This report deals with the performance of a batch flow treatment of landfillleachate compared with a continuous flow system. The parameters in focus were total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), BOD5 and COD. The pilot-scale experiment used eight barrels with a volume of 150 liters. Each barrel was constructed differently concerning its flow, its bed material grain size and its presence of plants or not. Four of the barrels worked in batch mode, thus four in continuous flow mode.

The purpose of our essay is to develop an understanding and an insight for the fashion industry. We want to examine what the creative industries can learn from the unique position that fashion hold in a field between commercialization and art. We used a theoretical ground to enlarge our understanding for the distinctive place that fashion holds. To gain further insight in the fashion industry we complete the theory with empirical facts. The empirical facts were collected through a qualitative method with deep-going interviews.

The purpose with the paper is to theoretically investigate how sensory experience and positive affect in contact with outdoor environment can promote health by 1) develop a model of the sensory and emotional processes based on multiple code theory (Bucci, 1997) and 2) examine if this model can increase understanding of the processes that takes place in outdoor recreation, the way this is described in environmental psychology research and theory. The paper starts by introducing research and perspectives concerning outdoor recreation. Different theories of nature?s health promoting effects are described. These include the restoration theories of Roger Ulrich and Steven and Rachel Kaplan, theories more concerned with outdoor activities and a theory combining these two perspectives called instorative theory. After this sensory and emotional information processing is examined through the works of Wilma Bucci and Jean Ayres. Antionio Damasio?s theories of emotion and Daniel Stern?s concept of vitalityaffects are than introduced to extend this reasoning.

The fashion industry in Kenya is slowly growing. The middleclass is getting bigger and theinterest for fashion among these consumers is increasing. One major problem for the growthof the industry is the extensive second hand trade, which has given several problematicaffects. The textile production has almost disappeared, the western influences are evident andthe consumer?s price sensitivity is prominent.The aim of this thesis is, by conducting a field study; to qualitative examine how to develop astrong domestic fashion brand on the Kenyan market and to give a foundation for a brandingstrategy for people involved within fashion in Kenya.

Uppsatsen behandlar hur modet sprids till och mellan flickor i förtonåren, ett område som enligt oss hittills är otillräckligt utforskat. För att ringa in ämnet har vi valt att behandla kända teorier om både modespridning och generell spridning. Även teorier om barnkonsumtion behandlas i uppsatsen. För att komplettera dessa sekundära källor har vi utfört kvalitativa intervjuer med fem flickor i åldern tio till tolv år. Under intervjuerna diskuterades hur flickorna får inspiration i sin modeadoption och vem som har störst betydelse för hur de uppfattar och tar till sig mode.

The aim of this study was to investigate the result of an effort to support reading development and the reading motivation. My approach was an intervention study during four weeks, where intensive reading in a group of three pupils in grade one took place. Individual conversations and group conversations were central methods in combination with different ways of processing the texts. Interviews were conducted with the class teacher and the participating children to see the difference in reading and motivation before and after the project. The result shows that an intensive period with reading fiction books with subsequent conversations and different processing of the text is a useful developing method for decoding, reading comprehension and reading motivation.

The world today is experiencing an AI summer, urging us to engage with its technologies on a daily basis. Recently, researchers have begun to voice concerns about the potential risks if we do not address the inherent biases in these systems. After all, AI is merely code based on mathematics produced by humans. This essay focuses on Stable Diffusion and Midjourney to examine biases in fashion representation and how fashion is visualized and reproduced concerning race, social class, and culture. A series of prompts were intentionally written in simple terms such as ?rich,? ?poor,? and ?race.? The results revealed troubling biases, as these programs consistently depicted poor individuals as people of color and portrayed wealthy, elegantly dressed individuals as exclusively white..

This project examined the possibility to create an electronical aid with the purpose of increasing environmental awareness and to design the aid in a fashion that inspires other to develop similar applications. The impact of car traffic was examined, and the base of the aid was built up in modular form to simplify the hardware aspect. For the active, data processing part of the aid the Arduino platform was chosen because of its simplicity and big possibilities of help in different internet fora, for those who choose to create similar applications in the future. The main part of the project var the use of real-time information from the car?s on board diagnostics.

Syftet för vår uppsats är att ta reda på hur en trendfaktiskt skapas idag och vilka faktorer som är med och påverkar.Metod: Vår uppsats är byggd på kvalitativa intervjuer med respondentersom verkar på den berörda marknaden. Uppsatsen bygger på etthermeneutiskt synsätt där vi valt att ta fram olika teorier somligger till grund för att svara på vår frågeställning. I vår studievalde vi att beröra ämnet från olika vinklar där både detpsykologiska och sociologiska fick spela en stor roll samt om detfinns ekonomiska drivkrafter bakom trenders uppkomst.Teori: Mode tillhandahåller extra adderat värde till kläder men vilketendast existerar i människans fantasi och freställning.Sociologer studerar mode ur en samhällssynvinkel, men medfokus på att mode påverkas av människor som agerar i grupper.3Psykologer däremot studerar mode utifrån enskilda individersinstinkter och behov. Om man använder det psykologiskaaspekterna som underlag till att studera mode kan man se modesom en del av personligheten inte som ett materiellt ting.

A computer model based on minimization of the free energy, capable to predict contact angles and spreading transitions between Wenzel and Cassie mode for drops placed on surfaces with different topography were implemented in matlab. Simulations were compared with experiments documented in the literature. These showed that reported transitions between Cassie and Wenzel mode can be explained by minimization of the free energy. The aim of this study was to understand how social workers deal with honour-related violence, with special focus on the processing from sheltered housing. Our qualitative interviews with social workers that work with this kind of problems show that there are both obstacles and opportunities in the processing from sheltered housing. On the negative side are the loneliness, the shame and the guilt that the girls may experience when they need to leave their families. The social services can both be an obstacles and an opportunity. When the girls need to create a new life in a new city they have a lot of opportunities and in the same time it is hard to get to know new friends when you don´t know the city or have much money.
