Background: Running economy is one of the key factors to achieve top performance in endurance events. Little evidence exists for improving running economy using high-intensity interval training while running. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine how HIIT affects running economy and VO2max. Method: 14 well-trained athletes (age 35 ± 8,9 years, height 175 ± 11,7 cm and weight 69 ± 12,2 kg) were divided into two separate groups (HIIT and Control). HIIT group performed 3 HIIT exercises every week for 4 weeks and Control group continued with their separate training programs consisting of mostly traditional endurance training. Results: Running economy showed no improvement in HIIT (pre 38,62 and post 38,62 ml/kg/min, p=1.00) but Control improved (pre 45,41 and post 43,37 ml/kg/min, p=0,03). VO2max decreased in HIIT (mean 61,32 to 60,84 ml/kg/min) and in Control (mean 61,99 to 58,47 ml/kg/min)..

This research addresses the issues of identity and culture in Latvia in the context of the upcoming European Union enlargement in 2004. Political self- determination of Latvia was historically indebted to culture. The phenomenon of cultural identity, so important 12 years ago when Latvian independence was regained, is largely ignored by politicians in the upcoming enlargement process. This is especially worth attention since the 8-th parliamentary elections took place in October 2002. The obvious lack of interest in cultural issues on the part of politicians is compensated by the apprehensions in the society (reflected in mass media) to loose Latvian specific culture and identity when joining the big European family.

This report describes the process of outlining a design proposal for a resource planning tool for TV post-production. A feasibility study in form of a participant observation has been carried out on-site, which has resulted in a requirement specification. Based on the requirement specification, mockups have been created to illustrate the functions and features that a final planning tool should have. In addition to developing a design proposal, an evaluation of the existing resource planning tool Ganttic has been conducted. Ganttic has been reviewed based on how well it meets the list of requirements.

Syftet med studien var att beskriva hur anhöriga upplevde att deras dagliga liv påverkades av att vara anhörigvårdare till en strokedrabbad person och vilken effekt riktade sjuksköterskeinterventioner hade för anhörigvårdarna. Studien genomfördes som en litteraturstudie. Databaser som användes var PubMed, Cinahl och Scopus. Resultatet visade att många anhörigvårdare upplevde oro och stress i olika situationer och detta skapade begränsningar i deras dagliga liv. Anhörigvårdarnas psykiska och fysiska hälsa påverkades av att vårda sin anhörig.

Individer som drabbas av sjukdom kan vara istörre behov av stöd för att klara av anpassningen på ett bra sätt. Sjuksköterskanbehöver ha kunskap och förståelse för hur transitionen kan upplevas för att kunna hjälpapatienten att anpassa sig till sin nya livssituation. Syftet var att belysa hur patienter somdrabbats av stroke upplever övergången till en ny livssituation. Litteraturöversiktenbaserades på tolv kvalitativa artiklar och en kvantitativ artikel.

In this study our aim is to display a series of possible mechanisms which operateswithin the regions and societies were child soldiers were frequently andextensively used in combat tasks. Dagens samhälle befinner sig under ständig förändring och utveckling. Idrottsrörelsen satsar nu på olika sätt på föreningsutveckling, det är utveckling av detta slag som denna rapport kommer att titta närmare på. Syftet var att studera seglingsföreningar i ett distrikt i södra Sverige som fått bidrag ur Idrottslyftet för föreningsutveckling. Studien hade även till syfte att se vilka mål dessa seglingsföreningar hade med sin utveckling, samt vad de upplever möjliggör och hindrar den utvecklingen. De frågeställningar som låg till grund för undersökningen var: Vilka mål har de seglingsföreningar som arbetar med föreningsutveckling? Hur är utvecklingsarbetet organiserat? Vad möjliggör och hindrar utvecklingen?  Empiri samlades in genom intervjuer med representanter ifrån de aktuella seglingsföreningarna.

En god familjefokuseradomvårdnad förutsätter ett gott samarbete mellan den professionella vårdaren ochnärstående. Syftet med denna litteraturstudie är att belysa hur en tillitsfull interaktion kanskapas mellan sjuksköterska och närstående till en person som har drabbats av stroke. Vivill också undersöka vad sjuksköterskan kan göra för att stärka de närståendes förmåga attuppnå välbefinnande genom familjefokuserad omvårdnad.

In this thesis we study the development of post-earnings announcement drift (PEAD) in the Swedish equity market from 2000 to 2009. By forming portfolios based on the stock price reaction to quarterly reporting we show that the characteristics of PEAD have changed. We demonstrate that negatively surprising companies show a positive drift during a holding period of six months sufficiently large to render the trading strategy unprofitable. This development holds from 2005 and onwards and these results contradict many a study which finds the same portfolio construction to be indeed profitable. We argue that this development is a trend that will not only affect our study but future studies as well..

This thesis focuses on politically active women within The Swedish Social Democratic Women?s Association, also known as S-women. By applying discourse analysis to interviews with active s-women and to meeting conversations between the association?s members, the study approaches ideas of feminism, feminist politics and political commitment. ?Solidarity? ? the central concept of the labour movement ? serves as the point of departure for a feminist discussion about class, gender, ethnicity and age/generation.

The purpose of this paper is to examine and to analyze the arguments about a possible Swedish law against the veil. I have therefore highlighted how notions about the veil creates and reproduces power-structures and meaning-systems. I structured the arguments in a pro et contra schedule and then analyzed them by using a theoretical framework consisting post-colonial feminism, orientalism, multi-culture and intersectionality together with research produced by Joan Wallach Scott (2010), Pia Karlsson Minganti (2007) and Anne Sofie Roald (2003). The results of the study shows that the people who either argue for or against a veil-law agree that the veil is an oppression of women and that it must be resisted. To be objective in the discussion of the veil seems to be impossible and the women it affects deprived voice.

This essay analyzes three Swedish cartoon artists: Elias Ericson, Lisa Ewald and AmandaCasanellas. The aim is to examine how they construct feminist strategies through their workand how they convey this visually. The issue of whether these Swedish cartoons can be seenas a part of a bigger political platform is central. Through semiotics and post-colonial andqueer feminist theory, some answers to these questions are searched for.The result shows that all three of the artists can be seen in a bigger activist context, even ifthey work in and through different platforms. Casanellas questions the racism in Swedenand how we should prevent it.
