Att demokrati är ett mångfacetterat begrepp är en utgångspunkt för denna studie. Tolkningsfriheten av demo-krati är stor ? både i samhället och inom skolväsendet. Ett intresse för studien är att undersöka vad lärare lägger för innebörd i begreppet demokratiska värderingar, men även hur förutsättningar skapas för att demokratiska värden ska genereras, hur demokratiska värden utvärderas samt varför lärarna tycker att demokratiarbetet är viktigt är aspekter som denna studie belyser.Åtta lärare deltog i studien, varav hälften arbetade inom årskurs 6 och resterande hälft i årskurs 9. Det över-gripande syftet är att söka likheter och skillnader mellan lärares syn på demokratiarbetet i dessa årskurser.

The main objective in this study is to examine the pupil?s possibility to affect the upper secondary schools in Stockholm, Sweden. I was once active in the pupil?s council and experienced some hardships, feeling a great dissatisfaction among teachers and principals against pupil?s suggestions and chances to affect their school environment. Försvarsmakten skall vid operationer använda sig av manövertänkandet som enligt doktrinen har sin grund i manöverkrigföring. Den svenska doktrinen avser att ta utgångspunkt i teorin men lämnar fåtalet referenser till detta i sin utformning. Uppsatsen syftar till att studera likheterna mellan William S Lind och Robert Leonhards teorier om manöverkrigföring, och det manövertänkande som finns i Doktrin för gemensamma operationer.

The aim of this essay is to investigate the situation for democracy in China. The study raises two main questions. They are as follows: Are there obstacles to a democratization process in China? and Are there openings when it comes to a gradual change for democratization in China? The theoretical framework consists of Robert A.Dahl´s Polyarchy theory, and in addition , five factors promoting democracy. Denna uppsats är en granskning av Robert Kanes libertarianska teori om viljeansträngningar, hur dessa kan lösa det problem som det så kallade turargumentet utgör för en libertariansk händelse-kausal teori och om hans teori ger en bra redogörelse för fri vilja, framför allt i samband med moraliska konflikter. This Master Thesis aims to study and discuss the occurence of three concepts in some influential cultural policy documents which includes the UNESCO public library manifesto, the Swedish libraries act, the Swedish cultural policy objectives, and a study from the mid nineties which deals with the cultural policy. The questions asked are: -Do the documents mention democracy? In what way? -Do the documents mention the public sphere? In what way? -Do the documents mention information? In what way? -How can we understand the content of the documents through relevant theories about democracy, the public sphere and information? Theories about the information society are used, as well as theories from Jürgen Habermas, Herbert Schiller and Robert Dahl. The way of method is document studies and abduktion, with influences from hermeneutic theory. The analysis deals with the documents through these concepts: democracy, the public sphere and information and puts forward the content, or lack of content, about democracy in the analysed material.

SAMMANDRAGUnder min pågående lärarutbildning i samhällskunskap har området demokrati kommit att fånga mitt intresse och eftersom det är gymnasielärare jag skall bli så intresserar jag mig självklart för gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av demokrati. Detta är vad detta examensarbete kommer att beröra. Hur uppfattar våra gymnasieelever demokratibegreppet och finns det någon skillnad mellan hur tjejer och killar ser på demokrati?Robert Dahl lyfter fram några kriterier som han menar borde vara uppfyllda för att demokrati skall råda men hur väl stämmer dessa och gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av demokrati överens?Jag har gjort min undersökning i två klasser på en gymnasieskola, en med tjejer och en med killar. Metoden jag använt för min undersökning är att jag delat ut en öppen fråga till eleverna att besvara.Jag menar att merparten av eleverna finner det viktigast att få vara med att påverka/bestämma och att få vara med att rösta.

This essay concerns the issue of democracy and judicial review. The main focus is on the justification of both a positive and a negative attitude towards judicial review, and the values these justifications are based on. The analysis is made by textual analysis of four authors with different opinions of the subject matter: Robert Dahl and Jeremy Waldron who has a negative attitude towards judicial review, and Erwin Chemerinsky and Ronald Dworkin who are positive about it. In the analysis an analytic frame is used which consists of different dimensions and aspects of the problem of democracy and judicial review. The study shows that there are important differences in democratic values between a positive and a negative justification of judicial review.
