Aggression between laboratory mice is a common problem and can result in welfare issues such as mice hurting or killing each other and also stress. Swedish laws and regulations clearly states that mice must be housed with a companion due to their natural social structure. Many studies have investigated the effect off enrichment, group size, cage size and other potential changes in in their environment on the occurrence of aggression. Even with these changes aggression can exist and therefore a new solution was tested in this paper. The proposed solution was to house an intact mouse with a castrated one and thus fulfill laws and regulations while still maintaining the physiology of one of the mice for the purpose of medical experiments.

Bakgrund:I Läroplan för grundskolan, förskoleklassen och fritidshemmet 2011 lyfts begreppet historiemedvetande fram ännu tydligare än vad det gjordes i Lpo 94. I Lgr 11 står det fastslaget att eleverna ska ges möjlighet att utveckla kunskaper om historiska sammanhang och sitt historiemedvetande, eftersom ett historiskt perspektiv ger individen ett redskap att förstå och förändra samtiden. Forskning visar att elever uppvisar ett bristande historiemedvetande, vilket kan bero på många olika orsaker. Till exempel kan det bero på historieundervisningens upplägg eller elevernas förmåga att hantera stora tal. Mot bakgrund av detta vill vi med vår studie undersöka elevers historiemedvetande för att se hur resultatet från vår studie förhåller sig till tidigare forskning inom ämnet.Syfte:Syftet är att undersöka elevers historiemedvetande.Metod:Den metod som har använts i vår studie är fokusgruppsintervjuer med intervjuguide och checklista.Resultat:Genom vår undersökning och analys av insamlad data konstaterade vi att eleverna uppvisade ett relativt bra historiemedvetande jämfört med resultat från tidigare forskning.

Syftet med vår studie är att ge en bild av hur högstadielärare anger att de arbetar mot kränkande behandling mellan elever i skolan och belysa om likabehandlingsplanen har någon betydelse i detta arbete. Undersökningen baserades dels på kvantitativ metod med enkäter och dels på kvalitativ metod med intervjuer. En enkät delades ut till 80 lärare på två högstadieskolor varav 69 av dessa svarade. Alla lärare uppgav att de fått ingripa i situationer med kränkande behandling. I enkäterna kom det fram att merparten av alla lärare kände att deras arbete mot kränkande behandling har en positiv effekt för det psykosociala klimatet.

With the prospect of future construction on the Skutskär Pulp Mill property, Stora Enso Fine Paper has initiated an investigation of soil contaminants and a risk assessment of these contaminants. A soil and groundwater investigation has therefore been conducted on an open area of about 16 000 square meters, situated between the current wood room and digester house. To be able to integrate this study into an investigation for the whole industrial property, the study has been carried out as a phase 2 study according to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency?s Methods of Inventories of Contaminated sites (MIFO).The site investigation has involved soil and groundwater sampling, together with the analysis of heavy metals and organic contaminants. The degree of hazard posed by the contaminants, the level of contamination, the potential for migration of the contaminants, as well as the degree to which protection of human health and the environment is required in the area, have been weighed together for an overall risk assessment of the area with regard to human health and the environment.The investigated area was built up by filling in the coastal waters.

This two years master's thesis examines the experience of children who read to a dog. The theoretical framework is inspired by sociocultural theory developed by Roger Säljö and the concept carnival inspired by Mikhail Bakhtin. The sociocultural theory has been chosen because it emphasizes the role of practice, instruments and communication in learning and the concept carnival has been chosen to analyze the experience of reading to a dog.The method used is qualitative interview and observation. A total of eight interviews and two observations when children read to a dog have been collected. One interview is with a teacher and seven interviews are with the children (six children participated and one child was interviewed twice).

This study examines the in-game encyclopaedia Codex as it appears within the videogame Mass Effect. The purpose of this study is to analyse the Codex with emphasis on how the reading process is affected by the videogame medium. In this regard the study seeks to uncover what characterises the Codex as a fictional encyclopaedia, what it entails and how it interacts with the rest of the game. The theoretical basis of this study is derived from a combination of the writings of Wolfgang Iser concerning the process of reading, Jesper Juul's writings on the relationship between games and narratives, and the concept of intermediality as discussed by Hans Lund and Jørgen Bruhn.      This study is based on a close examination of the PC and Playstation 3 versions of the videogame Mass Effect, created by Bioware, with particular emphasis placed on the Codex. Mass Effect is a science fiction third-person shooter and RPG set in a future where mankind has begun interacting with aliens civilizations and colonising new planets.

In this essay I examine the auto fictive self in Jeanette Wintersons Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit. I do this through a close reading of the novel using Mieke Bals narratological terms;narrator, story, fabula, time and order. These narratological terms have been merged together with central themes of the book. I look at the readers understanding of the novel, the relation between fairytale and realism, symbols, intertextuality, the mother-daughter relationship and silences and I analyze these themes in their relation to autofiction and the auto fictive self.  Gemma Lopez Seductions and Narratives has been a key reference, mainly her theories on self-creation in narratives, and the construction of the self, trough language. The narrative is the place where the self can transgress and reshape, which gives the narrative a subversive power. I analyze this presumed power, and look at how the story shapes an opportunity for the subject to see itself.

Children learning to read and write should do so in the same natural way children learn to speak their native language which is in the context of authentic language as a whole. In Sweden the program is generally practiced together with a commercial and pre-organised material called ?kiwi? or ?Stjärnsvenska?.

This essay is about reading among patients in hospital. The aim of the essay is to find out what part reading and the library play for patients in hospital. An additional aim is to find out in what ways the collaboration between hospital librarians and hospital staff could be developed. The starting-point of the problem is one main question: What part does reading play for the patient during the stay at the hospital? On the basis of the answers to this question I have also looked for possibilities of enhanced co-operation between hospital libraries and hospital staff.The method for the essay is qualitative and fifteen persons in three different wards at University Hospital in Malm have been interviewed.
