The discussion of the swedish treatment of offenders often revolves round the two contradictions punishment and care. Modern prison is described to be based on values such as humanity, care and respect, although the main task is to protect the society from criminals by keeping them locked up. This study focused on the role of the prison officer with the purpose of understanding how he sees his profesional role in an organisation influenced by punishment and care.Central questions are: How does the prison officer handle his role as caretaker in an organisation where he not only has the right to, but also is obliged to, controle and power his clients? How does the prison officer define his working role and does he find any dificulties in combining these?The research was realized during the months of April and May 2005 through qualitative interviews and conversations with prison officers working in a swedish prison. It also contained a minor fieldstudy in that same prison.The results showed that the principle conflict between punishment and care have an insignificant influence on the daily work of the prison officer.

The aim of this paper has been to examine personas role in the development phase and whether or not some of the criticism that have aroused against personas is valid or not. In this paper we examine the benefits as well as the downsides of working with personas both from a scientific point of view but also from the experiences of a small company located in the north of Sweden. Since personas much like many other powerful tools have pit falls aswell as do's and don'ts this paper looks to clarify what role personas should take aswell as how to minimize risk and maximize the usefulness of personas..

Management research has during the last decades devoted itself to finding new solutions as to how companies in a better and more efficient way can take advantage of the human resources to create added value. This brings up the problem of understanding, making visible and identifying these resources and to be able to influence them. A section of the issue of understanding that has grown stronger lately builds on the role of emotions in transformation of resources. Research into this issue has shown a discrepancy where a common view seldom can be assumed. This leads to the first aim of the essay; to create a theoretical framework for understanding and dealing with the role that emotions play when it comes to creating added value in a company.

Advertisement is something that surrounds us in our everyday life. The two terms marketing and advertising are closely linked together and often considered as the same thing, although they are not. To be able to analyse the term advertisement it is crucial to separate it from the term marketing and observe advertising as a part of the complete marketing. We have two main focuses with this qualitative research and the first one of these is to analyse the changes in advertising when considering style, message and characteristics. The advertiser has a wide range of tools that he or she can use to make commercials follow the trends and changes in society.

In today?s history teaching in Sweden, role-play and historical re-enactment receive littleattention. Even though many students find history as a subject boring and irrelevant, verylittle is done to improve the mode of teaching. My theses is that this could be done bypresenting new ways of teaching and at the same time find a way to make more studentsinterested in history. The main aim is to investigate if there are ways to offer students anexperience of history by carrying out different interactive exercises with a touch of roleplayand historical recreation.

Våren 2007 genomförde jag i samarbete med SEB en surveyundersökning bland de äldre som tagit bankens seniorlån. Surveyundersökningens resultat gjorde att jag önskade fördjupa frågeställningen, varför syftet med denna uppsats varit att få en ingående förståelse om seniorlåntagarens tankegångar om seniorlånet ? såväl inför som efter skuldsättningen. Med fallstudie av kvalitativ ansats har det empiriska materialet baserats på djupintervjuer och teorierna har utgått från empowerment, identitet och människans ekonomiska handlande i det senmoderna samhället.Resultatet av undersökningen visar att seniorlånet ger den äldre positiva möjligheter i form av identitets- och livsstilsbevarande och upplevelser av en större valfrihet, självständighet och ekonomisk trygghet. Samtidigt råder en ambivalens hos en del av de äldre som menar att lånet egentligen inte betytt något för individens vardag ävensom uppstår en upplevelse av en ekonomisk otrygghet när bankens redovisningssätt av seniorlånet uppfattas som ofullständig.

Diabetes är ofta förknippad med livsstilsfaktorer. I många fall kan sjukdomen förebyggas eller behandlas för att minska risken för framtida komplikationer. Distriktssköterskan ska stödja och stärka patienten i sin egenvård utifrån personens livsvärld. Syftet med studien är att belysa patienters upplevelse av att leva med diabetes. Kvalitativ innehållsanalys användes för att analysera materialet.

The purpose with this study was to get a deeper understanding of how the social welfare secretaries experience the meeting with clients.Our main questions were how the social welfare secretaries thinks about their own way to behave in the meeting with clients, which difficulties/obstacles there can be a and which factors they think affect the meeting. What is it that makes the social welfare secretaries experience a meeting as good or less good.Theory used: ?naive theory? and ?theory of communication?. The social welfare secretaries emphasised the importance of respect and clarity in their relations with the clients. By contrast with literature, the hover between power and support was not found difficult.The goal is that the social welfare secretaries and the clients understand each other and that they reach the purpose with the meeting..

Introduction When a child comes into a family changing conditions for the older sibling, who may feel left out. This can be a problem for parents who face new challenges towards the older sibling, which can lead to parents looking for advice and support. Parenting is an activity that strengthens the role of parents and provides information about children's health and social development. Purpose The purpose is to describe the parents' experiences of support in their parental role by participating in the sibling circle. Method Semi-structured focus group interview was conducted and qualitative content analysis was performed.

Denna uppsats handlar om hur IT-baserade hjälpmedel för personer med kognitiva funktionsnedsättningar kan vara en resurs och ett medel för att uppnå större självständighet och delaktighet. Uppsatsen behandlar vilka hinder eller möjligheter det kan finnas för ett IT-baserat hjälpmedel att nå ut till individen. Syftet med studien har varit att ta reda på hur utbredd kunskapen och kännedomen är dels om kognitiva funktionsnedsättningar (som beror på psykosproblematik), dels om IT-baserade hjälpmedel för målgruppen bland tre yrkeskategorier. De yrkeskategorier vi valt för vår studie är: enhetschefer, förskrivare och kostnadsansvariga. Vår studie redogör även för hur olika styrmedel i den socialpolitiska och ekonomiska kontexten påverkar diskursen om hjälpmedel.För insamling av det empiriska materialet valde vi en kvalitativ intervjumetod.

The essay concerns the role of fiction in school. The research questions is; what is ?readable?, what does the authors think of teacher's task to develop students' literacy skills through fiction and how do the authors think of the teachers' task of using fiction in school. The questions give a basis that describes the role of fiction in school today based on the authors' perspective. We have chosen to use the open surveys as a method.

Fattiga kvinnor fokuseras ofta i internationellt utvecklingsarbete då de anses överlägsna män i att generera såväl förbättrad hälsa som ekonomisk utveckling. Feministisk kritik av tidigare insatser som främst sett till kvinnors reproduktiva roll har gjort att empowermentbegreppet idag är centralt: kvinnors villkor ska definieras på gräsrotsnivå, såväl praktiska som sociopolitiska behov ska mötas och kvinnor därmed ges förutsättningar att göra strategiska livsval. Kvalitativa intervjuer med kvinnor i Svenska Getbanken i Uganda genomfördes i syfte att undersöka utvecklingsprojektets inverkan på kvinnornas livssituation, och på deras självuppfattning. Efter tematisk analys visar resultatet bl a att kvinnornas inkomster gynnar familjen, att deras självtillit växt då isolering i hemmet bytts mot socialt stöd och ny kunskap, och att de något ökat sitt inflytande i familjen. En kritik är att kvinnornas totala arbetsbörda ökat, då projektet inte beaktar strukturella frågor, som t ex könsarbetsdelning.

Forming teacher teams is currently the standard way of organizing teachers in Swedish Compulsory Schools. This is the result of a process that started in the 1970s.Traditionally the culture of teaching has been one of isolation. Once the door to the classroom is shut, what happens behind the door is up to the teacher to decide. Over the past thirty years a lot of time has been dedicated to making fundamental changes in the way teachers interact with their colleagues. Today the idea of teachers forming teams is generally accepted but still the core of a Swedish teacher?s job is that of a lone worker.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine reading groups inpublic libraries from a bibliotherapeutic perspective. Inorder to reach this purpose following questions needed to beanswered: What does the discussion in reading groups looklike? What does the reading groups fulfill for theirparticipants? What is the circle leaders? role? The study isbased on the observations of three reading groups and offive interviews of its participants. With the help of CarolineShrodes theory the study shows that there are few signs ofbibliotherapy in the reading groups. But on the other handthey show similarities with other bibliotherapeutic readinggroups, by being a social venue for its participants.

The main purpose of this thesis was to examine how hospital librarians worked with young people at a children?s and young people?s hospital in Sweden. We wanted to see how they promoted their health with culture and cultural means such as book trolleys. We did a case study, and made three qualitative interviews with the hospital librarians. The purpose was also to find out what the hospital librarians thought of young peoples.
