Title: Experiences of physical activity in a flat country Regular physical activity provides many chronic diseases and is an important contributor to health promotion. According to Swedish goals for public health, community planning ought to provide opportunities for exercise in all groups of the population and exercise in daily life should be uncomplicated, even in rural areas. The purpose of this study was to explore how individuals living in a flat country experienced their opportunities for exercise on a regular basis. Four semi-structured interviews were carried out with a phenomenological approach and for the analysis a phenomenological-hermeneutic method was used, resulting in two main themes and nine sub themes. The first main theme ?The reciprocal relation between physical activity and the landscape? showed that the informants experienced that they had good opportunities in the landscape for physical activity, it was easy to exercise on a regular basis, provided there was motivation.

The increasing road traffic in Sweden will require investments in the infrastructure that the tax withdrawal of today will not allow according to a new government report, SOU 2006:33. An existing willingness to pay for those investments has therefore become an alternative to increases in taxation to be able to cover the costs. A proposal to let the willingness to pay, alternatively increases in taxation that act proportional, decide how a cost is distributed can be said to be related, but not fully correspond, with different theories of justice described by Robert Nozick and John Rawls. It can therefore be interesting to see how the two different theories of justice are edified and how they distribute a joint cost. The aim of the first part of the thesis is to present and criticize Rawls' and Nozick's theories of justice in a common formulated economic model.

Essingeleden in Stockholm is the most heavily congested road segment in Scandinavia and it is ofgreat importance for as well traffic within the city as for transit traffic. The capacity of Essingeledenand Norra Länken is not enough to accommodate all traffic. At times it is not moving at all, whichresults in long queues and an augmented risk of accidents. Consequently measures for increasing thecapacity on E4/E20, which will reduce congestion and the risk of accidents, are implemented byTrafikverket. In fall 2012 one lane of three at Pampas will be closed and so will the exit fromEssingeleden to Norra Stationsgatan, called Parkeringsbron.

Solenergi i stadsmiljö - En fallstudie om att implementera solenergi i Norra Djurgårdsstaden

Som en följd av Stockholms stads satsning mot att bli en fossilbränslefri stad senast år 2050 har Norra Djurgårdsstaden utvecklats som ett miljöprofilområde. Detta innebär att området ska bli en världsledande stadsdel inom miljöutveckling. En del i denna utveckling omfattar att fastigheterna i Norra Djurgårdsstaden ska minimera sin energianvändning och till viss del även bli självförsörjande av elektricitet. Fastigheternas tak ska optimeras för solceller gällande orientering, lutning och storlek. Denna rapport omfattar en fallstudie där de fem fastigheter som är belägna i kvarter Hornslandet i Norra Djurgårdsstadens byggetapp Norra 2 undersöks och utvärderas.Syftet med rapporten är att undersöka möjligheterna för en implementering av solceller på fastigheterna i kvarter Hornslandet samt utvärdera hur lönsamt det skulle vara för fastigheternas byggherre, Stockholmshem, att fastigheterna är delvis självförsörjande.

I dagens samhälle ställs allt högre krav på att energieffektivisera byggnader, därmed ställs även krav på att energieffektivisera befintliga byggnaderna. Ett av Sveriges nationella mål är att energianvändningen inom bebyggelse halveras till år 2050 jämfört med 1995. Examensarbete har skrivit för EKG-projekt, en vägledning för fastighetsägarna som deltar i projektet vid eventuella fönsterbyten. Denna uppsatts belyser viktiga områden och idéer inom modern fönsterkonstruktion, med tillhörande undersökningar samt en marknadsundersökning för fönster och dess kostnader. Detta examensarbete innefattar även vilka tankar man bör ha i åtanke vid bestämt fönsterbyte ur den arkitektoniska synvinkel samt en energisimulering för ett rum, där fönstret byts ut mot en lågenergi fönster.

Passivhus - En undersökning om varför det inte byggs fler passivhus i Sverige

This thesis tries to clarify why more houses such as passive houses is not built and at the same time the differences is described with the conventional construction as a starting point. Sweden has set environmental objectives to reduce energy consumption in buildings by 50 percent by the year 2050 compared to 1995. The passivehouse concept could have a significant role, particularly in the reconstruction of buildings with high energy consumption. For sustainable building the passivehouse technology is an economically viable concept while benefiting the environment. Initially an introduction is given of the background to the problem, purpose and objective of the thesis.

Äldre kvinnors upplevelse av att ha urininkontinens

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att undersöka hur äldre kvinnor upplever urininkontinens (UI). UI är vanlig hos äldre kvinnor. Antalet äldre inkontinenta kvinnor väntas öka väsentligt fram till 2050. Det är känt att UI-symtomen brukar förvärras med stigande ålder. Fast UI kan vara ett allvarligt problem tycks många kvinnor tolerera och acceptera det förvånansvärt väl.

Invandrarungdomar utan sysselsättning : en studie av arbetslösa invandrarungdomars attityd gentemot sig själva och den svenska arbetsmarknaden

The purpose of this study was to increase knowledge about what the lives of the unemployed youth of immigrant background looks like, and what the views of the unemployed young people are about work and employment. The study is a qualitative study where the empirical material is based on interviews with seven unemployed immigrant youth between the ages of 19 and 25 years. A study where the central questions was to explore how the informants' living conditions and identity are affected by being unemployed. The other issues aimed at how informants background affected their ability to enter the labour market, and the job expectations the informants had about the future and the Swedish labour market. Empirin have been analyzed with regard to methodology tool based theory, as well as theoretical starting points, such as social capital, formal and informal channels, ethnicity and stigma theory.

The moose is a keystone species in the boreal forest ecosystem, but the dense Swedish population do cause some serious problems. From a forestry perspective, their browsing on young Scot pine (Pinus sylvestris) causes extensive losses of revenue. Adjusting the cleaning along roadsides of low trafficked forest roads can favour the production of plant species preferred by the moose. This is thought to redirect the moose´s browsing to the roadsides and thereby decrease the damages on commercial forest.The aim of this study has been to present a first evaluation of the vegetation in roadsides, one year after wildlife-adapted roadside clearing has been undertaken. In the wildlifeadapted clearing operation, the roadside was widened by removal of some trees in the forest edge whereupon a complementary clearing with a conventional chain flail was conducted.

The Swedish road transport sector relies almost completely on fossil fuels. In 2007, as much as 96 percent of the total sales of fuels was made up of petrol and diesel, while at the same time the share of total emissions of greenhouse gases in Sweden that came from road transports amounted to close to 30 per cent. Sweden is by no means worse off than any other European country in these respects. In order to address the questions of high oil dependence and CO2 emissions the European Commission has proposed a reinforcement of the legislative framework, with a 10 percent minimum for the market share of biofuels in 2020. Furthermore, the proposed target is binding for the member states, unlike the current voluntary target of 5.75 percent by 2010. More than doubling the usage of biofuels in only a bit more than a decade will most likely not be possible without policy interventions.

The Swedish government has a goal of achieving a fossil-free vehicle fleet in 2030. Heavy transport constitutes a significant part of Sweden's transportation sector and the vehicles are driven almost exclusively by fossil fuels. Siemens has developed eHighway, a concept for electric road systems enabling electrification of trucks, in order to reduce the environmental impact of heavy transports. This study aims to investigate the potential that eHighway has on transporting iron ore from the mine of Mertainen to a processing plant in Svappavaara. Electrified trucks are compared with conventional trucks, and diesel and electric trains.The evaluation was made with respect to energy consumption, environmental impact, and cost.

Solenergi i Stockholm

Stockholm har inför 2050 satt upp ett mål om att bli koldioxidfritt. I strävan mot detta söker man utvinna energi med förnybara metoder och ett alternativ för elproduktion inom stadskärnan skulle kunna vara solceller. Solceller är en teknik som genom sammanfogande av halvledarmaterial och den fotoelektrisk effekt genererar el ur solinstrålning.Avhandlingen studerar dagens solceller, med verkningsgrader uppemot 20 % och deras potential att täcka den mindre del av Stockholms elbehov som idag härstammar från fossila bränslen. Genom att se till en uppskattad befintlig takyta i Stockholms kommun och jämföra den med ytan som baserat på solcellernas potential behövs för att täcka behovet, konstateras att endast en liten del av detta kommer kunna täckas. För att solceller skall vara aktuella inom storskalig elproduktion, krävs att de är ekonomiskt lönsamma och att det i dagens läge är praktiskt genomförbart att montera dem inom stadskärnan.

Energiförbättrande åtgärder på befintliga flerbostadshus : -En lönsamhetsanalys

The EU Council adopted in 2007, environmental and energy goals with the aim of them must be met by 2050. This, in combination with those of the Swedish government 15 enacted environmental goals is supposed to lead the way for the Swedish environmental work.This report has examined measures in properties in the Swedish Cooperative Housing Society (SKB) stocks.The report discusses a range of measures that might be appropriate to apply on the properties to make them more energy efficient.One of the measures discussed, the vent whose primary purpose is to create a good indoor environment for the residents but is also where the most energy is lost.Another measure discussed is insulation of the building envelope on the estate to make it more energy efficient. To put extra insulation on the building envelope is important because of the large amount of energy that is lost through the walls, ceilings and floors.Future actions that may be implemented is individual billing of heating and hot water. This system has been used in European countries since the 70's and today the EU wants to increase the own individuals control over their electricity costs. This has led to a discussion whether to implement the system in Sweden or not.However, there are a number of equitable measures to be sorted out before the system can be used in any great scale.Finally, it is important to remember that environmental measures should be the primary and the pursuit of cost reductions the secondary otherwise you risk the environmental work to be counterproductive..
