Background: Studies showed differences in attitudes towards patients with mental illness in nurses who worked in somatic care compared to nurses who worked in psychiatric care. The nurses in somatic care stated more negative attitudes to mental illness in relation to the nurses in psychiatric care. Studies also showed that work experience affected attitudes towards mental illness. Nurses who often came in contact with people with mental illness had less negative attitudes and prejudices against mental illness. Aim: The aim was to examine the experiences from nurses in somatic care, caring for patients who also have a psychiatric diagnosis.

Introduction: A big part of the patients that recently has gone through operation at surgical units experiences pain in different scales after their operation. Untreated postoperative pain has been proved in different studies to increase to risk medical complications, longer rehabilitation, more days at the hospital and higher expenses for the hospital. One of the nurses? main tasks is to notice and relieve the pain of the patients. To engage the patients more in the medical process and make the nurses´ work more person-centered could make an impact on the postoperative pain and contribute to a better pain relief.

The number of persons with problems of abuse or addiction seeking care has increased during the last years in Sweden. Recent international studies show stigmatizing attitudes among nursing staff, which affect the treatment and care negatively. The purpose of this study was to describe experiences among nursing staff of treating persons with problems of abuse or addiction at an emergency department. The participants were six nurses and one assistant nurse who worked at an emergency department. The interviews were analyzed through qualitative content analysis.

It contains three questions at issue. What are the expectations of the contact men? What information is given? Background: Relatives are those persons who are closest to the patient, regardless of relationship and included into the patient´s life world. When a person is in a palliative stage this affects not only the patient but also the relatives, as it implies such a big change in life for all. The nurse has an important role for both the patient and the relatives. Aim: The aim is to highlight the relative´s needs of support for palliative care. Method: A literature review based on previous research. Ten articles were found, nine with a qualitative approach and one with both qualitative and quantitative approach. Results: The analysis resulted in six themes, these were the result of the study. The six themes were, ?to be seen an confirmed?, ?good communication?, ?continuous information?, ?availability and continuity?, ?to participate? and ?to share responsibility with the staff?. Conclusion: As a nurse we come in contact with relatives of patients in a palliative setting in any form.

The purpose of the project is to with a usage-centered design method create a paper prototype of a tool that will help the employees to analyze the log files in a more efficient way than earlier.The result shows how the usage-centered design method was used to create the paper prototype and how the user interface was created according to human-computer interaction (HCI)..

Background: Homelessness is increasing, and health care is still difficult for many homeless people to achieve. If they get sick, it is both technically challenging to get a clinic they can go to, but also an economic problem because most of the homeless have no gainful employment. The fact that many homeless people experience bad attitudes of health care professionals is one reason why they don?t seek healthcare until an emergency arises. In the profession as a nurse, all people should be given equal treatment regardless of background.

Bakgrund: Missfall är ett ofrivilligt avslutande av en graviditet som kan medföra känslor av chock, sorg och skuld. Vårdtiden vid missfall är ofta kortvarig och vårdpersonal har en betydande roll för kvinnornas upplevelse och återhämtning.Syfte: Syftet var att genom en litteraturstudie beskriva kvinnors upplevelser av missfall och den vård som ges i samband med missfall.Metod: Allmän litteraturstudie baserad på tio vetenskapliga artiklar med en kvalitativ design.Resultat: Resultatet bestod av tre huvudteman med tillhörande subteman. Det första huvudtemat var Kvinnors egna subjektiva tankar och känslor i samband med missfall med subteman Förlust av en graviditet, Skuldkänslor, Oro och förväntningar vid framtida graviditeter. Det andra huvudtemat var Kvinnors erfarenheter av bemötande från vårdpersonal vid missfall, med subteman Attityder och bemötande, Brist på information. Det sista huvudtemat var Kvinnors behov av stöd i samband med missfall med subteman Familj och närståendes betydelse, Vårdpersonalens betydelse.Slutsats: Missfall var en chockartad upplevelse, ofta präglad av existentiell smärta och sorg.

Stroke är en av de vanligaste orsakerna till död och funktionsnedsättning. Det är främst personer över 65 år som drabbas. Fysisk, psykisk och social påverkan förekommer ofta. Hjärninfarkt och hjärnblödning är de två orsakerna till stroke och högt blodtryck är en bidragande orsak. Symtom på stroke kan till exepmpel vara förlamning eller talsvårigheter.

Palliativ vård bygger på en helhetssyn som tryggas genom patientcentrerad vård där patientens delaktighet har en central roll.Syfte: Belysa vuxna patienters upplevelser av delaktighet då de vårdas i livets slutskede.Metod: Studien är en systematisk litteraturstudie främst baserad på metodik beskriven av Forsberg och Wengström (2013).Resultat: Temat möjligheter och hinder i upplevelsen av sin delaktighet växte fram, med fyra kategorier under sig: hantering av sin sjukdomssituation, överväldigande ny levnadssituation, bli sedd som individ och inte bli sedd som individ. Det framkom att patienter i livets slutskede fann möjligheter att vara delaktiga i sin vård genom införskaffandet av kunskap om sin sjukdom och sin framtid. Denna kunskap skapade förståelse över situationen hos patienterna, vilket gav dem redskap att lättare hantera och delta i sin vård. Upplevda hinder till delaktighet visade sig vara då patienterna upplevde sig förbisedda av vårdpersonal.Slutsats: Vuxna patienters upplevelser av delaktighet då de vårdas i livets slutskede går inte att beskriva som ett ensamt fenomen, utan behöver beskrivas utifrån en helhetssyn av patienten.  Den unika patienten bildar en dynamisk helhet, och behöver bemötas som den unika individ den är..

Old people's life situation when receiving municipal help and care in theirlast period of life is sparsely investigated from their own perspective. Thepurpose of this study was focused on the thoughts of the aged people andtheir personal experiences on what quality is within the geriatric care. Inthis qualitative study, 10 elderly people aged 75-90 years wereinterviewed from 3 different nursing homes within Solna Municipality.Qualitative interviews, with the emphasis on their present life situationespecially what brought about a good life, were performed. The interviewswere analysed using qualitative content analysis. The implication of theterm ?meaningful existence? is individual and differs from person toperson.
