Traditional market segmentation - an evaluating approach

The purpose of this research is to evaluate traditional market segmentation variables, as criticism has been directed towards these variables. Based on our problem discussion we find it motivating to undertake investigation in order to understand which connotations an ethnographic approach will provide. Methodology:We have applied an ethnographic approach, which has enabled us to attain under the surface knowledge from our respondents. Theoretical perspective:As we wanted to evaluate existing traditional segmentation variables, we decided to only include theory regarding these variables. Empirical data:In order to collect our data, we observed seven respondents at Ikea and conducted observations and in-depth interviews in their homes.

This essay studies the practice of both the political and the administrative leadership at the municipal level from the point of view of the politicians and the chief officers leadership role, and the relationship between politicians and administrators. I discuss and analyse how politicians and senior officials practice leadership, differences or similarities and if their practice of leadership raises any challenges in a democratic framework at the municipal level. I conducted interviews with the municipal political leader and the head of administration at the municipal level in Karlshamn and Sölvesborg. In the analysis I discuss communication as a leadership process which highlights ?enabling elements? and potentials of the leadership process.

The characteristic of services as an effort carried out in a "moment of truth" implies a risk for failures. This study sheds new light on how alternative offerings that customers are initially exposed to can affect satisfaction and loyalty in the service failure and recovery context. More specifically, two aspects of the initial offering are studied: promised general service quality and the presence of a promise about a specific product attribute. Based on a presentation of the main theoretical perspectives, hypotheses are formulated and a scenario-based experiment in a hotel setting is designed to explore these. The results indicate that a higher level of promised service quality can result in more positive evaluations of satisfaction and stronger word-of-mouth intentions than for a lower level of promised service quality.

During the last decade executive coaching has become an increasingly popular method of management development. Few studies have been conducted within this area, especially in Sweden, and little has been said about the construction of management in executive coaching. The purpose of this master?s thesis is to study executive coaching from a social constructionist perspective, focusing on the construction of management. The two research questions are: How is management constructed in executive coaching? How can we understand the construction of management in executive coaching? Additionally, we identify gender as a social construction of importance and thus include a gender perspective in our analysis.

This report presents an independent thesis corresponding 15hp and was carried out on Högskolan in Halmstad during the spring of 2014. The thesis is the final course which ends a three-year mechanical engineering program with focus on technical design.The thesis started in an operation which electricians are exposed to every day. The operation in question is cable laying or wiring. The tool they use is called a tension spring and is a long and stiff wire, usually made out of nylon or fiberglass. The tension spring is fed through pipes in the walls and brings the desired cables with it on the way back.

ABSTRACT The potato has had an important role in the Swedish dietary customs for quite some time. However, during the last forty years, consumption has decreased from 87 kg/year and person to 46 kg/year and person. Other products such as pasta, rice and bulgur are competing with the potato. Many of the competitors have been developed and refined while the potato has not changed much. The potato is still a bulk product while competing products have been differentiated. Stakeholders within the potato market has realized that something has to be done and today there are a number of organizations and networks that all actively work to preserve the Swedish agriculture and specifically the potato as a product. The purpose with this essay is to examine how store managers in the Swedish grocery stores view the handling of the potato in the store, the quality and packaging, marketing and future consumption.

Ekonomistyrning i primärvården - En jämförelse mellan privata och offentliga utförare

The aim of this thesis is to analyze and explain the similarities and differences in management control between a private and a public primary care company. A comparative case study was developed based on one public and one private primary care company in Stockholm County Council. The framework of Otley (1999) was used to define and limit the area of management control systems, according to his five factors. For the analysis of the empirical results Hood's (1995) seven doctrines of New Public Management was applied, and customized to fit the purpose of the study. The results indicate that the differences between the two organizations are very limited.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka ett oviktat index relevans som jämförelsemått för aktivt förvaltade fonders avkastning och förvaltares förmåga att hitta vinnaraktier. Arbetet använder sig av en kvantitativ metod för framtagning av ett oviktat index (SUWX 100) som inkluderar de 100 största företagen på Stockholmsbörsen. Analysen av kvantitativa data är av induktiv karaktär, och använder sig av de Sverigefonder som finns i PPM-systemet för att dra slutsatser kring det oviktade indexet som jämförelsemått. Vår slutsats är att det finns aspekter av ett oviktat index som gör det användbart som jämförelsemått för Sverigefonder..

Riskhantering i offentliga och privata företag

The purpose of our essay is to investigate and compare the general and operational risk management in the private and public sector. As an introduction to the subject we describe the differences and similarities between the two sectors. Our survey is based on the term risk, the definitions of risk management, its development and finally the process of risk management. Since our survey is focusing on operational risks we also describe the operational process and the specific operational risks.The method we used to investigate the subject is a quantitative method. A survey was sent to 100 companies in Sweden, of which 50 were private companies and 50 were public companies.

Ledarskap, management eller både och? - En kvalitativ studie av teori kontra praktik

Vårt syfte är att undersöka om gott chefskap passar in på teorins definitioner av ledarskap eller management eller en kombination av de båda.Uppsatsen är av kartläggande och hypotesskapande karaktär och en kvalitativ metod har använts för att insamla, studera och analysera data. Primärdatan består av intervjuer med vd/ledare och ledda på fem större företag verksamma i Sverige samt sex intervjuer med rekryteringskonsulter som enligt vår definition tillhör experternas perspektiv. Primärdatan innefattar även tre intervjuer med inom ämnet verksamma forskare och docenter på Ekonomihögskolan vid Lunds universitet. Sekundärdatan utgörs av vetenskapliga artiklar samt litteratur som behandlar ämnet ledarskap och management.Utredningen visar en klar övervikt för de egenskaper som teorin karaktäriserar som ledarskap. I sju av tio fall nämner respondenterna ledarskapsegenskaper, och bara i tre av tio fall anger de att någon som leder och ansvarar för verksamheter bör ägna sig åt uppgifter som tillhör management.
