Spelet om infrastrukturen - En diskursanalys av riksdagsledamöters föreställningar av offentlig privat samverkan

The purpose of this article is to describe the discourse in which public-private partnership (PPP) resides, within the Swedish parliament, in the field of infrastructure. I have chosen to look at the latest three years deliberation where PPP appears in parliament bills.This case study is based upon discourse as a qualitative method. Five indicator signs which is history, comparison, geographic location, vision of growth Potential and solution controls the context of PPPThe result of the analysis was that a clear discourse was unravelled. A first rather surprising conclusion shows that it is possible to disconnect the discourse from PPP. PPP is not important by itself, the result shows that it only play the part of possible solution to the problems related to the discourse and does not have any value in its own.This result lead the conclusion that PPP is no more than a tool for politicians to get as much out of their infrastructural aims as possible, as rational vote-maximizing actors.

Bioelectromagnetics for improved crop productivity : an introductory review with pilot study of pre-sowing treatment of tomato

Various electromagnetic (EM) treatments has been investigated for their Potential in improving crop productivity over the past century. There is today an increasing amount of scientists advocating EM treatments as an organically compatible method for improving plant growth and yield. However, failure to produce repeatable effects and defining causal mechanisms has made it a study of much controversy and debate. The subject requires indepth interdisciplinary knowledge, making it inaccessible for the majority of biologists, horticulturists and growers. In this combined literature review and pilot study, these issues are addressed by providing a comprehensive introductory review of the topic plant bioelectromagnetics and its Potential horticultural usability.

Den groteska kroppen: en problematisering av kroppsliga representationer i feministisk konst

I uppsatsen analyseras representationer av den groteska kvinnliga kroppen i feministisk konst. Alltfler konstnärer väljer att i sin konst utforska gränslanden i uttryck, så som det karnevalistiska, hysteriska och motbjudande. Utifrån en fallstudie som fokuserar på tre nutida konstnärer vilka arbetar med det groteska uttrycket vid framställningar av kvinnliga kroppar studeras intentionerna bakom deras verk. Kropparnas emancipatoriska Potential problematiseras därefter utifrån postkoloniala teorier, feministisk konstvetenskap och queerteori. Att använda representationer av en kropp som definieras som kvinnlig är inte ett ofarligt projekt.

Potential för energiklippdrivare i Skåne : markägarintresse, råvarutillgång & ekonomi

As the Swedish governments long term goals include a reduction of fossil fuel dependency, increasing pressure is placed upon energy companies to create and develop new solutions for renewable energy. The following case study was done in collaboration with the company Sydved Energileveranser AB and one of their contractors, Enarssons Skogsentreprenad AB. The objective of the study is to examine the bioenergy situation in region of Skåne and evaluate the Potential solutions in the region for a forest-fuel assortment, based on a bioenergy-cutting-system. As a part of this study I have compared ordinary manual cuttings done with a chain saw and cuttings made using the new ?bio- energy cutting system?. The cuttings made under both systems were tested in areas near agricultural fields or pasture land in order to maintain an open landscape.

Utveckling av metod för utvärdering av synnervens funktion hos häst :

VEP, visual evoked Potential is an electrophysiologic test that can be used for evaluating the higher visual pathways. The aim of this study was to investigate if it is possible to adapt this method to horses. This method could have a clinical use in addition to the existing diagnostic methods that are available to evaluate vision in horses. Firstly, this study contains a summary of relevant studies done on animals and, secondly, an experimental part where the possibility of recording VEP in nonsedated and sedated horses is investigated and where to position the recording electrode to obtain the best results. Our results show that it is possible to record VEP in horses in a clinical setting. VEP was best recorded in the sedated horse to avoid movement artifacts and other disturbances.

The myth of social media : A qualitative study of deliberation and power in Facebook-pages of the Swedish Police

The purpose of this study is to discuss the use of social media by the Swedish Police for democratic purposes. The idea of citizen empowerment is closely related to the development of new communication technologies such as social media. Yet many studies indicate that governmental institutions rarely make use of the assumed Potentials of social media.In this study, the democratic Potential of social media is derived from Habermas normative concept of deliberative participation. Operational definitions emphasize discursive equality, interactive reciprocity and external impact. The analytical framework is combined with qualitative text analysis to highlight the conditions of interaction between representatives of the Police and citizens.In conclusion: the democratic Potential of social media, from a Habermasian point of view, is to a significant extent neglected at the expense of its strategic advantages.

Studie och riskanalys av sulfidleror i Uppsala stad

Most of the city of Uppsala rests on postglacial clay with a varying content of sulphur. The sulphur occurs naturally in the clay in reduced form as sulphide and the clay is for that reason usually called ?sulphide clay?. Excavation during construction activities gives rise to large amounts of excavation material, of which the sulphide clay is a considerable part.When the clay is exposed to air and water, an oxidation of the sulphides occurs which may produce an acid leachate and the mobilisation of heavy metals bound in the clay or underlying material. The aim of the work has been to improve our understanding of the behaviour of sulphide clays and produce a basis for risk assessment in the future handling of excavation material with high sulphide content.

AI TILL BRÄDSPEL : En jämförelse mellan två olika sökalgoritmer vid implementation av AI tillbrädspelet Pentago.

I det här arbetet undersöks och jämförs två olika sökalgoritmer när de används för implementation av AI-spelare till brädspelet Pentago. De två algoritmerna som användes var alfa-betabeskärning och en nyare algoritm som kombinerar genetiska algoritmer och minimax, kallad genetisk minimax. Utvärderingen av resultaten visar att alfa-betabeskärning passar bättre vid implementation av en AI till Pentago än genetisk minimax. Alfa-betabeskärning med ytterligare optimeringar har Potential att lämpa sig väldigt väl för implementation av spelare till Pentago. Ytterligare visar resultaten att genetisk minimax inte är en passande algoritm för AI till Pentago.

Solenergi i Stockholm

Stockholm har inför 2050 satt upp ett mål om att bli koldioxidfritt. I strävan mot detta söker man utvinna energi med förnybara metoder och ett alternativ för elproduktion inom stadskärnan skulle kunna vara solceller. Solceller är en teknik som genom sammanfogande av halvledarmaterial och den fotoelektrisk effekt genererar el ur solinstrålning.Avhandlingen studerar dagens solceller, med verkningsgrader uppemot 20 % och deras Potential att täcka den mindre del av Stockholms elbehov som idag härstammar från fossila bränslen. Genom att se till en uppskattad befintlig takyta i Stockholms kommun och jämföra den med ytan som baserat på solcellernas Potential behövs för att täcka behovet, konstateras att endast en liten del av detta kommer kunna täckas. För att solceller skall vara aktuella inom storskalig elproduktion, krävs att de är ekonomiskt lönsamma och att det i dagens läge är praktiskt genomförbart att montera dem inom stadskärnan.

Naturvetenskap i den fria verksamheten : En studie i hur pedagoger upptäcker och tar tillvara på naturvetenskap

Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka vad som händer i olika naturvetenskapliga situationer i den fria verksamheten i förskolan. På vilket sätt tas sådana situationer tillvara på av pedagogen? Jag har använt mig av videoobservationer i två förskolor i Mellansverige för att försöka upptäcka situationer i den fria verksamheten som har Potential att bli en naturvetenskaplig lärandesituation för barnen. I studien observerades 11 pedagoger. Resultatet visade att det finns Potential för att utveckla naturvetenskapligt lärande för barnen i den fria verksamheten i förskolan.

This thesis concerns waste management on construction sites and was conducted on behalf of ICA Fastigheter.Areas of concern:How can an environmentally-efficient waste management system on construction sites be defined? What Potential exists for exploiting the waste resources that are generated?How can the waste management be optimised by reducing the quantity of waste and by optimal sorting?How can the client of a project influence the waste management?The purpose of the work was to investigate sustainable waste management in the building and construction sector and to highlight waste as a resource from an environmental and economic perspective.The aim of the work was to define an environmentally-efficient waste management system, to analyse the Potential that exists in waste management and to draw up guidelines for optimal waste management.The method consisted of a literature study, two visits to construction sites and four interviews.An environmentally-efficient waste management system means that the waste is managed in the following order of priority:Prevention     Reuse  Recycling     Energy recoveryLandfill     The prevention of waste is an important area that has not been adequately explored by the building and construction industry. The quantities of waste could decrease with the implementation of measures such as ordering materials in the dimensions required, prefabricated components, logistics centres with Just-In-Time deliveries, less and improved packaging and less wrapping. The reuse of waste materials and temporary apparatus as well as the use of a return pallet system are examples of reuse that reduces the quantities of waste.In most cases the source sorting work is a matter of course and the proportion going to landfill is down at a low level. The source sorting can be optimised by sorting all materials that can be reused and recycled to use them as a resource.

En holistisk investeringsbank - En fallstudie av fördelarna med att vara involverad i hela M&A-processen

Studies have shown that mergers and acquisitions often fail and that a reason to this might be that investment banks do not take any responsibility for the post merger integration. Despite this there have been no studies of the Potential benefits of an investment bank taking a holistic approach to the M&A-process and including post merger integration in its service. This study identifies a couple of investment banks that does this and calls them holistic investment banks. In M&A-theory a successful process is often described according to so called success factors that need to be fulfilled in order to achieve a successful result of the merger or acquisition. The business model and work approach of one holistic investment bank is analyzed in this case study on the base of seven success factors from established theories.

The aim of this study is to investigate and analyze the Potential effects on a number of social workers that may arise from listening to stories of domestic violence, and how these social workers deal with the Potential effects. The study is based on qualitative interviews with seven social workers that work with domestic violence. The theoretical perspective that we used was the theory of coping. The results of this study have indicated that the respondents have been affected of listening to the stories of domestic violence. Examples of different impacts that the work has had on some of the social workers is that they avoid movies and/or books with elements of violence, they are more aware of the domestic violence in the surroundings and there has also been changes in their cognitive schemas.

Förutsättningar att utforma stationsbatterier i vattenkraftverk med Li-jonteknik

In hydropower plants it is necessary to always have local power supply. Therefore, the plants are equipped with batteries as stationary back up power. Vattenfall Vattenkraft is using lead acid batteries but has been investigating alternatives to replace them. The aim of this study is to investigate the Potential of using Li-ion technology as back up power.The study showed that Li-ion batteries have many qualities. The Li-ion technology will decrease the space and maintenance demand.
