Vid hundträning används många olika inlärningstekniker och syftet med denna uppsats är att klargöra hur olika metoder påverkar hundens välbefinnande och träningens effektivitet. Studier har visat att hundar som tränas med bestraffningar har högre förekomst av problembeteenden jämfört med hundar som bara tränas med belöningsbaserade metoder. Användande av bestraffningar innebär en risk för tränaren eftersom hunden kan svara aggressivt vid en tillsägelse. Hundägare själva anser att både belöningar och bestraffningar har positiv effekt. Inget tyder dock på att bestraffningar skulle vara mer framgångsrika än belöningar, snarare tvärt om då man i studier sett högst effektivitet vid användande av positiv förstärkning.

Bakgrund: Hysterektomi är ett vanligt förekommande ingrepp som kan påverka kvinnans sexualitet. Sexualitet är en viktig del av varje människa och innefattar allt från könsroller till reproduktion. Då det kan upplevas som ett tabubelagt ämne inom hälso- och sjukvård behövs mer kunskap för att kunna ge en bättre omvårdnad. Syfte: Syftet var att belysa kvinnors upplevelser av sexualitet efter hysterektomi, med tonvikt på kvinnor i fertil ålder. Metod: Litteraturöversikt med 16 vetenskapliga artiklar från databaserna Cinahl, PubMed och PsykINFO varav 13 kvantitativa, en kvalitativ och två med mixad design.

Studiens syfte är att identifiera olika hälsodiskurser i läromedel för idrott och hälsa, som riktas mot högstadiet och gymnasiet, som unga män respektive unga kvinnor socialiseras in i genom deras möte med läromedlen.Med en diskursanlytisk utgångspunkt och metod för att förklara bilders meningserbjudande i deras litterära kontext analyseras bilder och den litterära kontexten bilderna existerar i, från fem olika läromedel till idrott och hälsa. Det meningserbjudande bilderna innehåller problematiseras genom Foucaults teori om makt, och socialisationsteorins teori om socialisation och diskursernas reproduktion.Studien kommer fram till att hälsosamma kvinnor och män definieras olika. Den hälsosamma mannen är vältränad och muskulös. Han tränar framför allt styrka i överkroppen och uthållighet och träningen innehåller manliga element som fart och kraft. Den ohälsosamma mannen är inaktiv och misslyckas därmed med att vara en man.Den hälsosamma kvinnan är smal och vältränad.

The aim with the present study was to investigate whether there is a difference between the course participants who find their way to the dog-school respective the Swedish Working Dog Association. The study have focused on four issues; why the course participants have chosen the dog-school respectively the Swedish Working Dog Association, why the participants bought their dog, if the participants are satisfied with their dogs and if it is more likely that they turn to the dog-school?s than to the Swedish Working Dog Association with their first dog? Course participants from two dog-schools and from two of the local clubs belonging to the Swedish Working Dog Association in Skaraborg, Sweden, answered a questionnaire. In total 85 answers were collected, including 60 from the course participants from Swedish Working Dog Associations and 25 from the dog school?s course.

Studiens syfte är att identifiera och diskutera meningserbjudande i form av institutionella förutsättningar för meningsskapande i idrott och hälsa. Genom en kritisk diskursanalys identifieras och prövas Quennerstedts ämnesdiskurser i idrott och hälsa. Sedan problematiseras eventuella skillnader mellan denna studiens och Quennerstedts källor.Två olika källor används för att uppfylla studiens syfte och svara på frågeställningarna. Den ena källan består av lärares synpunkter på ett utkast till kursplanerna i Lgr11 från hösten 2009. Den andra källan innefattar färdiga kursplanen för idrott och hälsa i Lgr11, samt dess kommentarmaterial.

Bakgrund: Demenssjukdomar kan drabba vem som helst. Antalet insjuknade förväntas öka världen över inom 50 år. Då medicinska behandlingsmöjligheter är få anses god omvårdnad och förbättrat välbefinnande vara bästa behandlingen. Vårdhunden har blivit ett begrepp inom vården av människor med demens då tidigare forskning visat att vårdhunden på ett positivt sätt bidragit med fysiska och psykiska förbättringar samt ökat välbefinnande hos människor med demens.Syfte: Syftet med studien var att belysa hur vårdpersonalen upplever att en vårdhund påverkar välbefinnandet hos de boende på ett demensboende.Metod: Studien är en sammanställning av intervjuer med informanter utvalda med snöbollsmetoden. Genom att jämföra likheter och skillnader mellan intervjuerna utvecklades fem olika kategorier.Resultat: Resultatet visade att en vårdhund upplevdes frambringa mycket glädje och en förbättrad social samvaro för de boende på demensboendet.

Pyometra is a common and life threatening disease of intact bitches. The disease is caused by a hormonal influence on the uterus in combination with a bacterial infection. The most common treatment is ovariohysterectomy, but several medical options are available to maintain fertility or avoid surgery and anaesthesia. Drugs that can be used for medical treatment are for example progesterone-receptor antagonists, prostaglandins and dopamine agonist. The present study focused on treatment with the progesterone-receptor antagonistaglepristone in combination with antimicrobial therapy.

Syftet med undersökningen var att beskriva några elevers upplevelser av grundskoletiden samt att på basis av skolans styrdokument och olika teoretiska perspektiv på studiens resultat få en djupare förståelse med avseende på fem problemområden: stöd och hjälp, elevinflytande, mobbning, elevernas syn på praktiska respektive teoretiska ämnen samt stress. Undersökningen genomfördes med hjälp av intervjuer med ungdomar från tre Norrbottenskommuner, ett år efter avslutad grundskola. Studien utgår från ett hermeneutiskt perspektiv med ett litet inslag av kritisk tolkning. Avsikten var att hitta det unika i varje persons upplevelse. Resultatet visade att eleverna hade många olika upplevelser.

Background: Pet therapy has existed as a concept since 1964 when the American child psychologist Boris Levinson coined the term. Nowadays Animal Assisted Activity (AAA) and Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) are both recognized concepts, and with progressed research the science of pet therapy increases.Purpose: To summate the most recent science in pet therapy (therapy dog) research with focus on physical, psychical, and social effects.Methods: Literature study/review with descriptive design, research on 21 articles published from year 2003 and onward. Articles used in the study were chosen through beforehand decided criteria, subject to quality rating, and summated in an overview. The main results were summated and presented in similarities and differences.Results: The main result of the summation was that important results could be measured in each of the three fields of research. Physical/physiological effects: pain relief, differentiated results on vital signs, and increased activity.

The aim of the present literature study was to define and describe the area ?compliance in veterinary medicine? (i.e. the way treatment recommendations are being performed) and discuss the factors that influence the level of compliance. Based on the findings, a model that intended to increase compliance in orthopedic postoperative rehabilitation of dogs was designed. In the daily work as a veterinary nurse it is essential that one provides the best possible care to the animals from the beginning to the end of the treatment.

Hypoadrenocorticism (Addison´s disease) results from insufficient production of glucocorticoid and mineralcorticoid hormones from the adrenal glands. The disease is often difficult to diagnose in an early stage because of the multitude of associated vague clinical signs. The standard poodle is one breed presupposed to be at higher risk of developing the disease. The purpose of this study was to give a review of canine hypoadrenocorticism as described in literature, and to characterise Addison´s disease in a population of standard poodles in Sweden. Statistics on incidenceproportions by breed for hypoadrenocorticism from the database of the Swedish insurance company Agria are presented.

Knowledge in reproduction in the Swedish lynx (Lynx lynx) is important forseveral reasons. Situated on top of the food chain, lynxes may be at risk of beingexposed to environmental toxins that could have adverse effect on reproduction.The population of lynxes is today managed by restricted hunting which demandsknowledge about both the lynxes numbers and their reproduction. In addition,lynxes may function as indicators of climate change for instance if their season ofheat would be earlier or prolonged due to a warmer climate. Today?s knowledgein reproduction in Swedish lynx is mainly based on information gathered fromradio collared animals.

This study shows how two different schools use dogs as a method of education. The purpose was to find out what kind of pedagogical thoughts my informants have about children' slearning in their connection with dogs, and in which way the interaction between the children and the dogs could affect the learning ability. I also wanted to find out what kind of possibilities and restrictions the dogs could give to the education according to my informants but also to find out how the projects were financed. To be able to answer these questions I put together a qualitative study, I had four interviews with people that were involved in the projects in one way or the other. To analyse the empirical material I looked up different theories about teaching, communication, interaction and motivation.My results showed that both schools have applied the method of ?teaching dogs? as a form of resource for students with special needs.

Due to progresses constantly being made in veterinary medicine combined with increasing knowledge in pet owners, the dogs of today gets older than before. The population of geriatric dogs is there for constantly growing, which makes them an important group of patients on small animal clinics and hospitals. As dogs age, so do their interior organs. Geriatric dogs are prone to several diseases and in this text the author has decided to focus on three of the most common: Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CDS), cancer and osteoarthritis (AO). All of these illnesses are incurable in dogs, but it is important to remember that they are still treatable.

Bakgrund: Det finns ungefär 25 000 stomiopererade i Sverige. Anledningarna till varför stomi erhålls är olika där kolorektalcancer är den vanligaste bakomliggande sjukdomen. De förändringar som stomin medför innebär ibland annat en påverkan på livkvalitet, kroppsbild men även sexualitet. Det sistnämnda området, sexualitet, är ett ämne som utifrån ett omvårdnadsperspektiv ofta blir åsidosatt av sjuksköterskan. Sexualitet har genom åren främst handlat om reproduktion men fokus ligger numera på den sexuella hälsan där även andra problemområden ingår, där bland fysiska funktionsnedsättningar.
