The market for security is one filled with great opportunities. The security services companies are numerous and diverse, the Swedish market is dominated by two large companies: Securitas Bevakning AB and Falck Security AB. In this study we have focused on the bigger of the two, Securitas. This report describes and analysis the security service branch and its surroundings in an involved manner. The target group of the result is mainly people within the security branch.

This master thesis was a continuation of a previous study in the diesel exhaust characterization, which is part of the academical work embedded in the EMIR-1 project. The main objective of this thesis work was to finish the installation and make the proper modifications of the particulate mass measuring system located in one of the engine test cells at KTH, in order to be able to measure the mass of the particles from the exhaust of diesel engines.This experiment requires a diluted flow sample from the exhaust that should be sent to the device that makes possible the measurement of particle mass, called TEOM. In the first stage of this project, the objective was to study and make the proper modifications in the existing KTH diluter because there were several problems to obtain a constant dilution ratio from it during tests.This modifications were made and it resulted in a great improvement in the maximum inlet and outlet flow that this diluter can handle. Therefore another modification is proposed for controlling the inlet exhaust flow so it will be possible to regulate the dilution ratio and make it constant along a wide range of engine loads and speeds.The second and most important stage was to make particulate mass measurements possible by analyzing the frequency signal from the TEOM device. The idea was to obtain the frequency of oscillation from the tapered element in the TEOM, and therefore with the proper correlations, be able to predict the particulate mass concentration in the exhaust flow from the engine.An electrical problem in the TEOM circuit was detected and corrected, so the signal that carries the frequency from the TEOM can be analyzed properly.

Since the 1950s, the development of modern rotation forestry in boreal Fennoscandia has resulted in a severe reduction of older forests, and a high degree of fragmentation among the small patches that remains of old forest. In Sweden, when performing conservation value assessments in order to identify and preserve the remaining forest habitats, the government authorities use to a significant extent a set of indicator species that indicate habitats of high biological conservation value. I nordöstra Lund planeras forskningsbyn Science Village Scandinavia (SVS). Stora avstånd mellan viktiga noder i området ses tillsammans med hårda vindar som utmaningar vid arbetet med att göra SVS attraktivt och besöksvärt under den långa exploateringstiden. På uppdrag av SVS AB och Lunds kommun presenterar detta examensarbete ett förslag för en förplantering av naturlik skogsvegetation på platsen. Ett koncept, där smala vegetationsridåer planteras längs de framtida rörelsestråken i SVS, föreslås i examensarbetet som en strategi för att klimatskydda platsen och samtidigt möjliggöra ett bevarande av vegetation som urban grönska i forskningsbyn. I enlighet med projektets stora hållbarhetsambitioner uttrycker konceptet även målet att presentera möjligheter för att använda avlägsnat växtmaterial som en resurs. Hur kan ett långsiktigt dynamiskt vegetationsbyggande, enligt det ekologiska tillvägagångssättet, förena värden såsom vindskydd, rekreationsvärden och ett ekonomiskt resursuttag, både tidigt och på lång sikt? En kunskapssammanställning görs kring vegetation som vindskydd samt hur ett långsiktigt dynamiskt vegetationsbyggande förhåller sig till smalare ridåplanteringar, ett upplevelsemässigt perspektiv, ett tidsperspektiv samt ett växtmateriellt resursuttag.

Sverige har ett för världen unikt pensionssystem i det att systemet tar hänsyn till den ekonomiska och demografiska utvecklingen samt att det i systemets konstruktion finns ett pensionsreservsystem med fyra separata fonder, AP-fonder. Dessa fyra fonder som även går under benämningen buffertfonder har en viktig funktion att fylla när det gäller den långsiktiga finansieringen och i sin roll att fungera som buffert i tider av stora påfrestningar för pensionssystemet. Denna studie undersöker och analyserar 1-4 AP-fondernas uttalade strategi om att diversifiera sina totalportföljer i syfte att få en mer robust portfölj som bättre kan tåla finansiella påfrestningar. En del i AP-fondernas strategi för att uppnå diversifieringsfördelar är att låta sina fastighetsportföljer växa och ta en större andel av totalportföljen. Studien undersöker vilka konsekvenserna har blivit för fastighetsportföljernas andel av totalportföljen till följd av den uttalade diversifieringsstrategin samt hur utfallet har varit för dessa fastighetsportföljer under 2003-2012.

Emissionskraven på fordon blir allt högre och för att kunna uppnå kraven krävs en allt mer förfinad teknik. Att kunna mäta och verifiera hur bra teknikerna fungerar är en viktig del av utvecklingsarbetet och fungerande mätmetoder är ett måste. Genom att återcirkulera avgaser (EGR ? Exhaust Gas Recirculation) till insuget i en förbränningsmotor sänks andelen syre och förbränningstemperaturen, vilket leder till minskad bildning av kväveoxider. För mycket återcirkulerade avgaser leder till ökade utsläpp av partiklar, för att optimera reduceringen av kväveoxider utan att öka utsläppen av partiklar behöver EGR-gaserna fördelas jämnt mellan cylindrarna.

The extent by which pet owners follow health care instructions falls within the confines of ?compliance?. The success of any given treatment is in part due to the way in which the owner complies with the instructions received from the advising veterinary professional. Studies abroad have found that the preventative dental care sphere suffers from a low compliance rate. Together with the fact that veterinary staff commonly issue advice on preventative dental care, this provided the impetus for undertaking the current research.

Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas (GHG) that contributes to the global warming. One of the largest sources of methane is livestock, preferably ruminants which alone counted for 30% of the total agricultural anthropogenic methane emissions in the year of 2000. The reason to why ruminants are such large contributors of methane are that the gas is produced in the rumen by enteric formation and leaves the animals by belching, exhaling or by the excreta.Diets high in concentrates can result in a lower emission of methane. Also diets with a high content of starch, such as alfalfa-grass, have a methane-decreasing. It is profitable to reduce enteric methane formation since that form of methane is unavoidably lost.

Studien undersökte möjligheten att ersätta en befintlig industrihanddatorlösning med en webbaserad smartphone-applikation genom att ta fram och utvärdera en utvecklingsbas enligt krav och önskemål från en extern uppdragsgivare. Befintliga utvecklingsramverk till smartphones har undersökts med fokus på företagsnära webbaserade applikationer.Den traditionella handdatorn anses föråldrad och har ersatts av moderna smartphones med högre prestanda och bättre funktionalitet. En variant av handdatorn är industrihanddatorn som har en mer robust konstruktion och har försetts med extrautrustning som t.ex. streckkodsläsare. När det gäller plattformsoberoende utveckling till smartphones finns idag en mängd olika alternativ och angreppssätt, dock är det oklart ifall de går att använda för att ersätta en industrihanddator.Arbetet i denna studie har utförts i anslutning till en extern uppdragsgivare med önskemål om att hitta ett alternativ till deras befintliga industrihanddatorlösning.

After emergencies involving chemical spills it is of great importance that correct measures are taken with short notice, both for the security of people and in order to minimize future environmental consequences. The RIB-unit at the Swedish Rescue Services Agency initiated this study, the aim of which is to propose changes to the existing chemical transport calculation tool: Chemical Spill 3.4, included in RIB - Integrated Decision Support for Civil Protection, so that it can be used for decision support as well as in preventive work. A rough estimation of chemical transport in the subsurface is considered being of great importance when making decisions during emergency response operations.The proposition presented in this report is a non site specific chemical transport model which is designed to give a rough estimation of NAPL flow in homogenous isotropic soil shortly after an instantaneous release. The model can be used at two levels; both in situations without access to information on subsurface properties, and with more accuracy in situations with knowledge of the included parameters. For that reason the user can choose among predefined alternatives or assign the parameters a numeric value to increase the quality of the model output.

Approximately 60 million cubic meters of round wood are transported every year with trucks in Sweden and stand for 15 % of all truck transportation in the country. The big amount that is transported results in many haulage companies works in different parts of the country with different conditions to get a good flow on their transports. Today the transport pricing is very general and the payment consists of the unit round wood they are transporting and the distance of the transport. The purpose of this study were, from the freighter and the haulage company?s perspective, try to find ways to change the today applied transport pricing to more differentiated and compare them to historic payment of transportation.

At Volvo Construction Equipment outside Eskilstuna a wide range of heavy equipment machines are developed that are used by a variety of industries worldwide. For the handling and maintenance of these machines a deep knowledge is often required. Volvo CE and their dealer Swecon offer courses for both drivers and technicians that last for 1-2 weeks. Out on the workplaces however, the knowledge from these courses need to be supplemented with information from the machine?s operator and repair manuals.
