt tolkats utifrån Bourdieus teorier.

The purpose of doing this research except for educational reasons is to show significant effects that make motivational work successful. The choice of subject we decided out of experience from the term of practise. The description of the subject is from the social workers angle of approach. The method we used is a qualitative study with semi structured interviews. We have looked at three different fields of social work from the view of six social workers, two from each field.

Radical Hotel : En affärsplan

Vi åsyftar att undersöka möjligheterna att starta upp och driva det mindre hotellet. Vi vill med denna affärsplan undersöka marknaden och upptäcka eventuella brister i idén före den blir verklighet.Frågeställning: Hur etableras och drivs det mindre hotellet på ett framgångsrikt sätt?Vi har gjort en kvalitativ fallstudie på tre hotellföretag och använts oss av semi-strukturerade intervjuer med berörda personer på de tre olika hotellen. Teorin har insamlats genom relevant litteratur inom ekonomi och marknadsföring samt via elektroniska källor.Vi har visat på att det finns goda möjligheter att skapa en hotellverksamhet i en stad som Göteborg. Dock under vissa förutsättningar; att vi får tag i en lokal som passar våra behov samt att vi får en omsättningsbaserad hyra så vi slipper tunga investeringskostnader..

Våga inte blunda : en studie om förskollärares syn på anmälningsplikt enligt socialtjänstlagen

The aim of this study was to capture preschool-teachers thoughts and experience basing on the obligation. Are there any policies and procedures for preschool-teachers to use when suspicion that a child is being abused occur. Are there some factors that may affect preschool-teachers to report to the social service? How does the preschool-teacher find the contact with the Social Service? I conducted four interviews with four preschool-teachers, two of these preschool teachers are employed at the same municipal preschool and the other two are employed at two other preschools. The interviews were semi-structured and were conducted at each individual?s workplace.

In this study I want to survey which plays preschool teachers thinks are accepted in preschool and wish aren?t. I also found it relevant to investigate when and why they choose to interrupt a play and what happens when they do? My interest for the possibility that we might judge by some values was the reason for my question formulations and for the follow-up questions in my interview. For my survey I used semi-structured interviews to get a deeper knowledge about this domain and for the opportunity to ask further supplementary questions.The results show how preschool teachers accept most of the plays and that those plays that aren?t accepted and in need of being disrupted or to be changed mostly are plays where someone could be hurt or violated. It also shows that the preschool teachers think that they should regulate or interrupt children´s plays as little as possible because most of the time interruption turns the plays in a negative direction.My conclusion is that preschool teachers are willing to see children?s intentions but there are also norms and values that regulate what´s accepted or not..

Med språket i centrum : Undervisning i svenska som andraspråk i den mångkulturella grundskolan

The aim was to find out teachers in Swedish as a second language in primary schools view on how they work with a language development teaching in a multicultural environment. I did a semi-structured interview where I both made questions before the interview and also used individualized follow-up questions during my interview. I did that because I really wanted to get answers to the subject and the aim of the essay. Two teachers in Swedish as a second language have been interviewed. The result shows that a holistic approach to language development is important, where great emphasis lies on understanding. Teachers say that communication and interaction are key factors and that it is important with good linguistically appropriate and understandable texts where the words/concepts are learned and used in the right context. .

Attitudes towards the Region of Öresund among transnational work commuters

This study is concerned with the region of Öresund and the aspects of work commuting in particular. The purpose is to investigate attitudes and opinions towards the region among work commuters and then apply them to various theories relevant for the questioning, such as globalization, regionalization, ethnicity, nationalism, culture and identity. To investigate the attitudes towards the region we have done a number of interviews with commuters, using qualitative and semi-structured questions. The analysis is divided into three different parts; In Body and in Mind, Us and Them, the Future; and consists of a discussion of our informants? answers related to the theoretical aspects of the earlier mentioned theories.

Utvärdering av datorprogram för användning vid dagvattenutredningar

The main object of this diploma work thesis is about how computer programs can bea tool to use for work on stormwater investigations. The advantage of using acomputer program compared with calculations made by hand is evaluated anddiscussed. The computer programs that have been used for studies and a sequence oftesting of the possibilities are Autodesks Storm and Sanitary Analysis and DHIs MikeUrban.Focus on sustainable development now permeates the building industry. As a resultstormwater investigations have been conducted in an increasing extent the recentyears. Stormwater is water produced due to precipitation, such as rain and snowmelt.Stormwater investigations normally contain descriptions of existing land use, plannedland use and suggestions of measures and technical solutions for the future disposal ofstormwater.The initial part of the thesis consisted of literature studies on stormwater andstormwater investigations to understand the science.

Klasstorlekens obetydliga inverkan på interaktionen i klassrummet. : - En studie av lärares elevinteraktion med utgångspunkt tagen i arbetsform och klasstorlek.

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka huruvida lärares interaktion med elever under lektionstid påverkas av undervisningsgruppens storlek och tillämpad arbetsform samt om arbetssätt anpassas till klassens storlek. Undersökningen har pågått under en treveckorsperiod och genomförts med observationer och semi-strukturerade kvalitativa intervjuer som analyserats ur ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv och ramfaktorteori. Resultaten visar att lärarna i undersökningen inte gör någon märkbar skillnad i sin interaktion med elever beroende på klassens storlek eller arbetsform. Resultatet visade även att lärarna i studien inte anpassade sin lektionsplanering eller undervisning efter undervisningsgruppens storlek trots sin medvetenhet om detta..
