Förskolans balansgång mellan fri- och styrd rörelseträning

en kvalitativ studie om förskolors arbete med rörelseträning

AimThe aim with this essay has been to investigate how preschools profiling in motor activity training, work to stimulate motor development of children. In order to study this, the main focus for the research has been on the following queries:What characterize motor activity training at the preschools studied? What is the purpose with the motor activity training of preschools which were studied? How do the preschools describe the affect that motor activity training has on children? How do the preschools look at the need for motor activity training?MethodFour in-depth interviews were conducted with representatives of the chosen preschools profiling in motor activity. My selection was based on a strategic sample and this was made by an internet mapping of preschool activities in the districts of Stockholm, and information from the service guide of the town of Stockholm. Then e-mail was sent to ten contact persons at preschool units, and ten preschools were contacted directly by phone. After calls with preschools and two e-mail replies, four names of preschool personnel who work with motor activity training in different districts of Stockholm were chosen for an interview. An observation of the preschools indoor and outdoor facilities for motor activity training was also made at occasions of the interviews.ResultsThe respondents point out that motor activity training is important for the development of children as a whole. They say that it is significant that motor activity training is performed in a conscious form, and that it is structured. The goal of the preschools, according to the respondents is that the motor activity training contributes to the automatization of motions. Motor activity training improves the learning ability of children, the control of the body, the self-confidence, and it contributes to further interest in motion training and a simpler life. All of the preschools agree that there is an increased need for motor activity training.ConclusionsIt is important that the people responsible for the development of children have good knowledge of motor activity development, and that they document motor activity of children. Early attention to children with disabilities can minimize the risk to fall behind in other development areas. The observation of the preschools facilities showed that all of the preschools have the required facilities, witch means that they also have good opportunities for motor activity training. Stimulation of motor activity of children is not only preschools responsibility but also parents and the society, which have to change attitudes towards activity of motion.
