Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a hereditary X-linked fatal disease that affects 1 in 3500 male births. It is the most common kind of muscular dystrophy in children and leads to death in the late teens or early 20s for many patients. The mdx mouse is a model of DMD that can be used to investigate experimental therapies. Overexpression of a glycosyltransferase, CT GalNAc, in mdx mice has been demonstrated to prevent the development of muscular dystrophy. Overexpression of another glycosyltransferase, LARGE, is currently being investigated as a treatment for another group of muscular dystrophies, the dystroglycanopathies. In this study, we overexpressed LARGE in mdx mice in order to investigate its effect on the development of muscular dystrophy.

The workplace is for many associated with joy and commitment, for others it is associated with fatigue, inadequacy and cynicism that is explained as the three dimensions of burnout. A general view of burnout is that it is an individual problem that many companies ignore, because a preventive task does not generate immediate profits. This has been a growing problem for years. Burnout costs not only money but also time and knowledge. Unfortunately, the popular belief is that "If it ain?t broke, don?t fix it." Organizations that think this way are sacrificing future benefits for short-term gains.

The aim of this paper was to examine the specific experience of being bicultural, what ackulturation strategy the person utilized and what influenced the use of this strategy. The findings were analyzed with the help of Pierre Bourdieu?s concepts of habitus and cultural capital. The empirical data was collected through qualitative interviews with four women of Chilean background, who either were born in or had been living in Sweden since childhood. The results of the interviews showed that all the respondents predominantly utilized the integration strategy, meaning that they participated in and felt a connection to both the Swedish and Chilean culture.

Ångestsyndrom tillhör den vanligaste psykiatriska problematiken hos barn. Ångestsyndrom börjar ofta i tidig ålder, medför stort lidande och predicerar psykiatrisk problematik senare i livet. Det är viktigt att undersöka hur ångestsyndrom kan förebyggas eftersom få barn med denna problematik kommer i kontakt med behandling. Syftet med studien var att undersöka om FRIENDS, ett preventionsprogram från Australien, fungerar i en svensk kontext. Femtio barn i nioårsåldern undervisades i FRIENDS under tio lektioner.

Syftet var att undersöka förskollärares tolkning av begreppet mobbning samt undersöka hur de arbetar för att förebygga mobbning bland barnen i förskolan och i förskoleklassen.                                                                                     I läroplanerna, Lpo94 och Lpfö98, nämns vikten av att arbeta för att barnen och eleverna ska känna trygghet i skolan. Detta är ett viktigt ämne som är ständigt aktuellt.                                                                                                          Valde att undersöka förskollärarnas uppfattningar genom en enkätstudie. Delade ut 50 enkäter till förskollärare fördelade på 11 förskolor och 5 förskoleklasser. Bortfallet blev 18 stycken.                                                                   Resultatet visar att de arbetar kring frågor som rör mobbning bland barnen på varierande sätt. Endast ett fåtal nämnde likabehandlingsplanen som ett redskap i detta arbete.                                                                                           Nästan hälften av de förskollärare som svarade på enkäten upplever att de inte har den kunskap/utbildning som behövs för att de ska kunna arbeta med att förebygga mobbning på ett för dem tillfredsställande sätt.Resultatet av denna studie visar även att de åtta program som presenteras i boken ?På tal om mobbning ? och det som görs? som gavs ut av Skolverket under 2009 är okända för förskollärarna i stor utsträckning.    .

Genom att använda olika skyddsåtgärder som dubbla/indikatorhandskar, mun och ansiktsskydd samt användandet av preventiva arbetsmetoder som Hands-free teknik (HFT) och trubbiga nålar kan eventuella risker för blodexponering och en potentiell risk för blodsmitta minska..

The public health care sector has come under increasing pressure to cut down costs, maximize productivity and satisfy patients' needs during the 1990s and onwards. As a way of "getting more for less" quality management has been introduced. Originating in the private manufacturing industry, quality management has a strong focus on productivity and efficiency, aspects which are measured in quantitative terms. However, there are strong concerns that quality management is a means of speeding up the marketization of public health care by introducing core values much different from the ethic and medical norms that traditionally underpin health care organizations.This essay focuses on how quality management has been introduced to, and transformed by, public health care. A theoretical framework based on new institutionalism is constructed, and translation theories are used as a way of illustrating how the medical institutional environment, in fact, changes the concept of quality management.

The purpose of this study is to examine how two different primary schools with the same school management district work with daily physical activity. We have chosen to conduct our investigation based on interviews. Through the interviews, we can highlight the teacher´s and principal´s interpretations of the concept regarding physical activity and find out the school´s arguments and working methods for pupil´s physical activity. These two schools work with physical activity in two different ways and the study describes the teacher´s and principal's choice of approach. Since our training is directed towards the younger ages, school years 1-3, we chose to interview teachers who work in these classes.

En behandlingsmetod i dag är att applicera ett tättslutande förband och aktivera ett negativt tryck för att på så vis åstadkomma ett undertryck i sårhålan. En metod som förändrat situationen för patienten. Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur omvårdnadsbehovet ser ut, hur metoden negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) påverkar omvårdnaden av patienter med infektion i bröstbenet samt att belysa patientens upplevelse av situationen.

Damages have four main functions: reparation, placing of the costs, distribution of the losses and prevention. The rules about damages evolved before liability insurance had the extension it has today, 97 % of the Swedish populations is covered by liability insurance, since it is included in the comprehensive household insurance. Liability insurance should be looked at in the light of the damage rules, but the rules about damages are adapted to the insurance possibilities.The Law of damages contains, though the general adjustment article 6:2, the adjustment article 2:4 about children and the adjustment article 2:5 about the mentally ill, a possibility to adjust a non reasonable damage claim. If the liability insurance covers the damages no adjustment is made. Even when the adjustment articles are being used the damages is a heavy burden for the person who is liable for the damages.

Inledning: Bandy har en låg skadeincidens med cirka 7 skador per 1000 matchtimmar. Den vanligaste skadelokalisationen är ansiktet som står för ca en tredjedel av rapporterade skador. Eftersom antalet studier inom bandy är begränsat, finns anledning till att öka kunskapen om skadepanoramat, för att på sikt kunna arbeta förebyggande för att minska antalet skador. Syfte: Att med en kvantitativ ansats analysera rapporterade skador i elitseriebandy herrar 2007-2012. Metod: Resultatet av samtliga inrapporterade skador mellan 2007-2012 har analyserats.

I have chosen to work with drag hose system and try to find an alternative to spread manure with a usually tank system, see if you can make a profit and what advantage and disadvantage the system has. The purpose whith the project has been to try to make a system that can spread manure at better occasions than farmers do today and above everything make a financial addition. Today it is just a heavy work and takes a lot of time. I have counted on investment costs and carefully examined what equipment you need. I have not the technical details in my project, I have just tried to understand how it is to spread manure with drag hose system today. What is drag hose system? You put a hose in your manuretank, connect it to a pump that is driven by a traktor or stationary engine. You place a hose that reach the field were you are going to spread.

Diabetes utgör idag ett växande globalt folkhälsoproblem. Antalet diabetiker beräknas vara 360 miljoner fram till år 2030 (WHO, 2005). Utvecklingen från ett traditionellt liv till en modern livsstil med stress, ökat födointag och mindre motion är några av nyckelfaktorerna i utvecklingen av diabetes typ 2. Sekundär preventiva åtgärder vid diabetes typ 2 är en hälsosam kost i kombination med motion, för att förebygga utvecklingen av komplikationer relaterade till sjukdomen. Syftet med studien var att undersöka vilka sekundära preventiva insatser som finns, för att få patienter med diabetes typ 2 att uppnå god metabol kontroll med fokus på kost och motion samt hur sjuksköterskan kan utnyttja detta i sitt omvårdnadsarbete.

During consultation procedures between forest owners and the Sámi, data on, e.g., reindeer lichen biomass on the current site is needed. Hitherto, the existing methods of measuring lichen cover and biomass has been either objective methods such as the Point Intercept method, which is time consuming, or some sort of subjective visual estimation, which is faster but less accurate. However, both these methods are sensitive to different observers and/or to different inventories. This paper addresses the further development and evaluation of a photographical inventory method that uses colour distribution in images to estimate lichen biomass. During the autumn of 2011 six different locations, with different grazing pressure and lichen cover, in Norrbotten county were inventoried using both the Point Intercept method and the photographical method, complemented with collection of biomass samples.

Introduction: In Sweden the definition of ambulance nursing is the examination and treatment of sick or injured people done by ambulance nurses during transport.  This means not only focus on the illness or injury but also the human being treated. The paramedic service must be based on the presumption that the medical needs of the patients are guaranteed, and that the expectations and demands of the public are satisfied. Competence and availability are basic terms for a well-functional paramedic service. There is a lot of pressure put on the people working with pre-hospital nursing. One mistake can lead to serious consequences for the patient.
