This report examines the industrialization of a newly developed household machine on behalf of Technogarden Engineering Resources in Karlstad, Sweden. The report is a part of the final course in the Bachelor Program in Mechanical Engineering at Karlstad University and takes place in spring 2014.An innovator, an investor and a engineering consultant firm have through collaboration developed a new type of gruel machine. The product is in its final stage of construction and is planned to be manufactured in a production located in Sweden, autumn of 2014.To compete against today?s trend in outsourcing manufacturing to low cost countries for better profitability, the industrialization of the gruel machine must be done with a minimum amount of resources in order to become successful, which also describes the problem of this study. Using pre-study material in form of Lean production literature, visiting a successful production site and gathering data from involved engineers a specification was developed which describes what this industrialization must achieve and which requests can be accomplished.

Nanofiltration is a proper way of preparation of drinking water. The process has a lot in common with reverse osmosis where a semipermeable membrane is used to separate a pure water flow from the remaining water. A pilot plant was used to ensure that nanofiltration is a suitable technology for a specific waterworks station in Glemmingebro, Ystad. The purpose was also to find out if a pH-adjustment is needed for feed water in a possible full scale plant.  In this case nanofiltration is used mainly to remove sulphate and calcium since the raw water contains concentrations of these substances which exceed the limits for potable water. It is important to receive a high recovery (RC), otherwise the deliviery of water won?t be high enough.

The purpose of this study is to examine senior high school students? strategies and reasoning when solving mathematical problems and make a review of the concept problem solving. The purpose is also to examine if the students? choice of strategies are influenced when their mathematical knowledge is improved.The study was conducted in two science classes at a senior high school. All the students were asked to individually solve two mathematical problems.

The object under investigation in this Master?s thesis is students? information use in connection to Bachelor thesis writing. The purpose of the study is to increase understanding of why nursing students and product engineering design students are using information in such different ways despite their comparable starting point. The empirical material consists of 18 student theses and a document comprising directives for thesis writing that are analysed from three different theoretical perspectives. A citation analysis of all 18 theses is carried out.

Syfte ? Syftet med examensarbetet är att minimera eller helt eliminera den utböjning som uppstår i Husqvarnas trimmer 536 LiR från handtag ner till motor och trimmerhuvud då en 5 kilos vikt hängs i handtaget.Metod ? En konceptstudie har utförts på Husqvarnas trimmer 536 LiR för att undersöka och utvärdera hur problemet med trimmern ser ut i dagsläget och därifrån ta fram olika koncept för att minimera utböjningen. Arbetet har följt en Stage-Gate produktutvecklingsprocess med sju steg från att skriva kravspecifikation till att ta fram och testa prototyper. Koncept genererades med metoderna brainstorming och Reverse engineering och sållades sedan med Pughs beslutsmatris. Finita elementmetoden användes för att utvärdera produkten och för att analysera vissa koncept.

Detta examensarbete är resultatet av en utredning av produktionsbegränsningar och produktutveckling på Volvo Construction Equipment AB Component Division i Eskilstuna. Produktionssystemet på Volvo CE genomgår en stor förändring då det går från att fungera som en funktionell verkstad till att bli flödesinriktat. Detta gör att helt nya krav ställs på produkternas konstruktion och utformning. Det är nu inte möjligt att anpassa maskinerna eller operationsföljderna efter artikeln i samma utsträckning som tidigare, man kommer att vara tvungen att anpassa artiklarna efter produktionslinan. Därav har en litteraturstudie inom Concurrent Engineering gjorts som belyser hur man bör jobba som organisation och vilka verktyg man har till sitt förfogande, för att utveckla produktionsvänliga produkter.

Abstract:In previous experiments with the bacterium Ideonella dechloratans a probable sequencecoding for a cytochrome c protein (cyt c) was observed, the sequence is assumed to have afunction in the bacterial respiratory chain. Detection attempts have been made to try to findthis protein, but have not succeeded. The purpose of this project is to detect the expressionof mRNA associated with the cytochrome c. And if it is detected, it will also be investigated ifthere is any difference in expression of the mRNA due to aerobic or anaerobic environment.Total RNA was purified from cultures grown under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. cDNAwas then synthesized using reverse transcriptase and subsequently amplified with thespecific primers in a qRT-PCR.qRT-PCR testing showed a distinct amplification of primer product, confirming that I.dechloratans expresses mRNA coding for the cyt c protein.

Med ett ökat antal multinationella företag med anställda från hela världen ökar också antalet barn som under sin uppväxt flyttar runt i olika länder, third culture kids. Uppsatsen syftar till och vill belysa hur det kan vara att växa upp i flera olika länder och hur man ser på sin egen kulturella identitetsutveckling. Identitetsutveckling är något alla går igenom. Forskning visar att om man under uppväxten ofta byter kulturellt sammanhang kan det en extra utmaning speciellt när det gäller att utveckla sin kulturella identitet.Fyra personer intervjuades om deras uppväxt och upplevelser som TKC.  Uppsatsen presenterar deras berättelser och tillsammans med tidigare forskning syftar de till att ge en bild av hur det kan vara att växa upp i främmande kulturer men också hur den kulturella identiteten ifrågasätts när man som ung vuxen återvänder till sitt passland.

Bakgrund: Produktutvecklingsprocessen har på senare tid kommit att ses som en strategisk aktivitet som är avgörande för företagets överlevnad eftersom produktens utförande och kostnader till stor del fastställs innan tillverkning påbörjas. ?Target Costing? har sitt ursprung från Toyota i Japan och är en metod för strategisk kostnadsstyrning som har vuxit fram för att tidigt styra kostnader. Metoden används för att integrera kostnadsstyrning i produktutvecklingsprocessen i samstämmighet med kundkrav och företagets egna vinstkrav.Syfte: Syftet med studien är att beskriva och analysera hur ?Target Costing? används i produktutvecklingsprocessen på Volvo Construction Equipment i Braås för att ge kunskap till nya potentiella användare.

The environment has become an important part in people´s lives, and in today´s society stakeholders demands have increased upon companies when it comes to sustainability reports. How these sustainability reports are designed depends on whom it?s for, laws and regulations, and the companies own norms and values. The purpose of sustainability reports is to measure, monitor and compare a company´s enviromental impact. It?s not only about integrating economics, but also enviromental and social standards together to get both financial and competitive advantages.Sustainable Value method is a new model and is the first real method that can be used to evaluate a company´s resources, both financial, social and enviromental to a sustainable value.This model is used to compare the resource efficiency between companies.In this thesis, a documentary study with an experimental approach has been made.Sustainability reports from six selected companies (in the engineering and forestry sector) have been investigated with respect to their accounting for carbon dioxide, and an experiment using the method ?Sustainable Value Approach? was subsequently performed.

This bachelor thesis is intended to point out differences within the supervisors? role and contribute in making the role more attractive. At present the information about how the supervisors? perspective varies on the supervisors? role and the introduction to it depending on work experience and education is unknown. Further it was investigated why the supervisors? role is seen as an entrance to the building industry and how to develop the role to encourage the supervisors to stay longer within it.In the collection of data we have been interviewing supervisors and studying literature.

RISKfree ? ett system för riskhantering inom programvaruprojektI dagens IT-centrerade värld sker utvecklingen av hårdvara och programvara i en rasande takt. Om ett företag skall ha möjlighet att vara konkurrenskraftigt i denna utvecklingstakt, krävs det snabba och effektiva metoder i utvecklingsprocessen. Dessa krav från omvärlden på nya och mer komplexa produkter och tjänster innebär ofta nya och större risker för ett utvecklingsprojekt; både ekonomiska som tidsmässiga.Analyser av programvaruprojekt som har misslyckats visar att många av deras problem och risker kunde ha undvikits eller åtminstone drastiskt reducerats med hjälp av riskhantering. Oftast är det en optimistisk entusiasm över projektet som överskuggar viktiga varningssignaler om risker och problem enligt B.W.

To get a picture of how the flow works, a visit at the company and email contact have been done with Clas Ohlson to get relevant informationToday Clas Ohlson has a big flow of articles to the stores without larger variations in the demand, with the exception of autumn, which is when customers start shopping for Christmas. Clas Ohlson?s articles are placed on a pallet and are wrapped into plastic-film for protection and to make sure that nothing will be stolen.

En billig och robust motor av stirlingtyp har konstruerats för användning i villor. Som energikälla används de heta rökgaserna från förbränningen i husets panna. Motorn driver en generator i permanent drift under den kalla delen av året då värme- och energiförbrukningen är som störst i vårt land. Under den varma årstiden finns den tillgänglig som reservkraftverk. Tanken är att stirlingmotorns värmare ska placeras i en villapanna för att ta till vara exergipotentialen hos dess höga temperatur.

Målet med detta arbete är att undersöka och analysera en byggnad från miljonprogrammet i Helsingborg göra gällande energiberäkningar. Dessa beräkningar ska mynna ut i olika förslag till hur man skulle kunna styra upp en renovering av dessa byggnader så att de uppfyller de nya energikraven samt skapa en mer tilltalande estetisk byggnad..
