The aim of these two studies was to investigate the possible physiological, behavioural and emotional changes that appear after human-horse interactions and also to find an explanation to why they occur. One aspect that is discussed is whether the wellbeing of humans can be coupled to interacting with horses and of how the animals respond to the interaction. The first study was performed on 9 horses and their owners, both parts being subjects to registrations during 4 different interaction treatments. The second study was performed on 6 horses with registrations only being performed on the horses during 2 different treatments. Nine horses underwent 3 different treatments all performed by their owners (H = stroking of the horses forehead, B = brushing and M = stimulation of the withers) in addition to a control round (K). Each treatment lasted for 4 minutes but observations were performed until after 45 minutes from start.

Background Research concerning footing and its contribution to injuries has been conducted primarily in racing Thoroughbreds. Studies in UK and Japan indicate that some specific factors could be responsible for an increase in performance-associated injuries. Researchers in Sweden have performed studies on Standardbred trotters. More research is needed to be done on equestrian sports since requirements on footing are not exactly the same in riding and trotting horses. The lack of scientific evidence on the construction of equestrian surfaces has lead to anecdotal validation of designs.

Gyms are populated by more and more people and there is an increased interest in wellness and health. However, there is a downside to the culture that people choose to step into. Exercise can go too far and take unhealthy directions. The purpose of this study is to examine how norms are created in the gym culture and how unhealthy behaviour is reproduced inside the walls of the gym. We have also done research about how a local gym identifies and handles deviant behaviour such as the use of doping and eating disorders.

The aim of this thesis is to identify and analyse the antagonism between conservation and development which occurs in historical towns.The base of the study is theories in destination development and cultural heritage tourism in historical towns as well as the consequences expressed in these theories concerning conservation and development. The standpoint was that an empiric study needed to complement the theory. This filed study took place in Dubrovnik in Croatia. The thesis identifies the antagonism between conservation and development based on the theoretical research. Moreover the study adds a perspective to the research through the identification of further dimensions of this antagonism.

As an increasingly rationalized forestry and agriculture have human interference in the form of tradition, grazing and use declined. There is a strong link between biodiversity and disturbance of the landscape. In sandy soils many insects and plants require exposed sand to survive while the disorder may contribute to seed dispersal in the woodlands. On behalf of O-Ringen Skåne 2014, a study of the interference from orienteering in sandy soil and the forest during competitions conducted. The aim is to clarify the interference of which orienteering runners contributes, through to inventory presence before and after the competitions in the bottom and field layer in three locations.

In this thesis the construction of identity within the EU is discussed. A thesis problem in three dimensions is used to explain the purpose of the construction, its realization and the consequences of such identity. These aspects show the complexity of the problems related to identity construction on a structural level.By using a post-modern and a social constructivist theoretical approach identity is presented as socially constructed by discourse. The theory of discourse makes it possible to analyze the development of an identity forming discourse within the EU and its status today.With an approach inspired by critical theory, we use discourse analysis as a methodological tool to illustrate the ideas that govern discourse, and in what way it is related to the social reality.The analysis states that the purpose of identity constructing is the striving for legitimacy. Without identification, the legitimacy is threatened.

About 10 % of the adult women population in Sweden are treated annually for urinary tract infections. The increasing bacterial resistance towards antibiotics is classified by WHO (World Health Organization) and ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) as one of the greatest treats for human health in a global perspective. To find alternatives scientists are studying the possibility to use probiotics to reduce the frequency of recurring urinary tract infections. This literature study examines five randomized double blinded placebo controlled studies where different strains of Lactobacillus have been used as a prophylactic to women suffering from recurrent urinary tract infections and bacterial vaginosis. Overall the studies do not display enough promising results to recommend the use of probiotics as a prophylax or cure..

Studien undersöker i vilken omfattning barn medverkar och kommer till tals i nyhetsprogrammet Rapport i SVT.  Både kvalitativ och kvantitativ innehållsanalys har använts och materialet som studerats är Rapports huvudsändning klockan 19:30 under tre veckor i februari 1993 respektive 2013.Syftet är att få syn på vilka förändringar som har skett under 20 år, kommer barnen till tals oftare än tidigare och vilka ämnen får de uttala sig om? Studien ramas in av teorier som sociala ansvarsteorin, medielogik, representation och de svenska spelreglerna för press radio och tv.  Resultatet visar att barn får större utrymme i nyheterna 2013. Vanligast både 1993 och 2013 är att barn kommer till tals i nyheter som handlar om utbildning, i materialet från 2013 kan man se en ökning av barn som kommer till tals om brott/våld/katastrofer.

Den här uppsatsen undersöker de svenska journalisternas förhållningssätt till sociala mediers rapportering om revolutionen i Egypten. Fokus i denna undersökning ligger i journalisternas källkritik, användning och beroende av sociala medierna som Twitter, Facebook, blogg med flera i sitt journalistiska arbete. Intervjumetoden tillämpades i denna undersökning och intervjuer med tio svenska journalister genomfördes. De medier som inkluderas i undersökningen är, Sveriges Radio Ekot, SR International, SVT, TV4, Tidningarnas Tellegramsbyrå, Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Expressen och Aftonbladet. Samtliga intervjuer presenteras och svaren användes sedan i analysen.

Pairs trading is a relatively new trading strategy, the strategy has only been used during a couple of decades. A study made on the American stock market has shown that the strat-egy has generated a positive result. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate if pairs trad-ing has been able to create a positive result on the Swedish stock market during the time period of 1995-2004.The data required for this thesis was collected from Stockholm stock exchange and is ad-justed for splits and issues.The pairs trading strategy involves two stages ? identification of pairs and trading signals. The pairs were identified during a period of 12 months.

The purpose of our master thesis was to investigate how a multicultural society is reflected in childrens books picture books, books for children and young people, published in 2002. We found this issue interesting since children of today experience a change in society, where people of many ethnicities, cultures and religions live together to a greater extent than before. Since children in their everyday life are exposed to these different cultures, we think they also should be exposed to them in the books they read. In order to enhance an understanding of why such books are important to children, especially immigrant children, we have in our thesis included a passage with childrens linguistic development, identification and stereotypes. Other passages concern libraries and their roles in a multicultural society.

In the year of 2001, China launched their new international marketing strategy Going Global. As an effect of this, the frequency of Chinese establishments in Sweden has increased heavily in the last ten years. One of the larger Chinese establishments in Sweden happened in 2003, by the telecom company Huawei. This essay illustrates the obstacles that a Chinese company faces when setting up their business on the Swedish market. Previous studies have focused on Swedish establishment abroad.

Uppsatsen syftar till att skapa en ökad förståelse i hur dofter påverkar konsumenters köpbeteende med forskningsfrågan: på vilket sätt kan dofter påverka konsumentens köpbeteende och hur kan doftens betydelse appliceras på Kotlers teori? För att kunna besvara våra frågor har Kotlers teori konsumentens köpbeteende använts. Teorin består av fyra olika faktorer: kulturella, sociala, personliga och psykologiska. Som analysverktyg har forskningsartiklar från internationellt erkända undersökningar används som tagit upp doftens inverkan på konsumenternas köpbeteende. TV-reklam, radio och tidningar har visat sig vara väldigt dyra och kanske inte fullt så framgångsrika som man tidigare trott.
