The following project has been made in collaboration with, Denator AB, a biotechnology enterprise. One-dimensional electrophoreses have been used to analyze protein contents of tissue samples. Tissue samples have been either treated according to the company´s newly developed tissue treatment technique or not treated at all and comparisons between these samples have been made. In order to see differences in protein patterns between samples more clearly, a conversion method has been developed where electrophoresis gel visual patterns are used to produce curves, similar to densitometer curves.Denator AB would like to know if the proteins in their treated samples will change visibly over 48 h when incubated at room temperature. This has been investigated using the above mentioned method.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka presentationer av grammatik i två läromedel i svenska som andraspråk. Grammatik har här avgränsats till att handla om ordklasser, då detta är en av de grammatiska delar som ofta ingår i grammatikundervisning. Två metoder har använts för att undersöka detta och det är textanalys och variabelanalys. Analysens resultat jämförs och tolkas utifrån teorier om grammatikens roll vid andraspråksinlärning, samt teorier om formgivning som kan främja elevernas inlärning. Studien visar att mitt ena undersökta material i högre grad fokuserar på grammatik än vad det andra gör, samt att denna lärobok också visar en koppling till processbarhetsteorin i sin presentation av grammatik.

Background: Earlier research describes patients with blood-bourne pathogens experiences from the healthcare system. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe how registered nurses experience taking care of patients with blood-bourne pathogens. Method: This study had a descriptive design with a qualitative method. Eight interviews where performed and analyzed with manifest content analyze. Three categories ?Comfort in their profession?, ?Support from the organization?and ?Fear of being contaminated?, and five subcategories ?Support from hygiene guidelines?, ? Thoughtfulness?, ?The own responsibility?, ?Feelings of fear and concern?and ?To meet preconceptions?, emerged.

How does the visitor experience the message and symbolism in an archaeological exhibition?Can they notice hidden elements in the exhibition and what decides if they see it or not?In my work I studied these things by making an investigation among exhibition visitors thathave much or none knowledge about archaeology and history. I wished to see how well theycan notice this and if knowledge is important for the understanding of the message and thesymbols. The case study takes place at the exhibition Metropolis at Kulturen in Lund, wherethe history behind and about the Medieval town of Lund is shown.My results show that the possibility for understanding the messages and symbolism exist, butthe chances to do so increase with knowledge.My goal was also try to give some guidelines for exhibition which will improve presentationof the exhibition. To express it shortly this include knowledge, self-awareness and to makevisitor´s studies.My paper also discuss related things: how exhibitions are made, the visitor, the society versusthe museum, the new growing trend towards the museum as a great experience, the changeswithin the museum world and how this affect the future of the archaeological museum..

The purpose of this study is to show what melancholy and irony in my poems express and what techniques that are used to accomplish these effects. Many theorists, among them Sigmund Freud and Julia Kristeva, characterize melancholy as an experience of loss, and therefore one of my questions is what kind of losses appear in my poetry. In search for an answer I analyze the texts from both a psychoanalytic and a sociological point of view. In the latter perspective I discuss the postmodern society using concepts from contemporary thinkers like Zygmunt Bauman, Fredric Jameson and Jean Baudrillard. Finally, I also examine if melancholy has an influence on the form of the poems.

Peritonitis is a potentially life-threatening disease in horses. With no published work from Sweden, the objective of the study was to describe the occurrence and demographics of horses with peritonitis and to evaluate the outcome of treatment in terms of short-term survival during a ten-year period in a large clinic in Sweden. Data were examined in a retrospective manner in 69 horses diagnosed with and treated for peritonitis at Universitetsdjursjukhuset (UDS) in Uppsala between 2002-2012. Demographic data examined included age, breed, gender, history, duration of illness before arriving at UDS, reason for seeking veterinary care, initial clinical findings (general state of health, heart rate, respiratory rate, mucous membrane appearance, rectal temperature, abdominal sounds, rectal examination, nasogastric tube results), abdominocentesis results (abdominal fluid analysis including visual inspection, leukocytes and protein, cytology, bacterial culture and sensitivity pattern), complete blood count (CBC), Serum amyloid-A (SAA) upon presentation and a follow up, plasma fibrinogen, plasma protein and albumin, treatments, length of hospitalisation and outcome. All medical records with the diagnosis of peritonitis were extracted from the medical records system Trofast. All records with any other diagnosis code referring to trauma such as rectal tear or ruptured uterus, recent abdominal surgery, external trauma or rupture in the gastrointestinal tract were excluded. To be included in the study, the peritoneal fluid should contain more than 20.000 cells/?L, have a peritoneal protein value of >30 g/L; or have a significantly changed peritoneal fluid sample (orange with increased turbidity or worse) in cases where no data on cells or protein were available. The horses were divided into two groups; one where the peritonitis was deemed to have an idiopathic aetiology (primary peritonitis) and the other group where the peritonitis had a possible aetiology such as intestinal parasites, impaction etc.

This report describes a master thesis performed at SICS (Swedish Institute of Computer Science) and KTH (The Royal Institute of Technology) in Stockholm.Ajax stands for "Asynchronous JavaScript and XML" and it's not a programming language, but a suite of technologies used to develop web applications with more interactivity than the traditional web pages.Ajax applications can be adapted for mobile and constrained devices. This has been called Mobile Ajax. While the technique is the same, Mobile Ajax generally is considered to be a special case of Ajax, because it deals with problems specific to the mobile market.The purpose of this thesis has been to examine which possibilities and disadvantages has the Mobile Ajax from developers and users perspective. In addition we compare Mobile Ajax with Java Micro Edition (Java ME) and Flash Lite.This has been done through literature studies and development of a databased chat client (MAIM -Mobile Ajax Instant Messenger). The application sends and receives direct messages in real time between differently mobile devices.

I detta arbete undersöks hur man konstruerar en sökfunktion och hur sökresultatvisningen görs på bästa sätt. Sökfunktionen är oftast en central del på en webbsida idag och fyller en viktig roll för om en webbsida skall bli framgångsrik eller inte. Om informationen inte går att hitta på ett enkelt sätt kan webbsidan tappa sina användare ganska snabbt. Även presentationen av sökresultaten kan vara en vital del där logik, design och layout är viktiga aspekter som inte får förbises. Det finns således en hel del faktorer att ta hänsyn till som webbutvecklare.Rapporten går igenom några utvalda best-practice metoder från områden som layout, sökfält, sökresultat och paginering med syftet att identifiera viktiga och användbara metoder.

The main aim of this study was to investigate and compare different methods for the extraction of forest fuel from environments close to an archipelago. The study was based on relevant literature and published reports as well as personal communications. Forestry has traditionally been characterized by intense efforts to rationalize and mechanize the cutting technique used for timber and pulpwood. In line with the increasing importance of forestry, more concentrated efforts can be expected in the area of techniques and methods, especially for the above-mentioned product lines. In Sweden, forestry is of major importance and the Swedish economy and standard of living have mainly been created based on the revenues generated from it. Thus, it is vital that Swedish forests are harvested in an efficient and responsible manner. The demand for biofuel is growing and today accounts for 15% of total Swedish energy production, a share that will probably increase. This study is based on three research questions, which are described under the heading of Aim. The results reveal that the most profitable method for handling forest fuel is the traditional one, which is also the most commonly used method in southern Sweden, namely the stockpiling of logs in a clearing by means of forwarders followed by splintering at the place from where they will be distributed. Today, the high cost of barge transport required for the extraction of forest fuel in an archipelago environment renders such operations unprofitable.

Impression management (IM) handlar om enmedveten eller omedveten process att styra intrycken av sig själv som ges tillomgivningen i syfte att imponera och söka erkännande. Tidigare forskning har istor utsträckning berört anställningsrekommendation utifrån intervjuer och demest framgångsrika resultaten har visat sig vara självförbättrande IM taktik.Studiens syfte vara att undersöka hur självförbättrande IM taktik i personligtbrev, två kvalitéer av meriter, påverkar ett beslut omanställningsrekommendation, samt undersöka hur en uppsättning personliga egenskaperrelaterar till självförbättrande IM taktik. Deltagarna var studenter, 57kvinnor och 32 män. Studien var experimentell 2 x 2 x 2 mellangruppsdesign. Deviktigaste fynden var att, högre kvalité av meriter innebar högre skattning avanställningsrekommendation samt att högre skattning av egenskaper vidsjälvförbättrande IM taktik skattats.

Projektet har syftat till att formge en ny och modern handtagsserie för Orthex Group med anledning av att dagens handtagsserie har blivit utdaterad.Inom Orthex Group ingår varumärket Gastromax och det är även där handtaget ska ingå. Som handtagsserie i Gastromax riktar den sig till dessa användare. Gastromax vänder sig främst till konsumenter som är intresserade av matlagning och som väljer redskap med omsorg.I den första delen av projektet har de tre faserna ur projektmetodik genomförts; utredning, planering och genomförande.I den andra delen genomfördes projektmetodikens tre faser; analys, kreativ fas och presentation.Efter att olika typer av handtag studerats i användarstudier, marknadsanalyser, funktionsanalyser och greppanalyser, skissades de första förslagen fram.Dessa förslag tillverkades och testades i användartest 1. Efteranvändartestet analyserades resultatet och nya förfinandetestmodeller tillverkades inför användartest 2. Resultaten från användartest 2 analyserades och ledde fram till slutresultatet; dvs.

The aim of this thesis is to study whether social welfare secretaries experience occupational pride and what affects this feeling. Previously made research indicate that occupational pride is essential for performance and work-related health. Research has also shown that social welfare secretaries often experience unhealthiness due to working conditions and a lack of professional self-esteem.This thesis is based on four qualitative interviews which have focused especially on critical incidents, according to the critical incident technique. This study has a hermeneutic, interpretative approach. As a theoretical framework, Pierre Bourdieu? s theory on social space and positions aswell as Aaron Antonovsky´s theory on Sence of coherence have been used. The result shows that the interviewed social welfare secretaries do experience occupational pride.

Intensivvårds- och Anestesikliniken på ett sjukhus i södra Sverige införde år 2005 respektive 2007 ett vårdutvecklingsprojekt, Tool for interactive learning and daily assistance (TILDA), inom ramen för nätbaserat lärande. Via TILDA kan medarbetare erhålla kompetenskort för medicinteknisk apparatur. Syftet med aktuell studie var att kartlägga olika faktorer som påverkar varför sjuksköterskor tar respektive inte tar medicintekniska kompetenskort via TILDA samt att undersöka sjuksköterskornas inställning till att arbeta med medicintekniska kompetenskort via TILDA. Studien var en deskriptiv tvärsnittstudie och mätinstrumenten var enkäter. Dataanalys utfördes med hjälp av statistik programmet SPSS och kvalitativ innehållsanalys.

I detta examensarbete beskriver jag FMT-metoden (Funktionsinriktad MusikTerapi). Jag beskriver även sensorisk integration och innebörden av sinnesintegrering och relaterar det till hur arbetet med FMT kan utföras. Under min praktikperiod har arbetet pågått med flera adepter. Valter som har diagnosen Autism och Stellan som har diagnosen Down syndrom, får en närmare presentation här. Jag undersöker också om det går att nå fram till dessa personer med denna ickeverbala metod, när deras förutsättningar är så olika. Båda har funktionsnedsättningar, men av olika slag.

In light of the recent scandals in Europe involving food labelling, this study will be focusing on food labelling. This study?s purpose is to investigate the extent of knowledge concerning labeling and presentation of food in the different food stores in Halmstad.The study was conducted out of our own interests with the guidance from the environmental health office. The study included nine different food stores of different size. The focus in this study was to verify how well five selected products follow the labeling rules.
