This is a qualitative research paper, which aims to examine how religion classes are conducted in inner-city and suburban schools. Interviews have been performed with two religion teachers, one at Grindtorp School in Alby and one at the English Gymnasium in Södermalm. There have been performed interviews with eight students, four from each school. The students have a different age, sex and religious beliefs. With these interviews we can get a better understanding how the students of today?s school think about the religious education.

This case study examines the new media presentation system in Alby public library. The aim is to explore if the contemporary Zeitgeist, wich according to the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman, could be described as liquid modernity, has affected how the system was formed. The purpose is to find out how that would affect users and staff of public libaries of the contemporary. Interviews were conducted with the library staff, and plans and documents concerning the media presentation system was examined.The empirical part of this thesis starts with a study of the process that resulted in the new presentation system while the second part examines the system as such. I discovered that both the media presentation system, and the process which preceded it, contained aspects that could be traced to liquid modernity.

Under vår praktiktid 2005 fick vi uppfattningen att kommunala verksamheter har stort intresse av att komma i kontakt med ungdomar eftersom deras åsikter och tänkesätt anses betydelsefulla som underlag vid ungdomssatsningar. Vi ville utifrån detta undersöka om det fanns kommunala kanaler och arenor som kommuner använder för att få fram en dialog med ungdomar. För att besvara vår frågeställning begränsade vi oss till en kommun, Botkyrka.Syftet är att undersöka och beskriva vilka kommunikationsstrategier Botkyrka kommun använder sig av för att skapa en dialog mellan kommun och ungdom.Uppsatsen grundas på en kvalitativ studie baserad på intervjuer gjorda i den utvalda kommunen. Vi har gjort muntliga intervjuer och mailintervjuer med tjänstemän och politiker utifrån tre representativa kommunförvaltningar inom barn- och ungdomsområdet.Resultatet visar att kommunala ungdomskanaler till stor del är strukturellt uppbyggda och medverkar i den samhälliga debatten främst som remissinstans. Skolan är då en central länk mellan kommun och ungdom, eftersom det är här informationen kan spridas och nå den enskilda individen.

The aim of this two years master thesis in Library and Information Science is to examine how librarians and library managers in the three Stockholm suburbs of Alby, Fisksätra and Rinkeby think and reason about the role of public libraries in the integration process. The aim is also to examine whether their perception differ from that of local politicians at the municipal level. The theoretical framework is Marianne Andersson and Dorte Skot-Hanses model for analysis of the local library profile, and Jose Alberto Diaz theory on the integration process. The method used is qualitative interviews. The interviews were recorded and the content was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results of this study show that the library services in the three suburbs, rather than being stipulated by the legal demand for special services towards immigrants, are based on the needs of the local population.

Denna rapport är en utvärdering av projektet Jämlik, jämställd och interkulturell medborgarservice inom Medborgarkontoren i Botkyrka kommun. Projektets mål är att säkerställa att alla medborgarkontoren ger en jämlik medborgarservice. Projektet ska bidra med att ?medvetandegöra medarbetarna? kringjämställdhets- och interkulturella perspektiv. Samhällsvägledarna som arbetar på medborgarkontoren ger kommuninvånarna vägledning och service inom alla kommunens områden.

The purpose of this Master thesis is to examine whether the term elasticity is relevant and functional to apply to public library organisations. Another aim of the thesis is to relate the term elasticity to public library organisations in a network society. Sociologist Manuel Castells provide the theoretical framework on the network society. Three investigations (meant to complement each other) in two Swedish public libraries seek to give answers to these questions.To be able to examine which areas of public library activity are elastic, I make a rough definition of what public library organisations consist of ? nine activity fields are identified using IFLA?s guidelines in combination with Swedish law of public libraries.
