The following inquiry begins with one simple question: who is the margin? In other words, what is the referent of the term margin? Is it possible for language to capture connotations of an intended and supposed reality beyond its own limits? My supposition is that margin is a valuable concept to critical studies of the hegemonic order and dominant culture in various contexts. It is therefore necessary to expose the term itself to a critical analysis by attempting to trace its position in different discourses. The intention is to illustrate that the term margin is not merely an abstraction, confined within the framework of intricate theoretical rhetoric.In a deconstructive analysis of Gender Trouble by Judith Butler and Can the Subaltern Speak? by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, based on the work of Jacques Derrida, I study the significance of the term margin and explore how the use or non-use of concrete examples affects the reception of both the term margin and ultimately the text as a whole.The study of these two texts reveals that some of the very same critique raised by Butler and Spivak is itself applicable to the authors? own theory production.

In our attempts to understand the world, wildlife films play a significant role. Wildlife films help us to see new places and learn about animals in remote locations, that we otherwise wouldn?t be able to do. Yet wildlife films have throughout history been criticized, mainly for the ambivalent relationship between science and storytelling. While the films give us a scientific impression and say something about the ?reality?, they clearly have the intension to amuse, capture and entertain their audience.

I denna kandidatuppsats undersöks narrativer och argumentation i Jan Björklunds pluggskola. Bakgrunden till uppsatsen är att undersöka hur politiker använder berättelsens övertygande kraft för att vinna röster, och huruvida en argumentation baserat på narrativer är hållbar. Materialet som ligger till grund för denna uppsats är insamlade debattartiklar och uttalanden där Jan Björklund presenterar sin skolpolitik. The purpose of my study is to study Social Democrats immigration policy over the period 1990 and 2013. My material consists of party programs and motions that social democracy has raised in Parliament. As a research method I used McGee´s ideograph theory. I use a cluster analysis inspired by Kenneth Burke to analyze the meaning of those found ideographs. I also present and use Bitzers rhetorical situation in my analyzeWith help of Burke´s rhetorical situation I could see how the Social Democrats' rhetorical approach to immigration policy in the different periods in society.My investigation of the Social Democratic Party program and motions / propositions revealed the following ideographs: Democracy, solidarity, equality and freedom.

This essay examines the narrative aspect of interactive fiction. The study uses Janet H. Murrays analysis of the digital environment and the properties of it as procedural, participatory, spatial and encyclopedic. From this, her three characteristic pleasures in digital narratives - immersion, agency and transformation - are examined from the perspective of interactive fiction. The study also examines Nick Montforts analysis of interactive fiction as a potential narrative and a simulated world or environment.

For the sender of television advertising, it is important to utilize content that gives effect, especially to get the receiver?s attention and then maintain it (Hägg, 1998). What is the content of a commercial that creates effect? Previous research focused on the impact that commercials have on the receivers. A discussion of which content that produced effect in commercials does not occur.

Intresset för fusioner är stort både bland konsulter, forskare och massmedia i form av radio/TV och affärspress. Samtalen eller diskursen kring fusioner som massmedia och särkilt affärspressjournalisterna för skulle kunna bidra till att påverka företag att handla på ett visst sätt. Viktigt är alltså att se till hur affärspressjournalisterna uttrycker sig samt vad som uttrycks om fusioner.Syfte:Syftet är att studera diskursen kring fusioner för att bidra till en bättre förståelse för fenomenet fusioner.Avgränsningar:Främst studeras artiklar som har hämtats från affärspress med fokus på de två senaste åren.Genomförande:Uppsatsen är en litteraturstudie vilket betyder att den grundar sig på böcker,  forskningsartiklar, dagstidningar och tidskrifter.Resultat:Affärspressjournalisterna tar stor hänsyn till vad forskare och även i viss mån vad företagsledareoch konsulter uttrycker. Fusioner tenderar att konstrueras redan i ?pratet? kring dem.

Advertising is something that we get in touch with on a daily basis and more or less everywhere. Advertising is used in different mediums, such as magazines, television, radio, internet, cellphones et.c. The aim of the present study is to find out if there are any recurrent dissimilarities how advertising is constructed among the mediums regarding rhetorical and semiotical theories. Two different mediums have been chosen for a comparison, printed advertisments versus internetbanners. The study has been based on a total of ten qualitative image analyses.

The Security Council?s resolution 1325 addressed the major negative impact that armed conflict has on women and children. Denna studie undersöker hur begravningsbyrån Fonus valde att bemöta en kritisk artikel, publicerad i Aftonbladet, med ett pressmeddelande som lades upp på den egna hemsidan. Här utsätts respondenterna först för negativa påståenden riktade mot Fonus för att färga deras åsikt om företaget innan de får ta del av pressmeddelandet. Syftet är att undersöka om Fonus textbaserade kriskommunikation kan påverka respondenterna och deras attityd mot företaget i en positiv riktning.Undersökningens slutsats är att ett budskap som utformats med en väl balanserad retorik och ett väl avvägt bruk av Benoits strategier, utgör ett fruktbart sätt att påverka mottagaren i den önskade riktningen..

AbstractThis work is a pilot study intended to show what an experienced teacher of Swedish in first grade teaches and how she teaches. A further aim is to test methods for the analysis of Aristotle?s forms of knowledge in order to elucidate the teaching of reading and writing. As regards theory, the study proceeds from rhetoric and its doctrine of forms of knowledge according to which the whole in communication consists of episteme, techne and phronesis. The methods involve analysing the content of the communication and analysing speech acts, rhetorical figures and paralinguistic expressions.

On the 12:th of April 2011, the Swedish tabloid magazine Expressen publishes a story, claiming that Ola Lindholm, presenter of critically acclaimed TV-show ?Wild Kids? has been suspected and apprehended on cocaine allegations. The serious allegation called for Ola Lindholm to defend himself against the allegations. His only public response was a blog-post where he claimed his innocence, albeit with some reservations.  The purpose of this paper is to analyze Lindholm?s rhetorical defense.
