This bachelor thesis in Landscape Architecture is about the planning and design of public spaces in small towns in Sweden. My opinion is that the small towns often are overlooked and my determination is to see if that is right. The purpose with this thesis in Landscape Architecture, with focus on a durable society is to find the central public places in small towns and evaluate their function. This thesis has a focus on good design of central public spaces, designed for the inhabitants of the small towns. A small town, which is the focus of this thesis, is defined to have 200-2000 inhabitants. The small towns, which often are built around industries or the railway, have since the nineteen seventies a problem with people leaving them for the cities in the urbanization. Currently there is also the opposite trend with people moving out from the cities, but to live on the country side, not in the small towns.

The Methodology used to gather empirical materials for this thesis has been different types of interviews. The interviews have been mainly unstructured personal interviews directly with our respondents, due to limiting factors some of the interviews have been carried out via phone or email.The theoretical framework consists of literature from well-recognised authors and is divided into four different parts: Insourcing & Outsourcing, Intellectual Capital, Knowledge Management, China & Intercultural understanding. The empirical foundation has been gathered from a great variety of different sources in an attempt to cover the many complex angels in which this subject can be looked upon. Chinese students, managers in international companies with experience from China, Chinese employees in Swedish companies and different people with good knowledge of different areas of China are all among our respondents.In our conclusion we have reached the three following conclusions for why one should start a ?bridge building? enterprise in between qualified Chinese human capital and Swedish structure capital: 1.

Benchmarking is an established method of working which is often used in order to develop the quality of the organization. However, almost 70% of the organizations with benchmarking fail due to the lack of planning and structuring of the benchmarking exercise. Maintenance sections in the paper and pulp industry are one of those who have decided to conduct benchmarking. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to gain knowledge of how the maintenance sections in the paper and pulp industry deliberately structure and plan to use benchmarking as a driving force for quality development in the maintenance sections.The study is a hermeneutic case study. Telephone interviews and document analysis have been used as data acquisition methods.The results show that there is a lack of both planning and structuring in the benchmarking process, and lack of management commitment for quality improvements within industrial maintenance.

Den tilltagande urbaniseringen har medfört att hamn- och industriområden som tidigare låg i stadens perifera områden har fått en alltmer central plats. Från att ha fungerat som industristäder där denna verksamhet varit en integrerad och vital katalysator för staden håller samhället nu på att övergå från industrisamhälle till kunskapssamhälle där arbetet förflyttats från förorenade och bullriga industrimiljöer till rena och tysta bostads- och kontorsmiljöer. I takt med detta minskar också behovet av centralt belägna industriområden som nu blivit mer ödsliga, otrygga och stadsfrånvända där de inte sällan bildat en barriär mot sin omgivning. Samtidigt är det idag för oss människor inte lika självklart som tidigare genom historien att använda stadens offentliga rum och det pågår mycket planering för att skapa integrerade, attraktiva och levande stadsmiljöer vid stadsomvandlingar. En problematik som uppstår är hur dessa industriområden kan omvandlas från centrala men avskilda, ödsliga och ofta stadsfrånvända industrimiljöer till funktionsblandade, attraktiva och levande stadsdelar som är väl integrerade med sin omgivning. Arbetets syfte är undersöka hur Lövholmen kan omvandlas från en avskild industrimiljö till en funktionsblandad och levande stadsdel som är väl integrerad i sin omgivning.

I denna uppsats undersöktes tre kommuners arbete med hållbarhet i översiksplanen. Det finns ett problem idag att hållbar utveckling är ett vardagsord som riskerar att förlora sin innebörd pga. de många olika tolkningarna och angreppssätt. Om begreppet är så pass vagt som många påstår, hur hanteras det då i översiktsplanen, vilken ska leda kommunens framtida markanvändning? I uppsatsen undersöktes Trelleborg, Helsingborg och Lund kommuns översiktsplan.

Theatre is often seen as an act to entertain or provoke, however the main argument of this paper is that theatre also can be seen as a process to build peace. This study focuses on and explores how artistic processes, such as Forum Theatre developed by Augusto Boal, can be used as a method to promote psychosocial reconciliation in war-shattered areas. With the use of Forum Theatre the spectators becomes the spect-actors, the subjects that act and not the objects that are acted upon. Subjects that are encouraged to try and find solutions to social problems by acting out possible solutions and evaluating them. By analyzing how a number of organizations have worked with Forum Theater on the Balkans and with a theoretical approach combining Homi K.

?Re:Regional? is a diploma work by Sanna Alm and Ylva Hedin, for the Master?s Programme in Spatial Planning presented at the Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden. ?Greater Helsinki Vision 2050 ? International Ideas Competition? was the starting point of this study. The competition was launched the 15th of December 2006 and the closing date was the 31st of May.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and specify the characteristics of servicescapes in the hotel industry and its role when building a brand. Further, the aim is to put forward how Management in this sector strategically utilizes the location to manage the staff in order to help build a strong lasting brand. To fulfill our purpose we have targeted one overall question - What purpose does servicescape have when building a solid brand name in the hotel sector?In today?s society brands play an integral part in influencing our buying behavior and are now considered to be a new business tool to communicate a business trough. Also services have become a widespread phenomenon, which is seen as a competitive tool not only for companies in the service sector.

Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera och jämföra hur jämställdhet behandlas i trafikplaneringen i Västra Götaland på olika planeringsnivåer. Bakgrunden till valet av syfte är att jämställdhet är ett ämne som ofta glöms bort inom stadsplanering. Genom att medvetet planera och utveckla den bebyggda miljön finns möjlighet att påverka det dagliga livet för många människor, bland annat genom att möjliggöra för jämställdhet. Jämställdhetsarbete är ett demokratiskt arbete som stärker mänskliga värden och jämlika förhållanden, vilket visar vikten av att arbeta för att uppnå ett samhälle där män och kvinnor har lika värde. I trafikpolitiska mål är jämställdhet ett område som har lyfts upp starkt under senare tid och intresset för jämställdhet inom transportsektorn ökar. 2001 förstärktes jämställdhetsperspektivet i de transportpolitiska målen.

This report is a result of a project that been conducted on System Andersson. System Andersson sells and develops MPS-systems for small and medium sized manufacturing companies. System Andersson are today located in the central parts of Jönköping and has about 20 employees. The goal for the project is to develop a new version of Andersson Qwick mps. The project has been divided into a number of smaller projects were the authors been part of the planning module project.

Det finns idag en påtaglig bostadsbrist i Stockholmsområdet och detta samtidigt som regionen förväntas få en kraftig inflyttning de kommande tjugo åren. Krav finns på kommunerna att friställa byggbar mark för ny bostadsbebyggelse. Detta arbete konkritiserar problemet genom en fallstudie av gammal industrimark som snart kommer att friställas för bostads- och verksamhetsbebyggelse. Fallstudien görs på Bergs oljehamn i Nacka kommun. Under det senaste decenniet har nyexploatering av hamnmark skett nationellt i Sverige liktväl som regionalt i Stockholmsregionen. När staden växer uppstår behov av centralt belägen mark för nyexploatering, där hamnarnas tidigare perifera läge nu blivit centralt belägna. Arbetet har undersökt förhållandet mellan typologi och de specifika kvalitéer de för med sig och hjälper till att förstärka på platsen.

?Ecosystem services are the ecosystems direct and indirect contributions of ecosystems to human well-being.? In order to reach the generation target and the environmental objectives it is important to increase the awareness of biodiversity and ecosystem services and it?s importance to human welfare and simultaneously highlighting the value of ecosystem services. The value of ecosystem services should be integrated into economic standpoints, political considerations and other decisions in the society. In today?s society there is a problem concerning that the value of ecosystem services are not considered in economic terms, which can result in solutions that are unfavorable for our welfare (Ministry of Environment, 2012).
