Interactive Visualization of Statistical Data using Multidimensional Scaling Techniques
This study has been carried out in cooperation with Unilever and partly with the EC founded project, Smartdoc IST-2000-28137. In areas of statistics and image processing, both the amount of data and the dimensions are increasing rapidly and an interactive visualization tool that lets the user perform real-time analysis can save valuable time. Real-time cropping and drill-down considerably facilitate the analysis process and yield more accurate decisions. In the Smartdoc project, there has been a request for a component used for smart filtering in multidimensional data sets. As the Smartdoc project aims to develop smart, interactive components to be used on low-end systems, the implementation of the self-organizing map algorithm proposes which dimensions to visualize.
Implementering av Virtuellt Byggande i byggprocessen : Fallstudie av NCC Construction Sverige AB
Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is the definition for using BIM in the construction process to simulate and analyse the building. Resulting use of the technology will according to proponents lead to fewer construction errors, a better understanding between stakeholders for the construction project, less communication problems and a smoother construction process. Although BIM has according to researchers a big potential, few companies have succeeded in broad and continues implementation. The study aims to identify the factors affecting the implementation. More precisely identify what factors influencing the decision to adopt VDC and potential barriers in the diffusion process. The empirical findings are based on a case study of NCC Construction Sweden.
Incitament för fastighetsägare att omvandla bruna kontorsfastigheter till gröna - När och varför de väljer att investera
This thesis of 15 hp has been implemented at Halmstad University, in collaboration with Saab Dynamics in Linköping. Saab Dynamics is a company operating in the defence industry where competition is tough. This necessitates new ways to increase efficiency in the company, which is the basis for this thesis. Saab Dynamics wants to introduce simulation driven design. Since Saab Dynamics engineers have little experience of simulation, required a user methodology with clear guidelines.
Generella riktlinjer vid distribuerad Scrum
Today many companies are global and can exist all over the world. It is more common that projects are conducted in different locations, from various cities in a country to nations in different parts of the world. To manage projects both traditional practices such as the Waterfall method and new flexible methods known as agile methods are used. How is the process affected when a project is distributed, when the team is scattered in different places? This makes it difficult to create a good project, something we will discuss and try to find solutions for.
Kunskapsöverföring i projektbaserade organisationer- En strävan efter att slippa uppfinna hjulet igen
A big part of assets in companies today consists of their employees knowledge and skills. In today?s society knowledge insensitive companies are increasing. The survival of these companies lie in the knowledge of their employees, which make it of great importance that knowledge transfer is managed properly. Knowledge transfer is important since it makes it possible for co-workers to apply old solutions to new problems that arise, using knowledge that already existing within the organization.
Statistisk behandlig av driftsdata : Ur Garpenberggruvans driftcentral
Boliden Mineral Ab's mine in Garpenberg, Dalarna is going through a massiveexpansion. The annual ore production is being increased from 1,4 million tons to 2,5million tons in less than two years period of time. Along this expansion thedepartment of mining techniques is administrating a project of optimizing the shortterm planning for the mining production. Garpenberg have since mid 90s storedinformation from all mining processes in a database. The information consists of time data from all the different activities required in themining process, for example charging, blasting, loading etc. The database also containstime data of delays that are affecting the production.

IKEA HaparandaTornio employ some two-hundred people in its furniture retail store.Keeping track of staff statistics and employee information has previously been achievedthrough the use of a basic Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheet. The store?s human resourcesdepartment requested an upgrade to this system with the hope of speeding up andsimplifying the administrative process, as well as to make it easier to monitor HR-relatedtarget statistics. The following report documents the development process of that upgrade ascarried out by the author. The project draws on research in usability design and cognitivepsychology to develop a user-friendly interface.
HemoCue Cognatus - Ett Intelligent Analysinstrument
HemoCue AB is a multinational corporation targeted on manufacturing point-of-care analysisinstruments for medical treatment. Their main product, the DM 201, is outdated and has bigissues gaining new market shares. For example, no medical treatment center in Sweden usesDM 201 frequently. The project of developing a new instrument to replace it was assignedtwo students at the development engineering program at Halmstad University. The projectalso included integration of the new platform for DM 202 to HemoCue AB:s remainingproducts. The project began by defining the different technical areas concerned.

Ung och arbetslös i KUBIK
Young people may be socially and psychologically strained due to unemployment. In the long run, it could result in learned helplessness, which is, according to Seligman (1993), a psychological condition with similar symptoms to the ones that occur during depression. The condition develops when an individual experiences negative events and, after various unsuccessful attempts to escape or conquer them, the individual finally believes that there is no relation between behavior and consequences. The result is often that the person gives in, or stops, making an effort when new difficult situations occur. Kalix UniverCity runs the project called KUBIK in the communities of Kalix and Överkalix.
Recovering common ground : landscape architecture as a tool for post-conflict recovery and spatial reconciliation in divided cities
The following chapters examine landscape architecture
which engages in contested territories with an emphasis
on the way in which landscape architecture can engage
with the issues of divided cities or landscapes with similar
social, cultural and physical properties. The project focuses specifically on the potential landscape architecture
has for promoting or aiding in the reconciliation process
of these areas, by examining the following questions.
How can landscape architecture be used to benefit the
peace building process of divided cities and landscapes?
How can landscape architecture be used in the process of
promoting spatial reconciliation in the case of Belfast?
The investigation begins with a description of the background to the project in Chapter 1, which functions as a
brief introduction to the urban phenomena that is divided
cities. It then goes on to introduce the different methods
and data employed in order to answer the research questions
in Chapter 2.
After introducing the problem and the methodology, a
global overview of divided cities is performed in Chapter
3. This chapter is divided into two sections.
Abort n Go. : Med fullständiga rättigheter
ABORT ?n GO is a design project within the crossing boundaries of Critical Design and IndustrialDesign. The contemporary discourse on abortion is problematic, and infected by double norms. Thesenorms may cause feelings of guilt and shame in women who have an abortion. The abortion rightis built upon conflicting standpoints; one is that women have right to have an abortion, withoutbeing questioned. Second is the notion that abortion is something that should be avoided, implyingthat you?ve done something wrong if you have had an abortion. With this project and physical product I want to explore and discuss the contemporary discourseon abortion in Sweden.
Matematikens historia i undervisningen
The aim of this thesis is to examine how the history of mathematics can be used in teaching and whether pupils? attitudes to mathematics can be affected by this. In order to do this a school project about the history of mathematics is planned, implemented and analysed. The following questions are addressed:? Why use the history of mathematics in teaching?? How can the history of mathematics be used in teaching?? Can a historical perspective in teaching affect pupils? views on mathematics? The school curriculum emphasizes the importance of history in teaching. Literature, scientific articles and government inquiries call attention to the positive effects of including a historical perspective in teaching. The school project, which underlies this thesis, is put to practice by 25 pupils in a mathematics science profile class.
Design Program for Dessie Campus, Wollo University, Ethiopia
A geographical position and its social, cultural and political context as well as climate
and specific physical characteristics define the scope for a landscape design project.
This has become clearer for us in our master project where we have made a Design
Program for the outdoor environment of Wollo University in Dessie, Ethiopia and
analysed and reflected on the work and process. The aim for the project has been
to design an attractive and functional outdoor environment for the Campus, based
on the inventories and the needs and wishes of clients and users. But, the aim has
also been for us as landscape architect students to gain a greater knowledge about
landscape architecture and the design process by position ourselves outside our usual
context. The method has been open and seeking where the site, literature studies,
dialogues with people and our own experiences from the field study in Ethiopia has
influenced the work.
Wollo University is situated 400 kilometers north of Addis Ababa, in a
mountainous landscape. It faces problems of heavy rainfall during the summer,
soil erosion, a lack of essential facilities, and is still a construction site with empty
spaces in-between buildings and infrastructure.
