In this diploma work the approach of determining the required amount of reinforcement in slabs exposed to pure tension is processed, on behalf of Ramböll Uppsala. It is a well-known problem in the industry that there are uncertainties in the determining of the amount of crack reinforcement, especially for structures exposed to pure tension. Cracking caused during the time of dehydration in concrete slabs is the most common defect according to statistics made by CBI[1], which provides numbers as high as 35 % of all the defects caused on slabs are generated by cracks. Comparisons between Sweden's former national standard BBK 04, Building Regulations for concrete structures due to restrained forces of shrinkage, and the current European standard Eurocode 2 are carried out through theoretical studies and concludes with several examples of calculations. Rigorous calculations of both standards, BBK 04 and Eurocode 2 with application of the national annex in Sweden and Denmark are performed.

The theoretical focus in this master is information retrieval (IR), and especially the part of IR that includes interactivity. This research is by some researchers called IIR. Our principal aim was to examine if search engines on the WWW are taking advantage of research results from IIR research. A way to do this is to look at the application of special features, in this case query expansion (QE) and relevance feedback (RF). Both these methods aim for a better matching of documents and the searchers information need.

AimThe aim with this essay has been to investigate how preschools profiling in motor activity training, work to stimulate motor development of children. In order to study this, the main focus for the research has been on the following queries:What characterize motor activity training at the preschools studied?What is the purpose with the motor activity training of preschools which were studied?How do the preschools describe the affect that motor activity training has on children?How do the preschools look at the need for motor activity training?MethodFour in-depth interviews were conducted with representatives of the chosen preschools profiling in motor activity. My selection was based on a strategic sample and this was made by an internet mapping of preschool activities in the districts of Stockholm, and information from the service guide of the town of Stockholm. Then e-mail was sent to ten contact persons at preschool units, and ten preschools were contacted directly by phone.

The purpose of this study is to the increase knowledge and understanding of the meeting between children with Arabian as native language and a Swedish school library. The study is made as a qualitative investigation built on interviews with eight-year-olds and eleven-year-olds. Only the childrens needs and views are considered. The study is centred on twelve key issues and aims to document the childrens thoughts and views of reading as well as their reading habits and their use of the school library. Through the childrens own words their evaluation of reading and literature, their abilities to assimilate the text and their de facto use of the books can be known.

Stereotyper är starkt förenklade, känslomässigt laddade mentala representationer om personer som tillhör en viss grupp, som i sin tur kan generera fördomar. Studien undersökte huruvida svenskar och invandrare bedöms olika vid samma brottstyp. Det predicerades att invandrare skulle bedömas mer negativt, bedömas vara mer sannolika att återfalla i brott, samt rekommenderas längre straff än svenskar. Dessutom skulle män bedöma gärningsmännen mer positivt. 85 deltagare bedömde en av fyra varianter av en brottsbeskrivning där förövarens etnicitet samt brottstyp manipulerades.

Enligt det agentteoretiska synsättet kan osäkerhet kring företagsledarens beteende avhjälpas genom att förutsätta ett opportunistiskt beteende från denne och sedan utforma styrmekanismer som begränsar denna opportunism.  Agentteorin har dock sitt ursprung i en amerikansk kontext med helt andra värderingar än de som format de svenska institutionerna. Därmed öppnas det för andra orsaker och teorier som kan förklara förekomsten av rörliga ersättningar i Sverige.Syftet med denna uppsats är att bidra till diskussionen om vilket eller vilka teoretiska perspektiv som kan ligga bakom förekomsten av belöningssystem i Sverige.Uppsatsen bygger på kvantitativ forskningsstrategi detta eftersom författarna försöker finna ett samband mellan olika variabler.  Genom att utgå från en total populations undersökning av ca 300 börsnoterade företag kom den slutliga populationen som uppfyllde de uppställda kriterierna att uppgå till 211 företag. Respektive bolags årsredovisningar studerades därefter med hjälp av ett kodningsschema som angav informationen som skulle inhämtas och kvantifieras.  Information har sedan statistiskt bearbetats för att kunna bidra till att testa de uppställda hypoteserna.Eftersom att ingen av agentteorins antagande som prövades kunde styrkas indikerar detta att andra teorier kan vara bättre lämpade. Resultaten indikerar på att det är institutionell teori i form av härmande isomorfism och symbolisk kompensation som är mer tillämplig för att förklara rörliga ersättningar i det svenska corporate governance-systemet.

The subject for this Master's thesis is the mission of the public library concerning target group everybody. Control documents, traditions, norms and trends influence how this is interpreted and how the library's service is being formed. The often very abstract terms used to describe the public library's mission makes it open for different interpretations. We are of the opinion that the public library's service should be formed to reflect the needs, interests, and priorities of the community it services, in order to be more attractive and useful.The aim of our study is to examine how the public librarians define and adjust to the mission to satisfy all citizens needs. Why do they choose to concentrate on certain target groups? And what does that show of how the public libraries reflect their communities? Our investigation includes examining six activities aimed at a certain target group and the six public libraries that carried these out.

Internet har blivit en viktig del i dagens samhälle, både för företag och enskilda individer där möjligheten till möten med andra människor har skapat en ny kontext. Det som den senaste tiden har vuxit och engagerat många är användandet av sociala nätverk, så kallade communities. I denna uppsats undersöker utredarna, på uppdrag av Bhappi, hur en ny aktör ska arbeta för att ta sig in på marknaden för sociala nätverk. Uppsatsens syfte är således att kartlägga marknaden för sociala nätverk samt undersöka på vilket sätt som Bhappi.com ska arbeta för att etablera sig och värva nya medlemmar.Utredarna har för att kunna besvara syftet använt sig av en kvalitativ metod bestående av en litteraturstudie, fokusgruppintervjuer samt enskilda intervjuer. Dessa empiriska data har vidare analyserats utifrån en av utredarna själva utformad modell som baserats på teorier inom marknadsföring, nyetablering av tjänster samt litteratur om sociala nätverk.Resultaten av utredningen visar på att intresset för Bhappis huvudsyfte gör din röst hörd finns, där affärsidén grundar sig att utforma rapporter efter diskussioner och enkäter som medlemmarna har varit med och format.

Idag finns många nedlagda industrimiljöer som formats om för att fungera för nya ändamål. En del har övergått till att bli bostadsområden medan andra har blivit områden för handel. Humans have inhabited mountainous areas in northern Sweden since the end of the last glacial period, ca 8000 B.P., and their presence has marked the landscape in various ways. Older traces include the remains of hearths and dwelling sites, but there are also remains, such as culturally modified trees (CMT's), resulting from more recent activities in forested areas. This study aimed to document how people, both indigenous Sami's and Swedish settlers, have used an area northwest of Ammarnäs in Västerbotten, during the last 300 years, and what traces their activities have left in the area. I used historical records as well as an inventory of CMT's in the area to address this aim. Historical records of Sami activity are meagre, but it is clear that the people of the Ran and Gran Sami villages utilized the area long before 1500 A.D.

The study examines the interaction between the preschool and the children?s homes as well as if the use of a blog contributes to a greater insight for parents in the pedagogical activities.In the latest curriculum, there have been a point of monitoring, evaluation and development, which seems to be a goal in the curriculum that creates uncertainty among the profession, how to configure them. Therefore, we felt that pedagogical documentation would be interesting to investigate.

This essay is about two Swedish folk musicians, Anders Rosén and Leif Stinnerbom, who have been playing two important rolls in the developing process of Swedish folk music, on their separate ways. The main part of this work is focused on the era called ?The Folk Music Vogue?, which was the era when my informants were in the limelight on the Swedish fiddler scene of the 70s.Our music culture is constantly lying under the change of progress and I find it interesting to reflect how these kinds of changes are affecting the role of the musician.In this essay I am reflecting on the different perspectives of the musicianship according to my informants and how they both are referring to their role as musicians. The purpose is further on to see how they have been relating to the change of progress on the field of the Swedish folk music during the 70s and up to this date. Throughout interviews with the informants I am analyzing their personal relationship to their life as folk musicians.

In 1999 the Swedish Parliament decided about 15 environmental goals aimed to be achieved in time for the next generation. For example physical social planning must be based on programs and strategies how cultural-historical values has been attended, so called programs of cultural heritage. By law the Swedish municipalities are responsible for reaching these goals by creating program of cultural heritage. But only a few of the municipalities have these programs, meaning that many municipalities need to create programs of cultural heritage in the next five years.The aim of this report is to present a model of analysis on programs of cultural heritage in municipalities for preservation and development of cultural environments. By testing the model on the municipalities of Osby and Tomelilla methods on how to create a new program of cultural heritage or how to complete existing documents are formulated.One of the conclusions is that one document, program of cultural heritage, functions as landscape analysis, model of cultural valuation and strategy of developing cultural values.
