As the Swedish governments long term goals include a reduction of fossil fuel dependency, increasing pressure is placed upon energy companies to create and develop new solutions for renewable energy. The following case study was done in collaboration with the company Sydved Energileveranser AB and one of their contractors, Enarssons Skogsentreprenad AB. The objective of the study is to examine the bioenergy situation in region of Skåne and evaluate the potential solutions in the region for a forest-fuel assortment, based on a bioenergy-cutting-system. As a part of this study I have compared ordinary manual cuttings done with a chain saw and cuttings made using the new ?bio- energy cutting system?. The cuttings made under both systems were tested in areas near agricultural fields or pasture land in order to maintain an open landscape.

Dogs with behavioral problemsThis study was made to investigate if there was a problem in today?s society regarding dogs showing for example excessive aggression and/or anxiety. The main questions in this study was "is there a problem today" and "if there is a problem, what can we do to prevent it". To investigate these questions interviews were made with six different professions concerning the dog domain. The result of the study shows that three of the interviewed considered it to be a problem, one did not have an opinion on the matter and two choose not to call it a dog related problem because it mostly depends on the owner.

Syftet med denna litteraturstudie var att beskriva de icke-farmakologiska åtgärder som kan göra att incidensen av postoperativt illamående och kräkningar minskar. Studien baseras på tio vetenskapliga artiklar som har noggrant valts ut och kvalitetsgranskats. Resultaten visar att de icke-farmakologiska åtgärder som sjuksköterskan kan utföra och som visar sig hjälpa mot postoperativt illamående och/eller kräkningar är baserade på den österländska läran om människan. Med stimuleringar av vissa bestämda punkter på kroppen kan incidensen av postoperativt illamående och kräkningar minskas. Det finns flera sätt på vilka de stimuleringarna kan göras, samt olika punkter som kan stimuleras.

The aim of this study is to explore the effects of probation officers and their work. The following questions have been asked to come to a conclusion: How do probation officers view their work and the purpose of it? What are the effects of probation officers work? The approach of the study is of a qualitative nature and has been conducted by interviewing three officers of the correctional service system, three probation officers and two ex-criminals that have been on probation. The selection is based on a snowball type selection. To analyse the results of the study we have applied previous research and phenomenological theory to examine the experience of correctional service officers, probation officers and ex criminals.

Long time-series of pressure measurements often have high quality because the early instrumentsare more or less the same as the modern ones. A time-series from Lund consisting of three dailymeasurements from 1780-1997 has been homogenised and is therefore suitable for analysingpossible influences of the enhanced greenhouse effect. According to a two-layer model of theatmosphere one finds a shift in the frequency of baroclinic instability due to an increasedtemperature gradient caused by the increasing CO2. Baroclinic instability over the Atlantic Oceanis the main cause for frontal zone production, causing cyclonic activity over the southern part ofScandinavia. Changes to the baroclinic instability would therefore be traceable in the time seriesfrom Lund.

The prevention of age discrimination in Sweden did not have any solvent grounds until directive 2000/78/EG was implemented into Swedish law. Today age discrimination has been banned for just over two years. This ground of discrimination has, compared to other existing grounds of discrimination in Swedish law, a lot more opportunities to make exceptions from. Given the fact that the exemption rules are vague, it is difficult to determine whether the protection against age discrimination is in fact a protection at all. The purpose of this essay is to describe what the law regarding age discrimination means.

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka hur föräldrars beteenden påverkar sina aktivt tennisspelande barn i samtliga tennissammanhang ur tennistränarens perspektiv i Sverige. Tidigare studier, som är gjorda i andra länder, visar att de flesta tennistränares upplevelser med föräldrar inom tennis är positiva. De problematiska beteenden hos föräldrar som tennistränare upplevt är oftast under tävlingssammanhang då deras barn spelar match. Det finns en kunskapslucka i Sverige kring detta ämne då inga studier är gjorda kring tennisföräldrars beteenden och dess påverkan på sina barn. Fem semistrukturerade intervjuer utfördes på fem svenska tennistränare från olika delar av landet.

Studien undersökte faktorer som kan förklara bristen på kvinnliga chefer och frågeställningarna berörde vilka egenskaper kvinnor och män tillskrev sig, om en önskvärd chef tillskrevs feminina eller maskulina egenskaper samt även könsskillnader angående balansen mellan familjeliv/arbetsliv. Ett bekvämlighetsurval gjordes på ett privat företag (n=82) och instrument som användes i undersökningen var BSRI-SE (Bem, 1974; Persson, 1999) (?=0.85) samt en omarbetad version av Work/family pressure scale (Marongiu & Ekehammar, 1999) (?=0.71). Resultatet av en One-Way ANOVA analys visade signifikanta skillnader mellan respondenterna angående femininitet (p=0,001) men inte gällande maskulinitet (p=0,103). Maskulina och feminina egenskaper var önskvärda hos en chef dock skattades maskulina egenskaper något högre än feminina egenskaper.

By limiting our horse?s freedom of movement, we restrict their opportunity to forage, which is one of their most important needs. If their need of forage is not fulfilled it can lead to frustration, which might manifest itself in abnormal behaviour, like the oral stereotypies for example crib-biting. It is a held belief that the horse swallows air while crib-biting, which they don?t, and that swallowed air causes colic, and the belief that other horses can copy the behaviour, leads to the use of many methods to prevent the behaviour.

The purpose of my essay is on one hand to research and evaluate the measures that one intermediate school in Sweden, uses in order to prevent bullying and stop it in the event that one pupil happens to get bullied or harassed. In other words, I would like to show how that school is capable of creating a safe environment. Qualitative research is used to obtain these findings.On the other hand, I also wish to examine what pupils at the school think about these measures and how they perceive the attitudes of the school?s teachers and management regarding the prevention of bullying. In order to acquire this information quantitative research is used.The conclusions that I draw after conducting my research are as follows:1- Regarding the ?Anti ? bullying Performance Plan?, my essay shows that school teachers and management actively work in order to maintain a safe environment and as a result bullying is successfully prevented the school.

The purpose of this Masters Thesis is to explore the impact of spare time reading fiction on the identity of teenage boys, and what it really means to them. To investigate this, we have focused our investigation on how teenage boys relate to and what they search for in their reading. The data collection is based on 8 interviews with boys in the age between 14 and 15 and on literature on the subject. The theoretical framework focuses on the reading theories of Joseph A. Appleyard, the transactional theory of Louise M.

Det äldrepedagogiska arbetet kan se olika ut, beroende på var äldrepedagogen arbetar någonstans och vad äldrepedagogen har för resurser. Genom att studera det äldrepedagogiska arbetet vill vi ta reda på hur det kan se ut i kommunerna. För att få grepp om äldrepedagogiken och det äldrepedagogiska förhållningssättet har vi intervjuat chefer som har äldrepedagoger anställda i sin verksamhet. Vi vill ta reda på vad de chefer som har anställt äldrepedagoger har för tankar om äldrepedagogik och äldrepedagoger både innan och efter att de anställt äldrepedagoger. Vi har också intervjuat personer som arbetar som äldrepedagoger och undersköterskor för att se skillnader i synsätt.

The aim of this study is to look at censorship and attempted censorship of books about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual (GLBT) people in public libraries in the USA. People from the public can submit formal challenges to a book at the library when they find the material offensive which can lead to those books being taken away from the library shelves. The questions asked are why GLBT- literature is being challenged, and sometimes banned, and how do the libraries deal with the challenges to the books.It is nowadays the people from the public, rather than the government or the librarians that are behind many cases of removal of books with homosexual themes. The study presents some of the fictional GLBT- literature that has been cause for much controversy in the USA. All the five examples mentioned are children?s books concerning GLBT- themes and are among the most challenged books in American libraries in the past twenty years.

This paper deals with institutional and structural factors' influence on democratic transition in limited multiparty regimes in Sub-Saharan Africa. Comparing the cases Kenya and Tanzania, of which the former has made a transition to democracy and the latter has not, this paper reaches the conclusion that political traditions, the coalescing of the opposition, and the elites ability to learn from the electoral process is essential for a transition to democracy. In the specific cases, the harshness of the Moi regime and the Tanzanian vision of national unity may possibly carry some explanatory power, alongside the pressure from international actors.These results have been reached through the application of a comparative case study, where democratic transition constitutes the dependent variable. It should be noted that a harsh definition of the term transition has been applied, according to which the incumbents actual loss of an election is a necessary indicator for transition. However, the Freedom House and Polity scores have been brought up as complement of this definition.

During 2010, 1446 people committed suicide in Sweden. Research shows that groups that are less favored in society have an increased risk of suicide. Social services often encounter groups of people that have a high risk of suicide, for instance welfare recipients or substance abusers. The purpose of this study was to shed light on how social workers talk about suicide and how this might affect interactions with suicidal clients. The study is based on qualitative interviews with five social workers in Stockholm.
