Arbetslöshet innefattar fler faktorer än brist på arbete och ekonomiska begränsningar. Tidigare studier uppvisar samband mellan arbetslöshet och stressrelaterade sjukdomar och som arbetslös kan upplevelse av kategorisering medverka till känsla av att förlora sin identitet. I denna kvalitativa intervjustudie bestående av sex stycken arbetslösa, kvinnliga deltagare diskuteras olika coping strategiers betydelse för hur situationen som arbetslös hanteras. Datamaterialet har bearbetats induktivt genom meningskoncentrering. Studien visar att stöd från omgivningen samt självförtroende är avgörande faktorer som medverkar till adaptiv, problemfokuserad coping.

Tidigare forskning har visat att hundägare är mer fysiskt aktiva än de som inte äger hund. Deras motivation att vara mer fysiskt aktiv bygger på den sociala interaktionen med hund eller träningskompisar som hundträning/rastning medför. Med hjälp av Self-Determination Theory (SDT) undersöktes vad som motiverar just hundspannsförare att träna själv och hunden. Åtta personer som ägde hund och körde hundspann intervjuades. Frågorna kretsade kring tiden före och efter det att de ägde hund.

Snow White through Grimm and Disney - A Comparative StudyThis essay attempts to discern the differences regarding six Swedish versions of the fairy-tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs over a period of 150 years. Focus is placed on structural transformations through time and media according to the analytical theories of Vladimir Propp. Attention is also given to former research done on the impact of the fairy-tale on the child from a psychological and social point of view. Of interest is the historical background of the tale, commencing with oral tradition, and how this was dealt with by the Grimm brothers. Bullying is a widespread problem that currently exists in many places and in different age groups. In our paper we intend to focus on bullying in adult life. As many as 340,000 adult persons are subjected to victimization in the form of bullying, which is about 9 % of the working population. Between 100 and 300 cases of all suicides committed in Sweden can be linked to bullying. Bullying is a social problem that should be taken more seriously than it does.

This essay describes how theatre can be a tool in social work. The essay evaluates the Swed-ish KRAFT-project, a course for unemployed people with the goal to make them grow as in-dividuals by using drama exercises and performing a theatre play in front of an audience. The essay is a quantitative secondary study of the questionnaire used in the KRAFT-project. Through analysing the questionnaire the participants answered this essay tries to explain the results from a social psychological perspective. The essay also discusses how the participants? self-concept and self-esteem could have been affected by the KRAFT-project.

 Prostitution has been intensely debated in Sweden for nearly four decades. Two major investigations have so far been initiated by the government and numerous propositions have been put forward in the Swedish parliament resulting in the sexköpslag from 1999 that criminalizes purchase of sexual services. The law aims at punishing the buyer and protecting the women in prostitution, thus making it possible for women to be helped by various social interventions rather than punished. Swedish society has undergone major changes in these decades. Globalization, the internet and the membership in the EU have changed the Swedish society and influenced the discourse on prostitution.This paper has a twofold aim, on the one hand investigating if and how these changes have had an impact on the prostitution discourse in texts produced by the government and analyze how female and male sexuality in connection to prostitution is constructed.

In this diploma work we present the results from a study of how adult immigrants utilise the services provided by the public library in Biskopsgården, Gothenburg. A survey encompassing 51 library visitors of foreign origin and an interview with two librarians at the library were performed.The results from the survey show that the majority of the informants were male students inages from 26 to 45 years and that they had been living in Sweden for a maximum of five years. 73% of the informants used the library to borrow literature in Swedish, 53% to read newspapers and periodicals in their native language, 43% to borrow literature in their native language and 43% to read newspapers and periodicals in Swedish.These results were compared with two other related studies with which partial correspondencewas found. There seems to be a consensus in the world that the climate is changing, bringing unpredictable and severe consequences for both humans and nature. The feld of social work is known for helping misfortunate individuals and groups, and is said to deal with people in their environments. Yet there seems to be a lack of giving these environments meaning as also something natural. This thesis has the purpose of exploring the connection between social work and the physical environment made by research literature, using the methodology of literature review. The questions asked is in which ways the physical environment can be connected to human welfare; if so, what implications are there for the feld of social work, and fnally how can the discussion be understood using a typology over environmental sustainability presented by Andrew Dobson.
