A qualitative comparisonbetween the County Administrative Board in the Swedish regionsHalland, Jönköping and Kronoberg has been made in order to seeinequalities and simmulariteies in their strategies and policies forcommunication. Vi studerar hur olika rådande teorier om det globala civilsamhällets påverkan på politiken kan ge en ökad förståelse för detta exempel, genom att titta närmare på begrepp som makt, globalisering, mänskliga rättigheter samt relation mellan stat och samhälle. Detta material baseras på rådande och aktuell litteratur i form av böcker och artiklar, samt två intervjuer med sakkunniga personer.Nyckelbegrepp i denna studie är makt, det globala civilsamhället, påverkan, feminism samt abortfrågan..

Syftet med uppsatsen är att jämföra svenska Aftonbladets och brittiska Daily Express nyhetsrapportering under första veckan av tsunamikatastrofen i Asien 2004. För att uppfylla syftet har tre frågeställningar gjorts: Vad är huvudfokus i rapporteringen? Vilka länder rapporteras det mest ifrån? Vilka personer får komma till tals? Undersökningen grundas på teorier om nyhetsvärdering och medielogik, samt tidigare forskning om kriskommunikation. Den valda metoden är kvantitativ innehållsanalys och har utförts med hjälp av ett kodschema. Sammanlagt kodades 223 texter från tre olika genrer; notiser, artiklar och reportage.Resultatet visar att Aftonbladets och Daily Express rapporteringar inte skiljer sig så mycket från varandra.

The way society categorize different people into groups is problematic in the sense that the categorization can seem stigmatizing and have social consequences for those being categorized. Immigrants are one of those problematic categories.The following essay studies this categorization of ?immigrants? based on a governmental investigation of structural discrimination that took place in 2002-2008. The aim is to study the use of the category ?immigrant? and the consequences that follows such a categorization.

Är Israel-Palestina konflikten ett religiöst krig eller en politisk fråga? Det är denna fråga vi har som övergripande syfte att besvara i uppsatsen genom att studera hur olika dimensioner av identitet används i konflikten. För att göra det har vi studerat de olika parternas argumentation för rätten till landet, samt för några aktuella konflikthandlingar. Vi har analyserat officiella dokument, artiklar, intervjuer och uttalanden med en innehållslig idéanalys, som delar upp argumenten i ideologiska/religiösa och kognitiva. De aktuella handlingar vi tittat på är palestinsk terrorism/frihetskamp samt Israels byggande av en mur/staket runt Västbanken.

Många av världens ursprungsbefolkningar lever i nybyggarsamhällen, där deras situation präglas av en social marginalisering och tyngs av sociala problem. För att kunna ge ett bidrag och ökad förståelse kring denna problematik är studien utformad som en kritisk diskussion kring medborgarskapet. Det statliga medborgarskapet är centralt, eftersom det definierar vilka individer och kollektiv som inkluderas respektive exkluderas i en politisk gemenskaps specifika rättigheter och skyldigheter. Trots ett inkluderande i det formella medborgarskapet, har ursprungsbefolkningarna dock haft svårigheter att ta del utav dessa rättigheter. Medborgarskapet vilar på en konstruktion som utformats efter det hegemoniska nybyggar-kollektivets värderingar.
