This thesis presents a system which has been implemented to satisfy a need in theresearch on how speech planning interacts with syntactic and prosodic structure inspontaneous speech. The long-term purpose of the research is to provide models forautomatic parsing of spontaneous speech and for psycholinguistical modelling of speechproduction. Identification of inhalation pauses is an important step in the developmentof automatic methods for spontaneous speech parsing.Identification of inhalation pauses is considered to be a keyword-spotting speechrecognition problem. Hybrid HMM(Hidden Markov Models)/ANN(Artificial NeuralNetworks) approach is applied to this problem. Method gets 90,8% in Recall, 66,4% inPrecision and 76,7% in F-score.

This thesis is based on a conversation about gender identity and the pronoun hen in an episode of the radio programme Tendens on Swedish public radio, P1. The participants of the conversation are a scholar and a journalist/show-host. The goal of the research has been to analyse how the conversation is constructed from its context and which topics that occur. The goal of the research has also been to analyse how the participants of the conversation position themselves and how the conversation composes and re-composes norms and values regarding gender identity in society. Critical discourse analysis, completed by Conversation analysis has been the theoretical and methodological approach.

This paper replicates a test performed by Burgstahler and Dichev (1997), which identifies a kink in the frequency distribution of earnings for companies listed on American stock exchanges. Their claim, that the kink is evidence of earnings management, has however been dismissed as a methodical consequence. To address this concern, this paper not only replicates the test in general, but also performs tests on a split sample, where founding family-owned companies are separated from the others, since earlier research has shown that founding family ownership is correlated with less earnings management. The results are in line with the findings of Burgstahler and Dichev, with a significant kink in the frequency distribution in the general test. The findings also show that the significance of the kink increases in the non-family-owned sample, while it disappears in the family-owned sample.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to study how Catalans´ identifications, with respect to their city (Barcelona), their region (Catalonia), their country (Spain) and Europe, are related to each other. Furthermore it deals with whether they use cultural or civic notations when they speak of their identification with the different territorial levels.The thesis is based on a qualitative method with interviews with ten Catalans living in Barcelona, aged from 18 to 58. The result showed that Catalans´ identifications with different territorial levels vary in how they relate to each other. This variation can be classified using three models, namely; ?The Russian doll model? which implies that the identities are ranked hierarchically, ?cross-cutting? that is people can identify themselves with the different levels depending on various situations, and also ?The marble cake model? which means that the different identities are so intertwined that they cannot be separated.

Forskarna verkar vara lika omedvetna om denna genre som de flesta andra man frågar. Va, finns det porr i radio? är den vanligaste frågan jag fått när jag blivit tillfrågad att berätta om vad mitt c-arbete handlar.

Syftet med detta examensarbete har varit att försöka få förståelse för ljudillustrationers betydelse i radiopresentationer genom att se hur olika presentationer tas emot av en publik. Det jag ville ta reda på var vilken sorts presentation ? en med ljudillustrationer eller en utan ? som uppskattas av flest inom den yngre delen av P3:s målgrupp, samt vilken av presentationerna som mest lockar till vidare lyssning.Studien består av en gestaltande del, där jag har gjort om presentationer från radioprogrammet P3 Populär, och en vetenskaplig del i form av en kvantitativ undersökning där gymnasielever har lyssnat på en presentation för att sedan svara på en enkät. Studien har haft sin utgångspunkt i retoriska modeller för hur ett meddelande bör utformas, och i olika metoder för användandet av ljud i radio.Undersökningen visar att personer som lyssnat på en presentation med ljudliga illustrationer tyckte att den var intressant, underhållande, trolig att fånga deras uppmärksamhet och vilja till att lyssna vidare i större utsträckning än personer som lyssnat på en presentation utan ljudillustrationer.

Syftet ? Syftet med denna uppsats är att studera hur MTG Radio och TV4 har valt att använda sig av grön marknadsföring. Vidare undersöker vi om företagen har ett helhetsperspektiv med den gröna marknadsföringen, det vill säga om de tydligt arbetar med miljöfrågorna både externt och internt.Design/metodologi/tillvägagångssätt ? Efter en kort historisk bakgrund redogör vi för den teoretiska bakgrunden till hur företag bör utforma den gröna marknadsföringen så att den effektivt når ut till kunder. Vi studerar sedan två företag, MTG Radio och TV4, för att se hur dessa arbetar med grön marknadsföring.

This two years master's thesis in Library and Information science, examines how the implementation of new technical equipment can affect how staff in public libraries organize their work and activities in the library. One Swedish public library in specific is the subject of research in this thesis, which has been anonymized as Kvarntuna city library. The study takes place in the beginning of the implementation of RFID-technology in the library. RFID, which stands for Radio frequency IDentification, is supposed to make the handling with different types of media in the library more efficient and in connection with the implementation one wants to reorganize work and activities in the library to make it even more efficient and also create a modern library.The thesis' method is qualitative interviews with six members of the staff. The theoretical framework of the thesis is a sociocultural perspective, especially inspiered by Roger Säljö, a Swedish professor in pedagogical psychology.

Radio är en av många plattformar och arenor där offentlig debatt kan äga rum. Och just som medium når radio ut till en stor mängd människor. Med den bredden kommer även ett stort ansvar. Ett ansvar, inte minst för kanalerna på Sveriges radio, för att förse medborgarna med korrekt information så att publiken kan skapa egna uppfattningar om samhälleliga fenomen och problem. Med detta i ryggen tycker vi att det är både intressant och relevant att kika närmare på Sveriges radio, och specifikt på programmet P1 Debatt.

In healthy dogs, heart rate fluctuates during the day. Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects the autonomic nervous system´s regulation of the cardiovascular unit. Heart rate variability shows the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system, also called sympathovagal balance. Heart rate variability can be measured by time domain - and frequency domain analysis. In a time domain analysis you study the beat-to-beat-interval (RR-interval) in an electrocardiogram (ECG), while a frequency domain analysis can be used to determine the size of the variability.

The use of balanced scorecards have spread explosively throughout the world during the last decade. This management tool have become very common in a vide spread variety of organisations on all continents. Many balanced scorecard fails though and scorecard theorists often blame the identification- and implementation process as they claim that these lay the foundation for the use of the tool. As my literature study shows, academic research on the area is rare. Particularly the effect on the implementation process from organisational dynamics and organisational structures needs further research.

Huvudsyftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka varför människor i ålderskategorin 35-49 år inte lyssnar på radiokanalen P4 Västmaland, en av Sveriges Radios 26 st P4 kanaler. Den andra punkten som analyserats är, varför P4 Västmanlands publik lyssnar på kanalen. Med hjälp av fokusgruppsintervjuer via sociala media Facebook undersöks 15 personer uppdelade i två fokusgrupper: P4s lyssnare och icke lyssnare. Det gemensamma för båda grupperna är radiolyssnande som intresse och ålderskategorin. Tillsammans har grupperna genererat ca 234 facebook-inlägg, som utgör grundmaterialet till denna studie.

Logistik är mer än transporter mellan olika platser. Stor del av ett företag och dess logistik kretsar kring de interna logistikfunktioner och hur de som företag ständigt jobbar för att förebygga flaskhalsar. En lagervariant som används för att skapa ett högre värde i en kedja är ett så kallat cross-dockinglager. I ett sådant förs ständigt ett arbete med att effektivisera processer med hjälp av olika tekniker och strategier. En teknik för att öka omsättningshastigheten i ett lager genom snabbare identifiering och spårning av gods som hanteras är Radio frequency IDentification (RFID).Syftet med studien är att belysa de ständigt återkommande problemområden som uppstår i ett cross-dockinglager samt hur en RFID-lösning skulle kunna stödja dess verksamhet.
