SammanfattningIntensiva fallstudier av dagspressens Representationer av humanitära aktioner Biafra 1968 och på Afrikas horn 2011 möjliggör en jämförelse i hur skildringen av det svältande Afrika förändrats över tid. Uppsatsens syfte har, med denna komparativa ansats, fokuserat på hur den utrikesjournalistiska diskursen skapar Oss och de Andra. Detta har undersökts med följande frågeställningar:Hur framställs de behövande och de som hjälper?Legitimeras humanitära aktioner? I så fall: hur?Vad har detta med utrikesjournalistikens diskursiva praktiker att göra?Hur kan detta kopplas till ideologier, maktrelationer och kulturella värderingar i den sociokulturella kontexten?Med postkolonial teori har utgångspunkten varit att undersöka hur kolonialismen som ideologi, som en del av det svenska, kollektiva minnet, inverkar på journalistiken. Den empiri som ligger till grund för analyserna består sammanlagt av fyra publikationer från Dagens Nyheter som, med sin ledande ställning, representerar dagspressen.

The idea to this bachelor thesis was born after carefully following the coverage of Johan Persson and Martin Schibbye in Swedish media during their imprisonment in Ethiopia from June 2011 to September 2012. Based on our interest we designed two questions to answer throughout the thesis. These are:(1) How are Johan Persson and Martin Schibbye portrayed as journalists in the discussion about them that has taken place in Swedish media?(2) How is the journalistic profession described in the discussion about Johan Persson and Martin Schibbye in Swedish media? To answer these questions we decided to analyse texts that can be defined as the genre of opinion journalism, which all came from Swedish printed media. We have chosen 16 texts to analyse which show the variety of ways to write about Persson and Schibbye in the chosen genre during the chosen period of time. Opinion journalism is what newspapers use to attract readers, as they want to supplement the news coverage with comments and analysis from ?experts?. Persson and Schibbye were imprisoned in Ethiopia in June of 2011, and weren?t released until 15 months later, in September of 2012. To analyse our material we have amongst others used theories regarding social constructionism, Representation, discourse, the journalistic identity and the journalistic ideals that exist in Swedish society.

Objective: The aim of the study is to describe pupils' understanding of the mathematical concept of function. How do pupils define the concept of function? What images of the concept of function evoke when they solve tasks, which involve identifying and constructing functions?Theory: A student's thinking about a mathematical concept depends on more than just the formal definition of the concept; therefore Tall and Vinner introduce the term concept image to describe the role cognitive structures play when students learn about concepts. The cognitive structure includes all mental images, associated properties and processes that an individual associates with a given concept. According to Sfard, an individual's understanding of mathematical concepts may have different character: an operational conception, where a concept is conceived as a process and a structural conception, where the given concept is conceived as an object, that is, as a whole.Method: 16 pupils at the Science Program at two different upper secondary schools inSweden answered a questionnaire on the mathematical concept of function.

I dagens Europa är stora löneskillnader mellan kvinnor och män samt låg Representation av kvinnor på höga befattningar fortfarande ett stort problem. Mot bakgrund av detta har EU framlagt ett lagförslag om kvotering till börsbolagens styrelser. Debatten om jämställdhet är livlig och högaktuell. Parallellt med detta agerar näringslivet i en kamp om kompetensen där jämställdhet anses vara en viktig komponent för att vara en attraktiv arbetsgivare. Då studien antar ett nyinstitutionellt perspektiv har antagandet varit att organisationerna anpassar sig till omgivande krav för att vinna social legitimitet och således att jämställdhet är en viktig legitimitetsskapande faktor i denna process.

En aktiv databas reagerar automatiskt på händelser som genereras internt eller externt i databasen. Det aktiva beteendet i ett databassystem kan ses som övervaknings-funktioner för databasen. Det innebär att kritiska system som stridsledning, sjukvård och kärnkraftverk har stor förtjänst i att använda aktiva databaser. En passiv databas, vilket är det vanligaste idag använder sig av polling och embedded code för att åstadkomma aktiviteter som finns i den aktiva databasen. Dessa lösningar genererar dock redundans, överbelastning av systemet och tidvis inkorrekt information.Vid ett systemutvecklingsarbete används oftast en eller ett antal bestämda metoder som tillför riktlinjer och tekniker till utförandet av arbetet.

I samhället har Sverigedemokraterna (SD) växt starkare de senaste åren. Om vi gick till val idag skulle SD komma in i riksdagen. Nyligen publicerade Aftonbladet en politisk artikel skriven av Jimmie Åkesson, ordförande för SD, där muslimerna utpekades som Sveriges största hot. Är detta ett bevis på vilka attityder som är på frammarsch i Sverige? Vår studie undersöker vilka attityder om muslimer och i förlängningen mot andra kulturer, några högstadieelever har på två skolor med en mindre mångkulturell prägel i en kommun med hög mångkulturell karaktär.

Fokus i uppsatsen är begreppet mångfald och svenska Amnesty. Utgångspunkten är dels det oproblematiserade och positiva talet om mångfald som kommer till uttryck i den offentliga debatten i Sverige och dels det faktum att den svenska sektionen av Amnesty International nyligen tagit beslut om att införa ett"mångfaldsperspektiv"i syfte att genomsyra all organisation och verksamhet.Syftet med uppsatsen är formulerat i två steg: som ett första steg analyserar jag uppfattningar och föreställningar om Amnesty som organisation, och om dess medlemmar och som ett andra steg gör jag - med särskilt fokus på etniska och kulturella aspekter - en analys av hur mångfald förstås i intervjuerna och hur denna förståelse relateras till svenska Amnesty som organisation. Kvalitativa intervjuer med sex aktiva medlemmar inom svenska Amnesty utgör grunden för analysen. Ett socialkonstruktionistiskt inspirerat synsätt används som teoretisk referensram och begrepp som etnicitet, kultur, mångkulturalism och kategorisering är centrala och används som teoretiska verktyg i analysen.De huvudsakliga slutsatserna av analysen är att den bild av Amnesty, och dess medlemmar, som kommer till uttryck i intervjuerna är nästintill uteslutande positiv, vilket får till följd att en diskussion om utanförskap och diskriminering i rörelsen inte ges något direkt utrymme. Mångfald förstås i mångt och mycket i termer av en Representation av olika"kategorier"av människor såsom "män", "kvinnor", "invandrare", "icke-akademiker".

IT is often seen as a solution to many problems concerning effectiveness in organizations. Information systems within the healthcare sector is often viewed as medical devices rather than just systems or services. These medical devices are thoroughly regulated by laws, standards and certifications. In this study I participated in an innovative project that aimed to bring new life and use to the old fashioned patient journal by giving it a visual Representation through the use of an avatar. I aimed to study the effects of regulators connected with the patient journal as a source of information for the innovative project.

Uppsatsens övergripande syfte är att utröna huruvida ett specifikt samtida populärkulturellt verk ? den amerikanska filmen John Q (2002) ? i Representationen av sina karaktärer befäster en kolonialistisk diskurs eller om dessa gestaltas på ett sätt som skiljer sig från denna diskurs Representationsmönster. Med kolonialistisk diskurs avser jag här en diskurs som fundamentalt gror ur de idémönster som var verksamma under den egentliga kolonialismen. Utifrån ett poststrukturalistiskt perspektiv med teoretiska analysinstrument från diskursteori och postkolonialism analyseras kvalitativt filmens karaktärer som indelas i fyra subjektspositioner; icke-vit man/kvinna och vit man/kvinna. Dessas identiteter undersöks i analysen utifrån fem huvudsakliga aspekter; 1/ funktion/roll i narrativet, 2/ personlighet och icke-fysiska egenskaper, 3/ agerande och förehavanden, 4/ utseende och slutligen 5/ eventuellt tydligt intertextuellt förhållande till den skådespelare som representerar honom/henne.Analysen visar att filmen John Q i upprättandet av en gynnad dikotomi mellan människa och system konstruerar karaktärernas identiteter på ett sätt som nästintill fullständigt följer den kolonialistiska diskursens Representationsmönster.

The purpose of this study is to compare the contents, editorials and front covers of Sweden?s oldest girl?s magazine Veckorevyn during two different years, in which the magazine had two very different chief editors.In the year 2000, Emma Hamberg got the job as editor-in-chief for Veckorevyn, with a vision of changing the way the magazine represented young females. She wanted to add a more feminist viewpoint to the magazine, since she felt that Veckorevyn didn?t live up to its claim of being ?a girl?s best friend?. Six years later, the famous Swedish fashion editor Ebba von Sydow became editor-in-chief for Veckorevyn, with the intention of making the magazine better, smarter and more fun for young girls.

A growing need to strengthen ones position on the market, even as a city in competition with other cities, has resulted in an increasing number of municipalities developing brand platforms. When the city of Umeå developed their platform, they identified decision makers and investors as one of four important target groups.The aim of this study is to explore the portrayed image of the city of Umeå in two Swedish trade journals which addresses the specific target group decition makers and investors in both public and private sector. The aim is also to compare the image of Umeå in the two papers, to the ambition of the municipality, expressed in the brand platform.In order to make the observations as firmly established as possible, the method of the study is a combination of a quantitative content analysis and a qualitative text analysis. The study draws on the theories of Eli Avraham and Philip Kotler, concerning how to improve city images and how to market a specific city among others. The study shows that the city of Umeå in large extent is portrayed in accordance to the ambition which the municipality expressed in the brand platform.Umeå is displayed as an expanding city.

Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka om normkritisk pedagogik kan vara en väg mot en skola för alla och i så fall, på vilket sätt? Teori: Den kritiska teorin har valts som övergripande ansats, där tolkningen bör få människor att tänka till och tänka om, men även teorier om sociala Representationer, intersektionalitet och queer har använts. Sociala Representationer är gemensamma föreställningar om världen som skapas genom kommunikation och interaktion. Intersektionalitet innebär att ha ett helhetsperspektiv på olika maktordningar och strukturer, t ex kön och etnicitet, som individer är utsatta för och queerteori handlar om att ifrågasätta kategorier och normer, framförallt heteronormen. De begrepp som används är normer, normkritisk pedagogik och en skola för alla.

Malmö has often been described as a segregated city, with relatively low democratic participation and high poverty and alienation. Behind this kind of statements we often find a material reality, with unequal distribution of assets and potentials that needs to be taken into consideration for political action. At the same time this categorisation of people into different groups can take stigmatising effects and result in increased inequality.I find the theoretical basis for my thesis in Lefebvre?s writings on ?the right to the city?, that shortly means that all inhabitants of a city have the right to take active part in the constantly ongoing process of producing and reproducing the city ? on all levels, from a hands-on everyday life level to a more abstract political level.With an interdisciplinary approach, where the right to the city is discussed in relation to citizenship, presence, Representation and public space, I try to understand the connections between democracy, participation, justice and equality. These discussions are then applied to examples from Malmö; both publically initiated projects and individual physical markings in the city.

We wanted to know how the subject HIV/AIDS was handled in the Indian newspaper The Hindu, which is written in English, during a period of 16 days (30 October-14 November) in 2005 compared to the corresponding period during 2007. Because we liked to study what kind of differences there were in the reporting between these two years. In addition we also wanted to learn how people living with HIV and AIDS are represented in pictures and text. To find out this was the purpose with this investigation.The study is made from the theory of stigma, semiotics and from a professional model of the normative theory. The articles about HIV/AIDS were quantitatively analyzed with help of a schedule of codes and we performed a qualitative analysis on several articles, four from 2005 and four from 2007.
