The purpose of this thesis is to examine how power structures concerning gender and sexuality emerge through the use of language in the Swedish reality show Paradise Hotel. Of particular interest is the representation of heterosexual relations in the show. Because of its interest in the relationship between power, gender and sexuality, the thesis is based on theories from gender and discourse studies. The specific theories referred to are Michel Foucault?s understanding of power, stereotypes according to Stuart Hall, Yvonne Hirdman?s gender system and contract theory, Judith Butler?s heterosexual matrix and R.W.

The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the connection between word-of-mouth and viral marketing, to identify properties of and strategic ways to implement viral marketing and to examine how a company can influence the customers? perception of the brand in social media.This purpose served to answer our research question: How can companies deliberately create viral marketing?To answer this question we based our study on a qualitative method where we conducted eight interviews with different people, all with experience in our research field. We focused on our respondents? own opinions and were more interested in their personal experiences rather than the market in general.In our last chapter our analysis clearly demonstrates that companies can deliberately create viral marketing. This is possible if companies create material that appeal to and that triggers the costumer to share.

This is a paper about the social services waiting rooms. Our aim with the study has been to:?Describe and problematize the physical environment in social services waiting rooms. A wider purpose is to lift the question about the waiting room as a significant part of peoples encounter with the social services.? To be able to achieve this purpose, we have used two questions: What does the physical waiting room environment look like in social services in Stockholms län? How can we understand and problematize the physical environment factors impact on people who visits these environments? We have observed and photographed ten waiting rooms in ten different social services in Stockholms län.

För första gången någonsin arrangerar Sverige år 2005 ett möte för länder som ingår i Nato och Partnerskap för fred, PFF. Med utgångspunkt i detta fokuserar uppsatsen på hur Sveriges nuvarande relation till Nato kan förstås, och på möjligheterna för Sverige att stå neutral i händelse av krig.Studien utgår från utrikesminister Laila Freivalds officiella retorik om säkerhetspolitik under år 2004 och 2005. Totalt analyseras fem tal med hjälp av tre teorier. Dessa behandlar Sverige som liten stat, Nato:s nya roll och den förändrade hotbilden samt utvecklingen av den svenska säkerhetspolitiken.Resultatet visar att Freivalds i sin retorik bortser från att Sverige är ett litet land med begränsat inflytande i den internationella politiken. Hon målar upp en komplicerad och global hotbild som indirekt riktas mot Sverige, och ger en uppfattning av att Sverige är i behov av säkerhetspolitiskt samarbete.

Syftet med studien är att undersöka Pro-anorexia (Pro-ana) bilders påverkan på kvinnor jämfört med vedertagna modellbilders påverkan. Blir kvinnor mer påverkade av att titta på extremt smala kvinnor än av att titta på "normala" smala modeller? En experimentell mellangruppsdesign, med 42 kvinnor från Lunds universitet användes. Den påverkan som mättes var matproblematik, tjockkänsla, idealkropp, självförtroende och affekter. Pro-anafilmer, modellfilmer och kontrollfilmer användes som stimulimaterial.

Denna uppsats behandlar Turkiets utrikespolitiska förändring under landets senaste tioårsperiod då islamister och sekularister skiftat inställning i frågan om EU-medlemskap. Tidigare var islamisterna starkt motsatta till tanken på att gå med i EU medan de sekulära så kallade kemalisterna företrädde landets aspirationer att gå med i unionen. The paper is a discourse analysis of the liberal environmental discourse in Sweden today. It is based on articles in two of the main liberal Swedish newspapers, Dagens Nyheter and Sydsvenska Dagbladet, and a liberal periodical, Neo.The purpose of this study is to analyze how the environmental problems that have been produced by the industrialised society, especially global warming, are seen upon in the liberal discourse in Sweden today. The theoretical point of departure is a discourse analysis that as a method seeks to analyze the material to reveal what assumptions the discussion departs from, and what assumptions the discussions reject.The thesis concludes that the main trends in the discussions are to position the environment against the financial system and state that the capitalist system is the only system that can solve the environmental issues. The existing environmental problems are not denied, but constantly belittled and only considered to be a problem if it poses a direct threat to humans. The solution for these environmental problems is believed to be the strengthening of the financial system and the development of new technologies..

A quantitative study was conducted with the aim to investigate whether individuals use a specific conflict strategy when they are in a task conflict or a relationship conflict in their workplace. The study also examined whether individuals experience positive or negative effects of a task conflict or a relationship conflict when a specific conflict strategy have been used. Previous research explains the effects of task conflicts and relationship conflicts at the workplace (De Dreu, 2008) Likewise lifts the effects of the conflict strategies interaction, avoidance, and power and coercion (Hoerr, 2005; Meyer, 2004; Trudel & Reio Jr., 2011). However it does not tie together what the conflicts and conflict strategies have for effects together. This also means that it is impossible to discern if there is a strategy that is frequently used in a specific conflict type. The study group consisted of 62 participants from different workplaces that responded to a survey.

Arbetets strävan är att ge en sammanhållen bild av den sociala snedrekryteringen som en process vilken tar sin början redan under grundskolans första år och vilken till del är språkligt betingad. Uppsatsen inleds med en beskrivning av den sociala snedrekryteringens process och omfattning, vilket följs av en överblick av språksociologiska förklaringsmodeller till fenomenet. Därpå presenteras och diskuteras material från det svenska forskningsfältet. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka och redogöra för på vilket sätt socialt betingade språkskillnader bidrar till den sociala snedrekryteringen till högre studier. För att åstadkomma detta har en teoretisk studie gjorts där så väl empiriska som teoretiska studier granskats och sammanförts.

Ända sedan 1949 har Taiwan sökt sin självständighet. I den här uppsatsen undersöker vi hur den kinesiska regeringen har använt olika argument för att försöka övertyga Taiwan om att det skulle vara till deras fördel att återförenas med Kina. Argumentationen ser vi som ett mycket viktigt redskap i försöken att övertyga och skapa förståelse för en viss politik som förs.Argumenten som vi analyserar är utdrag ur officiella uttalanden gjorda av den kinesiska regeringen efter att president Jiang Zemin framförde sina 8 punkter 1995. Vi har delat in argumenten i fyra kategorier; "makt", diskuterar i huvudsak den militära hotbilden, "den suveräna staten", det är en intern kinesisk angelägenhet, "blodsband", kineser och taiwaneser har samma ursprung, "ekonomi", de argument Kina för, för att få till ett ökat ekonomiskt flöde över sundet. Slutsatsen i uppsatsen är att förändringen i argumenten inte varit särskilt stora men anspelat på olika argument över tiden..

In the middle of Australia there is a city called Alice Springs. The city has one of the highest amounts of daily sunshine hours and sun irradiation in the world. The Australian Government runs a project called Solar Cities, and Alice Springs is one of the participators. The main part of the goal with the Solar Cities project is to increase the amount of electricity generated by solar power and by doing that lower the impact on the environment. This thesis examines the possibilities for construction of a large scale solar power plant in Alice Springs. This is done to determine the potential of creating a more sustainable energy system in the city.

The purpose of this essay is to understand meeting between hidden refugees and health professionals through interviews with refugee in hiding and health professionals. The implantation of the essay has been made by social science research methods which I have used as a qualitative survey. The material that I have used in this paper is to interview with hidden refugee and health care workers. I have used the different sources such as literature, internet and different laws which relates to the topic of this easy. I am using the power of theories to analyze the work.

Academic research concerning how to determine the power situation in a supply chain where an investment product supplier is involved did not exist. Therefore new models has been developed that analyses the power relations and maps out the power situation in a supply chain. In the future these models can be applied on similar cases by modifying the included parameters. The new models show that case company FAS should focus on the big producers of garbage bag which are Trioplast, Rullpack and Miljösäck. By strengthen the brand FAS can make more money in these relations.

Kriget i Tjetjenien utbröt 1994, som en följd av tjetjenernas krav på självständighet. Den tjetjenska sidan karaktäriseras idag av två vitt skilda drag, civilbefolkningens krigströtthet och de islamistiska extremisternas oförtröttliga kamp med terroristiska metoder. Ryssland å andra sidan håller hårt på sin territoriella rätt och situationen är därmed låst.Vi har, i en teorikonsumerande fallstudie, genomfört en analys av konfliktens drivkrafter utifrån den teori om konfliktlösning som kallas conflict resolution. Denna teori betonar vikten av att konflikten kommit in i ett så kallat ripe moment, för att kunna uppnå en lösning. För att freden skall bli bestående, är det av största vikt att de bakomliggande problemen blir lösta.Anledningen till att Tjetjenienkonflikten fortfarande pågår, är att den inte kommit in i ett ripe moment ännu.

The purpose of our thesis is to take a closer look at what lies behind the display of fiction in public libraries. Through interviewing ten librarians and analysing their statements, it examines the mechanisms behind the displaying of books. The analysis was conducted through the application of two different theories, one by Aant Elzinga and one by Douglas Raber. Elzingas theory concerns methods of working, while Rabers theory concerns the purpose of public libraries and attitudes towards power. The following conclusions were drawn from analysing the statements.
