This is a thesis written for a master's degree at the Computer Vision Laboratory, University of Linköping. An abstract outer product is defined and used as a bridge to reach 2:nd and 4:th order tensors. Some applications of these in geometric analysis of range data are discussed and illustrated. In idealized setups, simple geometric objects, like spheres or polygons, are successfully detected. Finally, the generalization to n:th order tensors for storing and analysing geometric information is discussed..

This qualitative study examines how emergency people are framed in Swedish evening-, and local newspapers during the forest fire in Va?stmanland, Sweden 2014. The study also includes if there is any difference between the framing due to the location of the newspaper. The study is based on qualitative text analysis. In the pilot study for a biography, some of the methodological and/or theoretical problems facing the anthropologist and biographer are discussed.The empirical section is based on a number of interviews I made with my grandmother over the period 1995-2001. I have come across inconsistencies in the material when rendering a historical event. Furthermore, the material makes me reflect on how the biographer or anthropologist is able to handle or interpret that she and the subject/informant has a different attitude to metaphors and how the metaphors can change over time, space and interpretation.The essay begins with a summary review of some of the central social and behavioural scientific theories that can be related to the individual and the biography.There then follows an in-depth discussion based on Paul Ricoeur's philosophy that says that your identity is created in relation to how you look at your history and future at the present time. Identities are created in an interaction between the field we are currently in, the cultural capital that includes gestures, mannerisms, symbols, our language and the area of interpretation the field allows in the culture. Consequently, the biography is also a Representation that is created in time and space and between the subject and the person rendering the subject.The biography or ethnography is transient and is of necessity a historiography.Ricoeur talks about the living metaphor.

Syftet med denna studie är att, genom en textanalys, undersöka hur en lärobok ispanska kulturellt representerar den spansktalande världen och om deninnehållsmässigt lever upp till kursplanens krav när det gäller de kulturellaaspekterna. Det visar sig att Spanien och Latinamerika behandlasmonokulturellt och att den innehållsmässiga balansen vad gäller kultur mellanSpanien och Latinamerika är svag i läroboken och att den inte ger utrymme fördiskussion och reflektion, vilket gör att ett stort ansvar läggs på läraren för attleva upp till kursplanens krav..

AbstractThe aim of this essay is to analyse the effects of women's Representation on actual political outcome. Quantitative method and materials are used to study the consequences of women's political participation in Swedish municipals.Many theorists think that women have special interests, different from men?s, which is also the belief of this essay. This political interest is here defined as freedom from discrimination and violence against women. In order to see if this interest is present in local policy it is transformed into variables concerning whether the local authority has an equality plan, supports a local shelter for abused women and by how much money it supports women's shelter.

AbstractIn this essay I am examining the Representation of popmusic with particular focus on gender and identity in two youth magazines called Kamratposten and Julia. Using the method of Norman Faircloughs critical discourse analysis I have studied ten interviews with popmusicians from each magazine based on the theorys of Representations, discourses within popularmusic and queer theory. The intention with this study was to examine how popularmusic is represented in youth magazines. If the magazines were reproducing femininity and masculinity in the interviews with the musicians, and in the Representation of popmusic in the magazines. And also if there were any differences and similarities between the magazines regarding the Representation of popmusicians.The analysis lead to the conclusions that how popmusic is represented in the magazines depends on what the magazines wan´t to represent on the basis of their target groups and ideologies.

Detta för att belysa egenskaper i omslagsbilderna vilka kunde visa hur män och kvinnor representerades och vilka ideal rörande fysiska attribut de uppvisade. Detta var uppsatsens syfte och frågeställningarna beträffade hur Representationen av könen såg ut, om det fanns några tydliga skillnader och hur könsrollerna såg ut då båda könen figurerade på ett omslag. Frågeställningarna rörde även vilka ideal för män och kvinnor om fysiska attribut, om några, som porträtterades på omslagsbilderna och om, och då i så fall hur, de avvek från idealen. Materialet bestod av sex omslagsbilder från Vanity Fairs utgåvor under 2011.

ABSTRACTClimate Change in the Daily PressAn Analysis of the Representation Swedish Daily Papers Convey Through Their Editorials About the Climate ChangeThe purpose of this essay is partly to present how swedish daily papers describe the climate change through their editorials and partly to examine if their politcal affiliation effect their point of view about the climate change. The search incluedes editorials from 6 daily papers (Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter, Expressen, Göteborgstidningen, Nerikes Allehanda and Svenska Dagbladet) from the year 1997 to the year 2003. Three discourses and the order between them, found by a former analysis (Adger and others, 2001) of the international politics of climate change, are used as types of ideal in a form of an analysis of idea.The analysis reveals that the swedish daily papers don?t give the problem any major attention. Only a total of 65 editorials about the climate change could be found even though the papers produces several thousands during the period.
