Syftet med denna rapport är att påvisa vilka förändringar som kan ske när man byter version av ett operativsystem. Vi vill visa vilka förbättringar samt vilka problem som förändringarna kan medföra i en ny version. För att en ny version av vilken produkt eller programvara som helst ska ges ut bör användbarheten ha förbättrats. I denna rapport har vi undersökt vilka förändringar som skett mellan Windows 2000 Professional och Windows XP Professional, som är Microsofts två senaste versioner av deras operativsystem. Vi har utfört denna undersökning från ett användbarhetsperspektiv, där vi fastställer om dessa förändringar har ökat eller minskat användbarheten.

This paper is finishing part of the two-year master programme in Industrial Engineering and Management.Initially there was an inquiry of studying the queue-times that Fläkt Woods uses when they break down internal working orders. These times were assumed to be too generalised and does not apply to the actual value of the queue-times which generates incorrect data and delivery delays. During the work of this paper it has been established that it is not the queue-times that is the biggest problem. The problem is the shop floor control and the lack of manufacturing the right products at the right time. Therefore an analysis of the production planning process was made to bring forward the real problems.

Method: To do the observation an econometric regression analysis has been made. The variables tested are consumption, real GDP, stock- and real estate market prices. In the model three different time periods have been investigated to facilitate the origin of different patterns.

The aim of this thesis is to get an idea of how service companies set their prices. The method used was a case study approach, which was conducted at three real estate companies. The study showed that when setting their prices, the main aspect is their own costs. However, we have found that several other aspects play a big role when setting prices on services in real estate business such as individual customer behaviour and market competition. We have also found that the real estate companies charge very similar prices.

This is something that is clearer in the fashion business where the consumers always are looking for news at lower costs. Analysts at Venture Capital firms of today experience troubles when they try to explicate the intrinsic value, which they see in their investments. The traditional valuation models do not account the value of flexibility and analysts have to Through studies at a Venture Capital firm in Sweden, I have analyzed if Real Option analysis could help them to explicate the intrinsic value that they see.With the help from a decision tree, analysts can identify the hidden option values embedded in the investment. I find that real options can be a helpful tool for Venture Capital companiesto clarify the intrinsic values that they see in their investments. Real option analysis is however not a competitor to traditional value methods, it is rather a compliment..

Den tilltagande internationella globaliseringen gör att företag ständigt möter ökande konkurrens. På grund av den ökade globala konkurrensen kan företag inte längre bara sätta försäljningspriser som täcker deras kostnader för produkten, utan i dagens läge måste de även se till vad de tänkta kunderna faktiskt är villiga att betala. Det finns olika metoder för att prissätta produkter, traditionell självkostnadskalkylering och det nya synsättet target costing. Det finns författare som anser att traditionell självkostnads¬kalkylering tillhör förfluten tid i och med den globala konkurrensen. Många författare menar att det istället är target costing som i dagens läge bör tillämpas, och då framförallt av masstillverkande företag.

   Did the mass media report in a different way about the real estate tax before the Swedish national election 2006 than they did after the election? If there were differences, what could be the cause?This study aims to answer these questions by using a quantitative analysis of articles about the real estate tax published in the Dagens Nyheter (DN), the biggest morning daily. The summer before the election, the ?Alliance?, (the non-socialist coalition, launched an election promise to abolish the real estate tax. Instead they planned to introduce a low community charge.The Alliance won the election and formed a government to implement their election promise. The analysis was made on all the published articles in DN that covered the real estate tax issue. In total there were 43 such articles. These where all published between the launch of the campaign promise until the electionday and a month before the proposal was launched 19/9 2007, until the proposal was implemented in 2008. The study results in three interesting conclusions.

The method to determine theusage time is intended to define how measurements and calculations are to berealized along with influencing factors to keep in mind. With support from thismethod the intention is to gain control on how well the established usage time canbe expected to cohere with the real value and what affects the value.The study is done specifically for hearing protectors with battery powered built inelectronically functions. Svenskt Rockarkiv is an organization located in Hultsfred, Sweden. Its goal is to collect and document the history of Swedish rock music. The archive contains several types of documentation, such as audio recordings, photographs, posters, video recordings and books representing Swedish rock music history. In order to store information about the audio recordings in the archive, Svenskt Rockarkiv uses a SQL Server 2000 database and a client application written in Microsoft.NET C# and Windows Forms. The purpose of this degree project is to audit the database and windows client, since the organization has needs of new functionality.

Purpose: During the last years Real Options have been established in many areas of the day-to-day business. Recent literature also tries to address Supply Chain problems with option theory, since an efficient Supply Chain increasingly gains in importance as a significant competitive advantage. This thesis tries to answer the question, if Real Options can mitigate the costs induced by the Bullwhip Effect as one of the major problems in Supply Chains. Methodology: The authors of the thesis used a deductive approach. Based on a theoretical model utilizing Real Option contracts and under the usage of a randomly created dataset the influence of the Bullwhip Effect on the company?s business and financial structure is examined and subsequently analyzed.

The work was carried out on Termisk Systemteknisk?s office in Linköping. The aim was to create a computer system with infrared camera technology for quality control and temperature monitoring of manufacturing processes in industry. The system should be configurable such that it can be used on several different issues, including those where the real-time analysis of camera images is required.The developed system is based on an existing framework, Panola, to deal with measurement results and images in a database. The framework is built for the system continually check for new data , and the task was to create a foundation upon which to build systems that use the framework, but fully or partially utilize direct calls .

In this report I have made various comparisons between different client solutions; a standard client solution (PC-server), to use as a comparison and look at various differences in costs against the other client solutions that I have compared, which is Windows Thin PC, Dell Wyse, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and FSData terminal server/thin clients. All these solutions require a form of server to work against, which also the standard solution uses, but the main difference is that most of the data and computing power is on the server instead of the client.Window Thin PC, Dell Wyse, Red Hat EV and FSData all use some kind of thin client as hardware. Some of the main differences is that Windows Thin PC can be installed on almost any hardware. Dell Wyse is a special hardware group from Dell, that uses its own proprietary software, and Red Hat EV which is based on linux, is the cheapest option where the only cost is for support. FSData terminal server/thin client use as the name suggest a terminal server and a form of thin client to connect to it, the solution essentially means that your rent the complete hardware from FSData.The comparisons are made with the view of different scenarios based of the number of clients, where costs and licenses, as well as time spent on installation, upgrades, monitoring and managing are some of the main points raised..

AbstractBuying real estate property is a complex process for the uninitiated. Apotential buyer has to keep track of laws and regulations affecting theproperty. The purchase of a property is for many also the largest deal made inlife and because of that it is especially important to make sure everything getsdone correctly.A real estate property purchase contains a number of different elements, suchas engineering data and inspection of the property and documentation to makesure that the signing of contracts and clauses are done according to the laws ofthat country. These purchase process steps are ordinary people not familiarwith, and therefore they hire the help of a real estate agent.Buying a property abroad complicates things because the countries have theirown laws and rules that make them different from the Swedish rules which theSwedish real estate buyers are accustomed to.Our thesis is about exploring if a Swedish buyer knows the buying process inforeign countries, or whether they rely on the broker they hired. The countrieswe have chosen to examine and compare against Sweden is Spain, Thailandand Turkey.Our questions will be answered by interviewing buyers about how they feelabout their buying process, if they encountered any problems before, duringor after their purchase, and if they are happy with their purchase after theevent.Our study shows that the buying processes in all four countries are generallyequal to each other.

A numerical simulation case involving space plasma and the evolution of instabilities that generates very fast electrons, i.e. approximately at half of the speed of light, is used as a test bed for scientific visualisation techniques. A visualisation system was developed to provide interactive real-time animation and visualisation of the simulation results. The work focuses on two themes and the integration of them. The first theme is the storage and management of the large data sets produced.
